Hi all. Cute graphics Junie....GG put up some Easter decals on the fridge yesterday. It is nice today, the last day of skating for the kids at the ice arena tonight also. We are supposed to get a snowstorm tomorrow...it always gets milder right before. The usual 'calm before the storm' I guess. The gardening catalog's are coming in lately. I am going to order a 'set' of strawberry plants....I have been taking runners from the set that we bought about 15 years ago. They were called Tri-star...I'd like to add another variety in another location. One for eating, the other for jelly. I am getting excited for the end of May when our snow will be gone

The end of may, huh?? Well, bless you my dear. While we "can" have snow in may, we rarely do.
I would LOVE strawberries, but they are such work. I would like to plant some Blackberry bushes though. BUT I think that would be impossible b/c of the Japanese beetle.
I so wish they were not a problem around here...

I am soon to sleep.
Tomorrow we are going to be with my MIL as she has a minor procedure. I may be home tomorrow night, I may well stay with her at the hospital if she stays a few days. I will see you all when I am back.

Well wishes for your MIL, Junie.
Yesterday I did get the drywall repairs finished in GG's room and primed them. I am glad to be done.....drywall compound dust is the worst thing to deal with ever.
It has been snowing off and on every day...a few inches at a time but it does still add up. It is suppose to get a bit milder later in the week.
Today is laundry and mopping....baking as well hopefully.

Yes, the procedure went very well. Now, I hope they keep her in the hospital for a few (if not more) days.
I did not stay, although I wanted to stay.
Going to make some popcorn...it will be my dinner as we ate lunch around 2:30-ish.

Morning All
I hoped to be able to say we found a house to buy but you know the saying about best laid plans well ........
We have a lovely realtor and she was doing a good job finding us places to look at... and the last one had a sunken living room right off entry way...Nana didn't see the first step and fell ..broke my right foot in 3 places.. so house hunting is on hold right now... may be a longer visit here than the week we planned..the ER doc said maybe a month after they can do the surgery to put in 3 screws .hopefully that will get done Thurs or Fri... then just depends on how fast I can heal,,, thank goodness the house here has no stairs,,, and hoping to get wheel chair tomrorrow..that will make it so much easier for my hubby to take care of me..kind of helpless right now and can't do much of anything on my own... guess I needed a lesson in patience... sure getting one....
I will let you all know how things progress but don't worry if it's a while before I get back here,,, they have me on some good painkillers so I sleep a lot ,even when I don't want too... please have a good day for me and send a couple prayers or good thoughts my way... may need all I can get before I am back to normal...

Oh my Nana....best wishes for a speedy recovery.  Get those 'grands' to help out as well. Glad things went well Junie. We got an awful snow storm through the night...and they didn't cancel school. The early bus stopped to pick up the older kids and almost slid into them. The driver stopped far from them but the back end kept sliding sideways. I just got off the phone with the school board...the decisions need to be made locally, not from a two hour drive away. Rant over....hoping today is a good one for y'all. Tina, can you drop off some milk to me as well

Sunny, glad you called about the school bus.
I went to the Council on Aging to figure out what I need to do about a supplemental plan for SS. My friend went there but had a different person. The lady I had told me up front she had just completed her training and I was her first person. She didn't know how to spell inhaler. Remember when the first grade teacher didn't know how to spell inhaler? This lady, Judy, had to click her computer program to list my medications and she clicked albuterol nebs instead of inhaler. I kept explaining that a nebulizer and an inhaler are two different things. I finally asked if I could just look at her screen and point to what she should click. My friend was there for 30 minutes. After an hour and a half I thanked her and told her I'd have to come back if I had more questions. It was awful. She kept loosing "her screen" and would ask for all my information again. I just can't believe there are people in the USA who have no idea what an inhaler is. If you don't use one yourself you'd think you would have had a friend or relative that used one. I mean every other child in school has one.

Never mind her not being able to spell inhaler, sounds like she was ready to mess you up big time--and as far as I know, any mis-information that the government has stays in their systems. (I hope it is straight now)

I have never been in a room with someone who used an inhaler. I have never seen anyone have a breathing treatment. But I know the difference.
SS pays about 80% of your medical bills. You need a supplemental to help with the rest. For instance, the last year of John's life he wasn't hospitalized but still used almost a million dollars in medical care, just in transfusions, radiation, meds, hospice, dr, visits, etc.Well, Medicare took care of 80% and his supplemental took care of most of the rest (excluding his co-pay) . You want to find a plan that fits your needs. It really depends on what you think you will need.

Sheri, I hope you get things straightened out...you'd think the new hiree would have some medical knowledge.
Today GG and I have to head up to DD's after school to look after GB...DD is having two wisdom teeth pulled. Grocery shopping is on my list as well.
Tina, supplemental insurance sounds like a necessity.

