We didn't get an errands completed today because the electrician showed up to fix a light in our bathroom and ended up putting up an outside motion light too. This is the guy who always brings his long time girlfriend with him which aggravates the crap out of me but she was with him again today.

Well, Sheri, at least you had a repair man show up---I am not allowed to hire such an animal---and yet DH will not do the work he deems we do not need---

I am back home--from the party. I wanted to stay for the celebration at church tomorrow but nope---I came home.

I have photos----but I left my camera at my DD's. when I get it back I will post some in THL.

Sheri, We installed a motion sensor light also...now it drives me crazy because the neighbor's pets and wild life set it off all night. They passed a law that you are not allowed to tether any animal at night at any time of the year so they just unhook them and let them loose.

Yay for making it to the party Junie, I am sorry you didn't get to stay for the baptism celebration though.

We shopped yesterday....then a little boy followed me home.

I am not in any danger from landslides at this point. If there is a fire above me in the future,. that could change in the blink of an eye though.

I didn't see the generation photo. I'll go look. Junie one of the bathroom sinks has been sluggish for months and I keep hearing the promise of "I'll fix it." Getting ready to call a plumber.

Sunny, are you in the city limits? And dogs can just run free? What if they're mean dogs? That just seems crazy. I'm totally against tying animals to a tree or pole anyway but I don't think they should run free. Not safe for them or the neighborhood. What ya gonna do with that little boy? Send him my way. I know how to play kiss tackle.

I to have issues with a bathroom drain. I put vinegar & baking soda down it--I guess I need to do that again.

I'll join the 'sluggish drain' club...mine is in the kitchen. I have tried drain cleaner to no avail....I plan to dismantle the pipes in the spring. I need to air the house out well when using ABS glue.

Sheri, we are in a rural area. My next door neighbor put collars and an inground shock system on their property after quite a few incidents between me sending the police to their door....3 large labs running free that were not friendly ~It's the little house dog type that I have trouble with now.

GG and I are sick...no school for her today. We seem to have caught a virus.

I've got a spunky high school boy doing a little yard work this morning. He works during the morning then goes to school in the afternoon so he needed a little job and I've always got something for someone to do. He's joining the Air Force when he graduates.

So far today I have been to the dentist..and then I had a visit with my Brother-in-law and my Sister-in-law.
Now I am soon off to take my mother to her Drs. appt. Then IF I am lucky, I will get to go out to eat tonight.
But I am not counting on it.

You are going to miss that boy when he goes into the service, Sheri.

Back from taking my MOM to her Drs. appt. and also from going to the grocery store. All the groceries are put away and now I am waiting to go out to eat.
Bless my in-laws for suggesting this..today is the perfect day for that. Carol does not have to cook ...YAY !!

Originally it was the plan that they stay here..
BUT when Rod told them we would not be home until later on Sunday they decided to get a room in town so that I would be less stressed.
Well it was a god thing that they did not stay with us as Rod was very sick with his cold (I think it was some kind of virus as he got better in less than one week) and would have probably "shared" his germs with them.

So they came by today to visit with me and then tonight the 4 of us ate out together.

I am glad that Rod is better and you didn't get it, Carol.

Well spunky boy is cute and polite as can be but I'm not sure this is the kind of job he wants. I posted it as lawn service. Then when we talked he told me he thought I'd be better off getting a service to do the actual lawn maintenance and let him do odd jobs since he'll be leaving at the height of the summer. (I agreed this is the way to go) He says he has done lawn service before and has all the equipment and actually came in his really nice pick up truck pulling a really nice trailer. I asked him to cut the monkey grass, which he had to go back over, and then I asked him to trim a shrub, which I noticed after he left that he did not complete. I asked him to move some of Johnny's stuff off the picnic table and put it into the building and he did exactly that. A few pieces of PVC had rolled off the table and are laying on the driveway (right beside the table) but they are still laying there. He either doesn't have the sense to realize he should have picked them up too or he is not going to bend down to do anything extra. He originally told me he'd need to leave by 11 to get to school on time but came to me about 9:20 and said he needed to go home so he could drop off his trailer before school. He showed me pictures on his phone of landscape projects he actually designed and installed and they are very pretty but there's no way he could have misunderstood my post or our conversation. Wonder if I should wait to see if he calls me about returning or if I should call him.

