Hi.
It is in the minus 30's today....welcome to February. We get our coldest temps this month.
I got my first garden catalog in the mail yesterday....it sure brightened my day.

Sunny, I can't imagine. I keep saying that but I just can't. We were 70° yesterday - unusually warm - but nice. The high today is 45. Did you fix your washer?
Our rehabbed handyman, with no memory at ALL, was here yesterday and supposed to put up the trellis's for the green peas to grow on and I left and went to the dentist so he only did part of it. Didn't secure them and since we live in a wind tunnel that just won't work. I want to be able to give this man a job (mainly because I need him to do odd jobs) but I have to continually direct him because the heroine destroyed his memory. He will do whatever I ask without complaint but when he finishes the task at hand he can not remember the next task. 1. Cut the grass. 2. Hose down the mower and put it away. ...He will do #1 but can't remember #2. If I'm not here he'll leave with the mower in the spot that he finished cutting the grass. 1. Take everything out of the storage building. 2. Stack the stuff back in the building neatly.......he left everything out of the building and asked "what next". Thankfully we were home to direct him that time. Sometimes I'd just rather do it myself.

Wow Sheri---can you find some other person who needs a job...that or I guess just ask him to come on days that you will be home ALL DAY ??? I think it is very nie that yoi have someone who helps you.
Sunny. That is COLD. I guess I should stop complaining of my weather temps. Mine are not as mild as Sheri's but they are also no where as cold as yours.
Tina. I will cross my fingers for you. You have been dealing with this far too long to my notion. I will be checking back to see how it goes.
I had a bad night last night. I was in bed at 8pm and didn't wake until my Tylenol wore off & I needed more. I finally got up at 6:30 but I only stayed up then b/c I was cold and my mind was racing from one thing to another.

The phone company came. It's fixed for now. Online and sticking.And the phones work too. It didn't take him long at all. A month of waiting and a half hour of work.

Thanks, Tina.. I am better this afternoon...and the Tylenol is working wonders...and if Tylenol can help, I must be on my way to being better. Glad that the telephone company finally came--and I more glad that all is fixed now. YAY for you!!!!

MId-night walk thru. I got up for a bathroom and Tylenol run..and could not go back to sleep. I am hoping I can get tired again soon.
Tomorrow I need to take the girl's onesies to the store that will embroider them. Don't feel like it and Rod did offer to take me anywhere I need to go "but" he has an agenda tomorrow and I need to get there before noon..so I will go by myself...and make a run to the bank as well.
Then after a rest I need to go to the Grocery..He can take me there if he likes.

Today I need to go to the bank and the store for some things. I don't like to go on a weekend but that is the clear weather we have for now. So that's best for me.

Hi all. Yes Sheri, I fixed the washer...it was just a hard water build up in the water inlet valve. I am so thankful I took appliance repair in high school...it sure comes in handy to know the basics and google completes the 'not knowing' the rest. So sorry on the handyman situation...can they send a replacement? I wish I were close...you could hire me  Great news Tina...I am glad your phone/internet issues are resolved. Feel better soon Junie.

Today I got up and went to order the girls Birthday gifts. Then, because my DH did not want to be bothered to take me later, I went grocery shopping at Dierbergs. Lovely store but it was a chore as I do not know where things are, not to mention that the meat was priced way higher than it is around here. BUT hey, it is done...
I am headed to sleep soon. so I will say g'nite now..sweet dreams.

Good afternoon.
I feel much better today. I think I may have an easy time of it tomorrow.
Yes time does fly, and it is wonderful. So many bad things could have happened, we have all been blessed indeed....
The girls are going to be 1 yr old on the 22 of February, but their party will be the weekend before...Hopefully I will have many photos.....
OH MY..GG is sick again ?? I do so hate it when small ones get sick...I hope she feels better very soon.
We will NOT watch the game tonight. would love to see the Commercials tonight, but I have no desire to see some of the entertainment they say is lined up and I do not like Football in the least.

watched a stream of a LOT of past Budweiser commercials just now--they were great !! Nothing I saw tonight was better....and OH !! I did not think tonight's Budweiser Commercial was political in the least...I do wish I knew German though..
Going to bed soon, as tomorrow I have to go with my MIL to another Dr. Good think I am feeling better...

Sounds like everyone has had a busy day. I was only moderately busy. And stayed in all day. Tomorrow I will have a couple of phone calls to make about my phone bill and other things. I don't like making calls.

Saturday evening Johnny was rear ended by a drunk driver. Yesterday on the way home from church my car broke down. We managed to get it home but I was driving and ran one red light because I was concerned if I stopped the car would turn off because it was shaking so badly. It's at the Honda place today.

I do not think you are lazy, but hey--glad you will be getting things accomplished.
I can have a good list of work to do and somehow lose time so easily. I guess I will start writing my lists down so I get them done...
IT is very cold here today and will get colder, or so they say---snow is supposedly coming...we shall see.

