Sweet dreams all. I hope you can sleep through the shenanigans tonight. Or you don't contribute to it too much. I hope I can as well.
Happy New Year all.

Good morning. I have a very stiff neck. I tried a new memory foam pillow the last couple of naps. That is mistake I won't be making again, it's a good leg pillow though.
I am waiting on my meds to work and I will be heading off to bed again.

Happy New Year!

We had a quiet evening, GG spent the night at her mom's....we watched a Jeff Foxworthy special and had lots of laughs.

Tina, I find the best pillows are the older down feather pillows...I have two that have been washed and washed, covered with new covers and in due time will need to be converted into one. I told DH I already called dibs on it lol

It stormed last night again....the new year is coming in like a lion.

Does anyone have anything special planned for today?

Good second morning. My sleep came in increments but I see improvements now. My neck is not completely well but I know that it is going to get better and that's improvement over yesterday.
We're cold again. It's 42 outside. I am not fond of the cold.
It's going to b a good month and we may get some snow this week. So I'm kind of excited about that.
I hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful New Year.

Yay for James-----, we knew you could do it !~~!!

I am back home--we all had a great time. Well, except for the part where my DD lost her Wedding card with cash inside. Good part is the grooms father found the card in the street, & took it to the wedding couple. We did end up getting adjoining rooms and the 3 boys (Luke, Henry, Micah) had a great time playing with each other. AND Luke said that the girls liked him being by them----that too was adorable. Luke & Emily seemed to enjoy guessing who was who. That too was cute.

but anyway we are home..and Rod is "bored" so I have to go & take a photo of his Christmas gift & send it to Emily--TTYAL

I actually stopped using mine, I grabbed a king sized "Spa" pillow from Walmart that's firm in just the right places.

We had snow last night, it was supposed to be 2+ inches, nothing stuck; so much for a winter blizzard according to the news, lol.

Tina, Valarie's DH's uses the memory pillows---or it may be Sleep number pillow----either way they're $200.00 each. When she got him a new one they brought his old one here so he could use it when they stay. It feels like a stiff memory pillow, and it is also too firm for me (I tried it).

Your stiff neck should not last too long. I have been there.

Sunny, "they" say we too will have a bad winter. I was hoping that we would all get home before that bad weather began & if Emily & Chris get home tomorrow night before anything bad happens weather-wise, I will be a happy girl.

Well, I am now home so I will be around and until February (at least) we will be staying home.

I want warm food when it's cold out. I had oatmeal for breakfast, soup for lunch and a crustless chicken pot pie with biscuits for dinner.

me too, Tina...I had chicken noodle soup in cups to go with the Tuna Salad.

I just pulled a cake out of the oven, that helped warm the kitchen up some....I will bake French fries and some rolls to go with our supper tonight as well.

Warm food when it is cold is the way to go in Winter....and I think soup when your feeling unwell is the best medicine.

Donuts sound good...drop me off a few Junie grin

GG has started with a bad cough, the kind that only hits at night. I pray it is not the start of croup.

Not much planned here for today...too tired to do much and too broke to go anywhere haha

I did drive today. But I wouldn't have if I'd known how much I would hurt. But I got my banking done and the bulk of my grocery shopping out of the way. The kids hauled it in for me and put it away. I'm done for a week or more.

Gee, I was hoping you would be feeling better today already, Tina. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

I am thinking of running a few errands tomorrow..we shall see. If not there are things here at home to keep me busy.

I hope GG cough goes away without getting worse, Sunny. I DO hate winter---we all seem to be sick more often in the winter.\

Wish I could drop off some donuts, Sunny.

I sleep on a flat pillow. I think putting my neck at an angle, whatever it is, causes my neck to hurt.

Sunny, a LOT of people at church have a bad cough.

Junie, what do you do with all the stuff you make at ceramics.

I called and had to go in person to the Social Security office to unlock my account. Remember a while back someone tried to open an account in my name and I got a letter about it and called and they locked my account?? I asked a few questions. We are required to sign up for Medicare by age 65 no matter what even if we don't want to start receiving benefits. Some private insurance companies, such as work, may then start using their insurance as a 2nd payer - not all companies do this. It depends on what level of private insurance you are paying for. She said we can't sign up earlier than 3 months before the first day of our birthday month but if we don't sign up by the 7th month we will be penalized if we ever want to start receiving benefits (at either 10% or 12% I can't remember which) and that will continue and will accumulate yearly for 5 years after we start receiving benefits. (so at 10% at our 5th year of receiving benefits we would receive 50% of what our benefit should be). Carol, if you're receiving disability benefits you will automatically be enrolled in Part A but you if you want Part B and D you will have to sign yourself up. It is confusing to me so I called back and talked to a man who told me that we never have to sign up if we don't want too. Confused to say the least I called the Senior Resource Center (free help for confused old people) and was told what the first lady told me. So that's 2 against 1. I asked the senior resource person how the man could have been so wrong and she said she hears a lot of times that people have been given the wrong info but it's ultimately up to ME to figure out what I'm supposed to do and do it. My advice to you is to call now and find out what you need to do.