The yard guys came again today. I love them. We are overcast and a little cool outside and I like this type of weather. Not too hot is a good thing.
Judy, the Medicare lady, also told me that I would need to call the supplemental (Medigap) insurance companies to see if my doctor is in their network if and this is exactly what she said "you're dead set against having to change doctors." That is not true. If a practice accepts Medicare patients they take the supplemental insurance. I called Andrew, who is supposed to be the smart guy at the Council on Aging, and told him Judy was giving wrong information. I don't know how long her training was but there is a lot of information related to Medicare and she needs more training.
Wonder how Nana is today.

Not all doctors who accept medical will be acceptable to all supplemental insurers. Some of them have their own networks. Do make sure your doctor is acceptable to whatever plan you like or keep looking.
I did go out today. It was good going and I got a lot done.

I hate this whole Medicare/supplemental thing. I wish we could just get Medicare..then be done---this "extra insurance thing" has me very upset.
and I want to know just how we are supposed to live----OK I am done complaining. Got my MIL home. I will be glad when she is all healed & well.

Hi all,
Well saw the ortho surgeon today.. I can't have the surgery till next Wed... I get a plate and at least 1 screw , will set off all the metal detectors now... I feel better now, Joe found a used wheel chair form me too so at least I can move around the house a little easier.. and go to town with a lot of help..bil built a ramp I can get in and out of the house easier too.. doc did say I have a 6 week recovery time after the surgery so we are here for a while... Doc gave me a scrip for a hundred more percosets too, afer tomorrow the most he could give me at a time is 25 and then have to go in again just for him to write a new scrip for it,, that would be a pain and kind of expensive but laws are changing around narcotic scrips so many are hooked on them now.

I remember before medicare was available. More that half of my grandparent's Social Security checks went into paying for their health coverage. It is much better than it was. I hope it gets easier on all.

Hi all. Nana, that is a long time to wait for surgery. It is time for your family to look after you now I have a parent/teacher meeting to attend today.....then GG is picking out a gallon of paint at the local hardware store for her bedroom. It is pre-mixed so she only has 10 colors to pick from.....I'm sure she'll pick out the worst color among them Have a good day everyone.

Sunny, I guess there is no way you could give GG a limited number of choices..(you know, remove all of the awful colors?) Tell her "these colors will match your bedspread & such"..then let her pick from them.

Hi all. Have fun with the grands Junie. Tina, does the restaurant supply store sell loose, bulk supplies? I hope you got that errand completed, Well GG picked a color called Wave, it is a medium based aqua color. The new bed spread set is purple and aqua so it will go well together. She has a bin style toybox in her room that is already purple, aqua, pink and lime green....and the bed frame itself is pink. That room will be hard on the eyes by the time I am done We had a school meeting yesterday. GG is adjusting well...they said she is ahead of where she should be for her age. I am thankful.

Happy April Fools Day. I have no really big plans today. I will budget for the month and pay bills. That sounds like a great color combo, Sunny. No, the restaurant supply doesn't have loose bulk foods. They do have 50 pound bags of carrots and potatoes and such. And they carry large cuts of meat and bulk chicken and things. But I mostly go for the things like paper plates and trash bags and such. I pick up 25 pound bags of cane sugar and flour, too. And cleaning supplies. I hope everyone has a great day.

Tina, buying in bulk helps save money...glad you can do it.
I ended up having to run an errand for DH yesterday so I took GG to the movies at the same time. A reward for doing so well at school. We seen an animated film called 'Boss Baby'. I try take her every few months...it is an hours drive from here and an expensive adventure as well. It makes a nice 'treat' for her.
I am sure Junie had lots of fun as well.

Hello everyone. I had a great time yesterday. When we walked into the door at my DD's, Henry ran up to me, yelled "Grandma" & hugged me (well my legs LOL) The girls began "beeping my nose" the moment they saw me.....  It was so much fun. Monday is my DD's Birthday, so I got to give her her Birthday gift in person, so that was nice. AND as an added bonus, got to spend the time going up& coming back with my niece & her 2 daughters. It was a good day indeed.

Back from both of my Drs. appointments...1 was with Rod as he had a check-up, then the other was with my mom as she had a check-up.
It has rained off & on here all day. Luckily for me, it was sunny while I took Mom to her appt.

Hi all. I decided to start painting yesterday...I finished the first coat. I painted the whole room, ceiling and all in the same color...and I love it. The crazy aqua color swatch on the can turned out to be like a sea foam green. The last coat goes on today  DH came home and said the whole house could use a fresh coat of paint. I'd go for that if he'd do it

Good morning. I am storm watching across the south. And praying. We're supposed to get rain and I will shop towards that. But ours will be less than an inch. Very doable.