We ceramic girls went to an Antique store today..it was fun...gee just think. I went to ceramics, went out to eat lunch AND we went to an Antique store..a good full day !!!

The news yesterday said the bug killing places are saying they are already receiving the amount of calls they usually don't receive until way into summer about ants. They said it will take a hard freeze, which I'm sure is not going to happen around here, to get the ants under control. Not looking forward to the summer time bugs. Ginger told me yesterday that the gnats are already so bad that they could be on their deck over the weekend.

Well Sheri--I kinda got a free day today. The Nursing home called me & sadd the Dr. called to cancel the pre op appt. that Marie had this afternoon.. AND Said he would come to the NH to see here there....
sad part is I have no idea when he will do that....

so I got to stay home and wait for my Christmas gift from Rod to arrive via Fed Ex.
You see, I finally ordered my Kitchen Aid 5 qt. stand mixer on Saturday. It arrived this afternoon, and I have been moving around the stuff on the kitchen counters so I could keep it on the bar so I could bake there easier..
I have wanted the kitchen moved around like that since we moved in in Dec. 2004. I finally got it all worked out. I am very happy.

What'cha gonna bake first, Carol?

I all seriousness, probably just a box cake for Rod... but it will be ever so much easier to do now----

I always said I did not want tools for housework as gifts. ever-----BUT as I could have done w/o a KA stand mixer I figure that it did not come under that heading...

Tina, how is the weather & your surroundings. All is on the news, so I have become worried.

All is good now. The next rain we will get will be on Sunday along with the Oscars. And the storms have not damaged much around here. So I am good and most of my nearest neighbors. are good. All is well. Northern California has gotten hit hard.

I am glad that you are safe/good for now. I do hope that that trend continues.

GG has gone to school...fingers crossed she is over this bug.

Junie, that mixer is too pretty to use.

Last week when I took DD shopping, she had bought a new butcher knife. I told her that it was too sharp that she should get a different one. She said she wanted the sharpest she could get. I then told her not to call me when she cut a finger off.~~~I got the call last night...she sliced her hand open just washing it. So I spent the evening at the hospital waiting for a doctor to stitch her up. Lesson learned.

Oh. I hope she's more careful in the future, Sunny.

Sorry for the northern part of CA, Tina. But I am glad that you and yours are doing ok. I think of you often.

We have another decent day here weather wise. "THEY" say it will be back to winter weather here this weekend, but then back in the 50'd next week. Soon we will all be sick in bed here as well. This constant changing weather is NOT a good thing.

I will be soon off to run a few errands. It is always something it seems.

Junie, did you post a picture of your new mixer. Years ago I had a stand mixer and gave it away because I wanted to declutter. Then a few years ago I bought myself one for Christmas. Nice to have when you need it.

Sunny, I did the same thing when I got a sharp knife. Wonder if we're hitting our fingers with the old dull ones without realizing it but when we do it when the sharp ones it's an injury. Ouch.

It's almost 11:00 and I'm sitting here in my jammies having done nothing. Got to get in the shower.

Hi all.

GG seems to be better and I am on the mend. DH is another story....working while sick takes a toll on a person.

There is no school today...meetings of some sort. We will head up to town so I can give grandboy a bath...I would have taken him here but we can't chance him getting sick. DD gets her stitches out Wednesday.

The weather has been milder, it is calling for freezing rain tomorrow...and snow for Sunday. Time to run errands today.

I looked it up and it's very pretty. The Pioneer Woman has a flowered or paisley one. I've never seen anything other than black, red, chrome in my stores. Did you have to special order the willow blue? I'd love a colored one.