Lazy days are good now and then Tina. Junie, lists keep me in check. I find I get more accomplished with them. They cancelled school today....it is still storming. GG and I just made a batch of molasses cookies...it smells so good in here at the moment. Beef stew is in the oven and I plan to stay indoors for the rest of the day

Beef stew that sounds good. I had stew meat in my hand this morning and I put it back & took pork steaks out of the freezer instead,

Sorry about the internet issues Tina....wish we were lucky enough to have underground wiring.
I just finished the storm clean up....just in time for this evenings storm. At least there is school today. The kids miss so much due the weather and Winter 'bugs'.
I need to head out later for milk, eggs and fruit while I still can.

Thanks about the graphics. They really need to be in a different order, but I am too lazy to do that. It would be quite a job to move them. Although all the x's and dots do help me. Our temps are dropping as well, Tina. And Rain is headed this way. We got about an inch of snow yesterday. The way it came down for about 30 minutes, made me think we were going to get feet of snow & not just inches. I cannot wait for spring. I wish I could afford a person to clean my house. But oh well. I wish everyone a great day !!!

Hi all. It is still storming...well more winds than snow at the moment. School has been cancelled again...the kids stay home more than they go it seems in February I got out to get groceries yesterday...I am so grateful for the little local grocer. They had a great sale on oranges, we will be eating them all week Not much planned here for the day. I need to do some baking but I am not sure our power will cooperate with me for that. Johnny is ok and I think the car is fixable. I hope the drunk was sent to prison. Be drunk if you want but don't drive dumb [BLEEP]. It was in the 20's this morning but by Saturday is to be back in the 70's. I drug the wooden pallets out of the pile and have them in their spot for the straw bales garden. I was smart this year and moved them away from the blackberry vines. I was scratched up all last growing season :)

Drunk drivers never learn it seems. I did make bread and some cinnamon buns....the power has stayed on surprisingly. You just know it will go off by the time I post this It is minus 32 outside at the moment with winds that are terrible. It's still better than mosquitoes though.

Sheri, your weather sounds just like ours here. Although while the weather was in the 20's late yesterday and this morning...right now it is in the low 50's.
Lately we seem to be getting one day cold & one day warmer--I DO wish it would make up it's mind & just do one or the other.
I will say though, minus 32 is WAY WAY too cold. My complete & utter sympathies, Sunny.

Yes I know they do. however we do not currently belong to Sam's. My one DD is no longer living in the area, and the other is 2-1/2 hours away..and I do not think that one would fit into my car for the trip home. I will look though.....Thanks for telling me. Goodnight everyone sweet dreams

Last time I mentioned a raised bed to my husband, Sunny, he suggested concrete blocks. Now mind you that is not the worst idea, but I cannot go and pick up my own---1) they are too heavy for me to lift, & 2) they would never fit into the Cruz. But it is free and easy to dream.
I was going to clean my kitchen & bathrooms today. Instead I will clean the front porch, was clothes, and then clean the bathrooms.

It's Monday and I'm going out and shopping today. Whether I want to or not. I need things. And the rains this week could last several days.
Saturday was just weird for me. It rained and wasn't supposed to. And Jonni went out with friends and that made it hard to sleep until she was home and tucked in. And my internet was iffy. I was just off my game.

Tina, hope you are having a better day this Monday. I told me sister and Johnny that I'm not sure what's going on with me but I've been extremely unsettled - like I'm waiting and expecting something to happen - but I don't know what. I'm sleeping ok but all day everyday I'm in some kind of "waiting" mode. Like when it's almost Christmas or almost the day to leave for vacation. It's beginning to bother me a LOT.
ToDeTa is sick so she has a doctors appointment this afternoon. She's eating and pooping normally, runs around outside barking like the lunatic dog she is, but everyone once in a while she yelps out like something is hurting but we can't figure out what's hurting. We've rubbed all over her numerous times and she doesn't flinch or pull back. We shall see.
It was 77° yesterday. My daffs and forsythia are in full bloom.

Good Morning. Sunny--sorry for all the company..while it is nice, I do understand how tiring it is. Sorry for the bad weather---(once again) I agree--come on March. Sheri: My DH called me in to the room where he has his computer yesterday...He was looking at welding projects..and there was a raised garden bed, with drop down sides. The (approximately 3 ft sides) would keep animals out. thing is if the sides re 3 ft. high they are 3 ft. out when lowered. I saw no way to get into the garden actual to weed or harvest the veggies. I will have to think of adjustments to the plans..and perhaps Rod & I can talk....  Tina: I too am headed out this morning. I have to go see if I can find Baptism gifts for the girls. This weekend is their 1st Birthday Party. Then the next day is a "celebration" of their Baptism which took place in March. I wish you all a great day!!

Good morning. Happy Valentines Day! . We won't be celebrating here. Or rather, we've been celebrating all month with my daughters favorites already, Reeses pb Hearts. To be followed by pb eggs, soon enough.
I am fine. The rains have done nothing but good stuff for us. Well except for downed trees and potholes in the roads and such.
Today we will get some more clean up done in preparation for this week's round of rains. They are supposed to last awhile so it'll be a long time stuck inside for us. I hope they get that spillway up north stabilized so those poor people can get back home.