Hi all. Prayers for all with the severe weather South of me. Keep safe. It has been snowing off and on since yesterday...freezing rain for tonight. I'll be glad when May is here. Painting is finished...and I am glad to be done. I have grocery shopping to do this afternoon..I have to pick up GG at school, they started a kiddie basketball program that starts today after class. It should be fun...and it is free

I too like indoors when it is raining, Tina. And I LOVE to sleep when I can hear the rain. IMO it is a restful sound. May it still be raining when you begin your nap.

My free trial antivirus was up today...and I wasn't impressed enough to buy it. I just installed AVG on a trial as well.....I'm only buying what works.

Sunny, I was not impressed with AVG--so let me know what you think....BUT now that I have Panda I am not impressed with it either. I was just thinking this morning how I might well just buy Norton again...we shall see.

That's funny. I use AVG free and it has done well by me for years. I will keep what works. A free trial of Norton came with this machine but I never used it.

Well I had computer problems that AVG was not addressing, so I had my SIL (the one that works for the government) put on another free one--he chose Panda---said it was good and that is what he uses on his private. (BUT I am thinking he uses something his employer gave him as he sometimes works from home.) Anyway now my machine is often saying I am offline when the router & modem say I am not & my computer is so slow even when I have not used near half of my memory.
I am glad that you are happy though, Tina. I do agree we all need to use what works for each of us.

Well, the slow down usually doesn't have much to do with what anti-virus you have. It has more to do with fragments you have clogging up your computers. I defrag mine on occasion. And run CCleaner that picks up the rest of it. It cleans up the system and makes it run smoother, faster.

I know about the defragmenter--but I have yet to find it on this computer--I will look again, thanks
went to my defragmenter--it is on a 1 week schedule.....last run 4-1-17...

I had a wonderful day. Rod & I went to a few antique stores to be together. It was a gift on his part as he gets tired real fast of antique stores.
I bought my Henry 12 Easter Eggs that one can hang out on a tree for decoration. I am now thinking about sealing them so as to protect them from the rain.

Been so long I about forgot how to post! I finally got a new computer that will let me on here. It's a pain because the router is so old it kicks me off the internet every 5 minutes and I have to go reboot it. I have a new router, but I have to wait until Brennan comes to hook it up for me. Ya'll wouldn't believe what he has grown into. A man! He's 6' tall now, senior in high school and has a good job.

I remember his being just a kid----how did he get older & I did not !!!
Tina, about the Eggs--probably not but hey, I wanted to give them to him so the indoor thing is not an issue. I thought I had another week until easter--as I do not---I guess he will get them unsealed. They will have to go out on Monday.

Hello..I went to see my MIL today, and while everyone said she is fine, I think she looked bad...but time will tell.
I went this afternoon to finish shopping for Easter--(silly me thought I had 2 more weeks) now I am waiting for Rod to say we should begin cooking supper. he will grill out and I will finish the rest inside here.
Sunny, I am sorry to hear that GG is sick....That is the part of school that I hated.

I hate to hear of anyone being sick. :( I woke up at 4am night before last throwing up. I think it was because of new meds I am taking, but it sure was bad. So glad to be able to get back on the forum. Now just to get Brennan here to replace this 16+ year old router I might be back in business.

Day 4 of fevers for GG...this virus is hanging tough. I am going to call today for another appt for her. I know they will say the same thing but high fevers for days worry me so.

There was a school shooting this morning. I decided not to go out and mess with getting mixed up with it all. It has calmed down now and I am sending Jonni out (in a different direction) for milk and bread and McD's for Teddy.

How did everything come out, Carol?
San Bernardino is still on edge for the terrorist attack almost a year and a half ago. We average about a shooting a week. It is the most dangerous city in So California.
I preferred hearing that today's shooting was a domestic thing as opposed to terrorists or a disturbed kid. It was a murder suicide and nobody is loose on the street. And the kids shot were just standing behind the teacher and were not targeted. But still it was an awful situation. And I have been praying for the deceased and the 9 year old who was wounded but survived.

Hi all.
I watched the news Tina, it is such a sad situation for the children. The world is getting crazier by the day.
Apparently GG has a virus...'duh', I know that but day 5 of fevers is scary. I wish the doctor had a test to narrow things down. I hate pumping her full of Advil.
Laundry and baking for today...and wrapping up Easter gifts as well.

Tina, I saw that on the news and was wondering how close that was to you. Scary.
Carol (Junie) might not be here today. She broke something and can't get on the internet.