Thanks, Sheri. Yes, I did have to special order the mixer. They had them at Kohl's and at Penney's but only certain colors. To get a true choice of colors one has to go to say, The Kitchen Aid web site, or Kohl's or Penney's site (I am sure amazon has them too).

While my first thought was to order from Kitchen aid direct....I had decided to wait until I got a 30% off coupon from Kohl's, and then order from there. That move save me a LOT of money. to order from Kitchen aid, I would have been charged around $100.00 more dollars than from Kohl's, plus I got a good amount more off with my 30% coupon.

I need to clean house today...why is that job never done LOL

I just made Rod a cake---Now when it cools it will need to be frosted.

In other news & notes, I have been washing clothes & dishes all day....

Good morning. I am cold. It is cooler than I like it. They are calling for showers on Sunday for the Oscar's but lighter than they were. So that is good. We are out of the extreme drought but still in a moderate one. We'll still need to watch our water consumption. I wish I had the energy to give my yard the attention it needs. But it is what it is.
Today I think it will be laundry and some hair cutting. Got to get the hair out of my son's eyes.

I have laundry and baking to tackle today. The roads are too slippery to venture anywhere. It is strange how the weather can jump from minus 34 to plus 34 in a few days. No wonder everyone in the area is sick.

Well, We are home from the party--and have eaten supper.

Well, Sunny, I had to use my new mixer to make sure it was in working order before I sent in the warranty & such.
Plus it looked to have Rod see that I had used it. AND funny story----The instructions say that one is not supposed to use soap when cleaning it..so a wet rag is all I will be able to use on the Mixer proper....

Also, it is the mixer proper that they do not want you to use soap on.
The beaters, bowl & spatter guard are to be washed with soap.
I even think that the stainless steel bowl can go in a dishwasher, not that I will do that.

I was going to make myself a 5 can soup, (one can each of black beans, corn, green beans, and 2 cans of tomatoes) but I was short 1 can of tomatoes.

oh well at some point I will. I shall have salmon, baked cabbage & baked potato instead.

It's raining outdoors. I did go out this morning and got sprinkled on but no real rain. I've got real rain tonight.
I hope it clears up tomorrow and I can get other errands run.

well I had to argue with a little girl that works in the customer service area of my medical insurance----BUT after an hour I found out what I was missing so now it is a waiting game for me to get what paperwork that I was missing. One more job done.

The dishwasher is running and now if I can talk myself into doing the hand-washed dishes it would all be good.

Well the dishes that needed hand washed lost out..but hey, tomorrow is another day.

Tomorrows lunch for Rod is packed & put away in the Fridge. I think I will soon be going to sleep. Tomorrow will be an early day.

I just sent DH to deal with the vehicle insurance. We have never had an accident or even a ticket yet they raised it over $200 again.....I am so fed up with the way things increase for no apparent reason. I was getting nowhere with phone inquiries...and I have zero patience for their excuses. Time for him to deal with it

O.k. rant over ~~~Laundry to tackle today...and a mess of tape residue from Grandgirl taping things everywhere.

Junie my mixer instructions say not to put anything except the bowel in the dish washer and to only wipe down the appliance itself. It doesn't mention no soap but "wipe down" makes me think it means no soap.

Johnny has been subpoenaed to court because the of the drunk driver who hit him. So it's not enough that he's been inconvenienced in not having his car and having to go to the doctor because of this drunk guy, now he has to take his personal time and go to court. Just doesn't seem right.

I am so sorry for Johnny, Sheri. I hope his time in court is short and good for him. And no, it doe snot seem right to me either.

My instructions do not mention "no soap expressly, it just says to wipe it...so I took it to mean no soap...still seems odd...but oh well I will do as it says.

back from ceramics......now to make supper.

I do wipe mine down with a soapy rag, Carol. Just don't use a very wet one because I don't want a lot of water in the works. I also keep it covered in plastic when not in use, for both moisture and dust.

Thanks Tina. I am thinking of having the kids buy me a cover for a gift. (the next time they ask me)
But a bag in the mean time would be a great idea..thanks so much for the idea.
And of course you are right--it should be protected.