I need some help.....
I have a range hood over my stove, it doesn't vent outside...it just has a charcoal filter. This morning I cooked GG some bacon, then it splattered everywhere so I turned on the fan. All of a sudden I heard crackling and smoke. I shut it and the breaker off...tore it apart and the wires are fried. Long story made short...any ideas of what would look nice in place of a rangehood? I honestly don't want to replace it with another...it never worked well anyway.

Do you have anywhere in your kitchen that vents outdoors? Not having a vent would worry me. A charcoal filter will manage smells but do nothing for CO2.
As for a decorative replacement, I am the wrong person. Anything above the stove would attract greasy steam and I hate that stuff. I would require something easy to clean. That wouldn't fall apart under assault of steam and scrubbing.

My first thought was a shelf..for things like salt/ pepper & such--handy but out of the way. And a shelf properly painted/varnished, could be easily cleaned.

We are to get rain Fri through Tues. It is cooling down in preparation for it now. But it is not supposed to be overwhelming for us. Except for those on the coast. It may cause more damage up north. But they got the spillway repaired and people can go home. Just be ready to evacuate again if called on.

The news here was quick to let us know that there was a major problem and that evacuations were being conducted, but have they said all was repaired & people were going back home ?? nope--not that I have heard.

The temps are going down here. The rains will come tomorrow night, I think. Then rain hard for a couple days and lightly the next couple of days. Then I'm going to send it all off east.

We were lucky to get a thaw last month...it decayed the snow quite a bit. The Southern part of the province seems to be getting the worst of it this month. They had to rescue 75 stranded cars on the highways there yesterday. A small storm for tonight for us....I have no plans for travel for a few days. I need to go look for a rangehood Saturday. DH won this battle

All that snow would make me claustrophobic. How in the world will it ever all melt? GG is tall. I imagine her a little girl. It's 49° here but so windy it seems like it's freezing outside. My plan was to do some yard work but I can't stand the wind.
ToDeTa is driving me crazy. Might have mentioned she has hurt her neck and she is NOT a good patient. I feel sorry for her because I know she doesn't understand not to turn her neck that way. If this lasts much longer I'm going to discuss the humane thing to do with Johnny. He will not like it and won't do it but it's not fair for her to be in pain although she is eating and drinking normally.

It stormed last night so today there is clean up and a few windows to shovel out.

No bus or train...I would go today if there were...(so as to not make anyone come & get me when they will be so busy on Saturday morning.) I looked back when they first moved there..there is a buss service in Edwardsville (town 20 minutes away) but apparently they do not go there.
I have a ride with my sister...so at least I will get to go to the party on Saturday.
GG certainly is tall for her age.

Sunny, I guess it's the angle of the picture that she looks so grown. I thought she was around 6 but then I thought I was crazy (no comments please).
Tina, hoping for no hurricane but hoping you get rain - not a storm - just rain.
Darbi didn't end up staying at school today. She rides with a friend and when they got there a lot of police cars were already in the parking lot and she heard that a few students had been arrested for threatening to "shoot up" the school so she text her mother who picked her up. According to Darbi the ring leader student was suspended Wednesday but was supposed to return today. And this is just student hearsay, Darbi said he was suspended for making that threat. I'm pretty sure if that was what the suspension was for that it would have been longer than for 2 days though. So I don't know what's really going on but a friend let Shelley know that by 8:30 there were so many police cars at the school that even the buses couldn't get into the parking lot. Glad Darbi is at home.

I am glad that Darbi is home as well. In this day & age, better to safe.....
Sheri, There is about a 10 mile stretch of 4 or 5 lanes in one direction when going down to see my DD. I do not do that kind of roads....so no I will not be going by myself.
BUT the good news is my DD says that a cold is nothing to worry about and that we should come ahead & stay. I am hoping that Rod agrees.

I have just spent all afternoon at my MIL's trying to calm her down b/c they need to move her and no one thought to actually explain it to her---just came in & began moving stuff & saying you have an infection, so she was really ticked to say the least. I finally got her calmed down to some point.
I hope that Rodney agrees as well....tomorrow will be another day so I hope he is feeling just that much better.
Off to find something to make for supper now--TTYAL

yes, and I know what she is saying is so as
1) I used to work there and I know how some people were...and
2) I was in a nursing home for my rehab with the last thigh repair & they even treated me like I had no idea what was going on..
and they knew I was just there for rehab..and that my mind was fine.

Glad the rains are done, Tina...Sweet Dreams. I too am going to sleep now. I have much to do in the morning, so You will likely not see me until either Saturday night (if I go to the Birthday party with my sister, OR I will come back in sometime Sunday night, if Rod & I go to my DD's together...either way--expect me when you see me. Sweet Dreams. and oh !! The next person in gets to open a new CH.....please.......??
