Thanks James.

I hope your repair is an easy fix Tina, How is the new worker fairing out?

Junie, keep Rod at bay....Winter colds are awful.

We will be going to visit Grandboy today...and to take them grocery shopping.

We still have 50,000 with no power in places....2 dead from carbon monoxide poisoning with another 2 in hospital fighting for their lives.(all 4 separate incidents)...day four for them, they have declared a state of emergency. Pipes are bursting as well, people are freezing. To think of such things this day and age is just heartbreaking. It shows how dependent people are on power.

Good morning. I've been up awhile but couldn't get in before. I have to shop today. A few items only but they are important to me.
I am glad you have alternate sources if your power goes out.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Sunny, that's just terrible. What is your temperature. Lots around here are unprepared for cold weather because we rarely have it. The power goes out all the time but it's rare that someone freezes to death and then it's usually a homeless person who for whatever reason doesn't go for cover because shelters and hotels do offer boarding for the homeless in extreme cold conditions even if it causes overcrowding. Burst pipes have been keeping Johnny in business for years. How in the world do plumbers get around in your kind of weather? I read that this is your second worst power outage every. Glad you have power and hope everyone else gets theirs sooner than later.

We met friends for our tour of the 25 best restaurants in NC in Blowing Rock yesterday, it was snowing. windy, and 21° and I was practically frozen. I can't imagine what it's like at Sunny's house. The restaurant is The Game Keeper and it's #12 on the list. The food is local, sustainable, and expensive. Johnny had beef tenderloin. I had trout. $106.75. No one in our group thought this a place that they'd plan to return too. The restaurants are usually pricey but the food but the food is usually very good.

Thanks Jamesyay

WOW $106.00 I do not think I could enjoy a meal that costs that much--well unless it was a special occasion. I am glad that the food was good, Sheri. That made it better I am sure.

sweet dreams from me as well.

Good afternoon. Rod has a full blown cold. I went to see my MIL and then I was going to go out to eat & bring home something for Rod. he said not to bother that he would eat soup when I came home. So, I went to the grocery, bought some chicken legs & they are currently in the oven along with some onions & carrots for me. I AM starved.

I think I am getting the cold....I bought some Emergen-C to take. I like the Aireborne but this was cheaper. Plus my Pharmacist says that he likes the results with the Emergen-C better. So, we shall see how it works for me.

Tina, I sure hope you get your internet fixed to your satisfaction soon. I can see just how frustrating that must be.

Good morning.

Sheri, it has been in the minus teens and twenties this week. Do you go on restaurant tours often? It sounds like fun.

Tina, have they figured out what is causing the internet trouble?

Feel better soon Junie.

Another 2 have died and another 31 in hospital. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Still over 20,000 with no power...day 6 or 7 for them. I am calling for generator prices today...we will order one this month for sure.

Tina, hope your comment about it not being a good day was only about your phone service and nothing else. Glad to see you were able to post this morning.

Junie, it's 12:00 noon here. Why were you checking your time stamp? I'm not sure how to write this where it will be understood but I thought somewhere all our times are figured where we're the same or something of the such. Not even sure what I mean to say but I know in my mind somewhere. (crazy)

Sunny, a school class mate (she and I won the 3 legged race at field day in the 5th grade) put on FB that she was going to tour the 25 best restaurants in NC if any classmates would care to join. Johnny and I have been to 3 restaurants. I think they've been to a total of 6. We're doing it over 2 years because most of these best restaurants are expensive and that gives us time to save up the money. The next restaurant is in Charlotte and one that Johnny has frequented a lot over the last 30 years and it's not expensive at all. They don't even have seating. It's Prices Chicken Coup and he says you walk up to a window, order, stand and wait until they call your number, take your food and go. He eats in his work van while on the way to the next job. When my step dad was a policeman in Charlotte he'd get food from this place too. I've always heard that it's great food. I'm looking forward to trying it after all these years.

Junie, the food at The Game Keeper was NOT that good. Not work $106.75 for sure. We ate at the Waffle House for $20.00 last night and it was 100 times better than The Game Keeper.
Hope you don't get sick. Funny this morning on the phone Ginger told me "Colt is trying to get sick" and I heard Colt say "No I'm not. I'm not trying to get sick." Love that boy.

I was looking at others time stamps & then mine & I thought perhaps mine was off a bit...so I am going to check it out...I always thought that we each set our time stamp to be right in our time zone--so we have a better time reference. EX: if a person in one time zone posts, it will show up in my feed as my time so I have a better reference as to when they posted...I may be way wrong...but my time stamp seems to go wrong every once in awhile.

I find that a lot...I am sorry that you paid so much for food that was not good...BUT I think the whole concept of going to a lot of different restaurants is a fantastic plan. YAY for you.

Hi all.

I called for pricing on generators and was told that it is recommended to have a 4000W start up. Of course there are none to be found because of the current situation but we were told to go to the hardware store and put our names on a list....we should have one by April. shock

Not sure what today has in store...besides the usual.

Good morning. A generator in April is better than no generator at all, Sunny.
I will go out today and shop for a few items we need. Get my trash to the dumpster and such. In general, get ready for more rain.
I hope everyone has a nice day

I agree, to get a generator in April is a better idea that to have no generator. You will be ahead of the game come next winter. And, sadly next winter and all of it's troubles will return soon enough.

After ceramics today, I got some gas today and took my Mom her Christmas party item that "Finally" arrived yesterday.

Rod is still not well but is feeling better.

Hi all.

I agree with the April situation....and our tax return should be in by then as well, so no taking out of the emergency fund.

It is bitterly cold today...I think I will make a large pot of spaghetti and meatball sauce to warm us up. grin

Hi all.

DH was sent home from work yesterday with the stomach flu, he is still home today....need I say more?

Today I have to dismantle my washing machine...the water continues to drip in even when shut off and unplugged. I am hoping it is only a build up of hard water in the water inlet. I am waiting for the hardware store to open so I can get a bottle of 'demineralizer'. It's always something is't it?