HI !!! I am on my DH's computer now
anyway Tina, you are who I thought of when I saw about the shootings---and so glad that Teddy is at home now---
Sunny---glad you are ready for Easter....and so sorry for GG. Drs. can be a real pain sometimes, ya know---
what is broken is my computer....We lost power & it went black & now it is messed up---my brother said he will come by at some point & look at it. I know he is busy so I told him no hurry.. I cannot use my DH's computer much--as it too is acting up. when I can I will drop in to keep everyone updated.
I hope my computer can be fixed as I cannot buy a new one. (I do not think)
I would Love to go to facebook but I think Rod wants back on "his" computer before he goes to bed---(Imagine HIM wanting to us3e HIS computer...LOL)

Oh, good. Cindy just said you broke something and couldn't get online. I imagined much worse. I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully it is an easy fix Junie. We are getting freezing drizzle at the moment, they cancelled school as well. I have no plans to venture anywhere today.

Bless you ladies...It would be like me to get hurt again. But it was mu computer that got hurt.
bless you both for thinking of me though.
(in Cindy's defense, we talked 7 then I told her why I called her, then we talked a LOT & I wondered if she got what I said or not----
Rod showed me tonight what to do to get his computer back up & running again if it acts up but I do not want to abuse the use of this too much.
My tablet will let me on "some" of facebook...and I can get to my e-mail but when I try to wrote an e-mail the keyboard pops up over the letter ar4ea and you cannot see what you are writing.....but it says that the link is not right or some such--and will not let me see it...
every few days I will come back.
"My brother just offered to come on Saturday to look at my computer...I will be at Tara's
Oh well----I will be back ASAP....I wish you all a great Easter...

We will be waiting for your return Junie The weather is milder and my snow is melting slowly...we should be at bare ground in a month. I can't wait. Yesterday I convinced myself to sew GG's curtains...we bought her a 'bed-in-a-bag' and I always use the top sheet for curtains. It was cute to see how amazed she was on how the process goes. GG is still sick, the fevers have calmed but the 'not keeping anything in' has started. I swear that poor child has lost every extra ounce that I have put on her since she moved in. I think I am going to take her to a 'walk in' clinic today for a second opinion. 8 days of this is too much. Tina, have you any plans for Easter?

Good morning. I was up in the night for about an hour but slept well before and after so I am good.
I don't have any plans for Easter. My kids are all adults now. It just doesn't seem fun without the bunny.
I am thinking laundry today.

Hi all. Tina, GG makes sure that the 'bunny' visits Grampy as well. Today is Good Friday, so we will forego any meat...we will be having a clam chowder for Supper. My uncle dropped off the clams to us, he has a license to dig them. When we were kids we dug them all the time but they have now closed all clam digging on local beaches due to contamination. Now one needs a license and a boat to travel to an island. GG's fevers have finally broke...now the croupy cough has started. Have a good day everyone.

Teddy and I had mac n cheese with peas and carrots tonight for dinner. It was good.

I like mac and cheese....especially the white cheddar kind. I have some baking to do today for the Easter supper tomorrow that I am hosting. Citrus glazed ham is on the menu...and only 7 people to cook for so it will be an easy task. I also need to head into town to pick up DD and grandboy later.....that is if she is still talking to me. I refused to babysit for her to go out partying with her friends this weekend. I am raising one...I have no plans to raise another Have a good Saturday Tina.

Taxes are pretty simple here to do...guess they make the process simple because of the high taxes we pay. Yay for getting it done. The meal went well, the kids were tired of each other pretty quickly though. Grandboy was running laps around the house yelling 'choc-it, choc-it'...(he loves chocolate). GG doesn't and quickly gave it all to Grampy. It is snowing at the moment...I hope it stops soon, I have to take GG to a b-day party at a cousin's house at 1 pm. The roads should be cleared by lunch time. Have a good day!

I miss her as well.
We made it to the party....I almost turned around twice. Snow at this time of year makes the roads slick, it makes a slush that pulls the car as it wants. I am glad we went though because we were the only ones who showed up. There would have been a sad 7 year old with no kids at her party.
Today is a cleaning day.

I get the most work done in the mornings...I'll be sad when that strays from me. We all have to slow down as we age though.
Today I have to pick up some produce at the local grocery...I am not looking forward to the cost.

I am on my DH's computer--I hope it co-operates for me to be able to post to you all.
I had a nice Easter--spent it with my Sister & her family. Missed my "family" though.
Sounds like you all had a nice Easter Holiday---(I did read back)
Good news is I will get to go see my oldest & her 4 children next weekend. It is her Son's 3rd birthday.
I hope to get my laptop back soon.....I will keep you posted.