Thanks for all the information, Sheri. I need to go and talk to them b/c I think I have to wait to draw AFTER Rid begins drawing as I will be drawing on him..and HE was required to work until he is 66 which is 10 months away. he went to the SS office and spoke tot eh insurance guy art work & he can wait to draw and will not be penalized. Or so he was told...

I do intend to find out for myself what I have to do though.

Good morning.

Sheri, what a confusing process...I hope it all gets figured out. Junie, your turn next.

Tina, feel better soon kissie , you have been under the weather for awhile...rest when you can.

I had to make a trip to the bank, Walmart and such yesterday afternoon...the roads weren't too bad but it still took a little over an hour one way....being so far from 'town' really bites. I did find next year's Xmas cards at 75% off though.

We are bracing for a bad storm, it is snowing already...calling for a foot followed by freezing rain this afternoon.

Good morning.Keep safe, Sunny. It sounds like a lot of us were out and about yesterday. I guess the new year means fresh starts to many.
I've been in a lot of pain and tired from fighting it. I've barely made it through my evenings to bedtime. Dinners have been a hodge podge of what's easy and things. Just to post and crash.
I still have some pain but I'm really recovering now. It is going to be a good day.

Sorry for your storm, Sunny. I hope that you get what you need for the next little while accomplished before the bad weather really hits. How is GG feeling???

Tina try to not over do. rest & recover.

It is supposed to snow & get bad here tonight. I am going to go get a few things today, so I do not need to leave the house for the next few days.

I wish you all a better more healthy day.

Thanks all, we'll be o.k. This weather is the norm for January, there is about ten inches of snow down and we are getting ice pellets at the moment...I'd rather this than the freezing rain they were calling for.

Keep safe Junie.

Tina, did you hurt yourself or is it a lingering flu?

I had an incident with a memory foam pillow. It is just that incidents are stronger and slower to heal than they used to be in my youth.

Sorry for the ice pellets, Sunny. The norm or not, ice & snow are still ice & snow...UGG

Tina..I hope that you feel better soon. About getting older--the "person" who decided to call these our "golden years" was to my notion, sadly mistaken.

I need to go put supper in the oven. TTYAL

Hi all.

I remember the pillow situation Tina...you are so right, usually a day clears up those pains in a young person. Rest when you can kissie

Stay safe Junie.

It is the fifth of January and I am officially fed up with Winter....I need to be in Tina's tree house this time of year grin

Good Morning. breakfast It is still snowing here.

The good news is I can still see the top blades of my grass in places. From what I hear though the snow is moving my way from the west, so we are not done with it yet.

Tina, I hope that you feel better soon. Sunny, I am over winter too. But then I wonder why I live here, every winter..so this in nothing new to me.

I would like to go out & get the mail...but then I would have to get dressed.... rolz

Today's entertainment is going to be:

I just got the DVD colorized version of "White Christmas" in the mail today. So after a bath & hair washing I think I will mix up a cup of the caramel cappuccino mix that I got for Christmas and sit down & watch it. The time will give it time to warm up--it is cold like a ice cube.

and apparently the snow has stopped for now..Cindy (Preszler) said it would be over at noon---can't get much better than 11:56.

Whew what a busy day. And it's not over yet because I have to go down to the office and pick up my new modem. But I'm thinking a nap first.

Oh, I did not have to go far. Only to the office of the ranch next door. They collect my mail for me, sign for packages and things. I get it when it's convenient for me. And it's tucked away safely until I do.
My modem is on and I'm taking it for a test run.

That is surely a nice set up, Tina--I am happy for you.

I dread when we need a new mpdem..my SIL always took care of that....The one who lives in Virginia. Now I will have to figure it out for myself...and I am not good with that stuff.

Going to bed soon. G'nite & Sweet Dreams to you all.

Your SIL can still help you out, Carol. Just email you what to order. If you're worried about setting it up he can probably help over the phone with that. I had to get Jonni to read all of the little numbers and write them bigger for me.Then I set it up as my computer told me to do. Easy stuff if you have younger eyes.
I am heading to bed. Sweet dreams all.

Good morning.

Yay for the new modem Tina.

I hope you got a chance to watch your movie Junie.

I'm not sure what the day holds for me...my roofs need to be shoveled but GG is still on Xmas break from school and it is too cold for her to be outside today. I wish there was someone responsible in the area of age to babysit. There are two girls but their age and mentality are too far apart in my opinion.

Good morning. I know what you mean about babysitters, Sunny. I hope you find a solution soon.
I'm waiting on the weather to see if I might venture out today. Otherwise, Teddy and I will chill at home.
I hope everyone has a great day.

I will be staying home today. probably the roads (other than the one in front of our house) are clear, or clear enough. But it is COLD..so indoors here is where I will be.

I did not watch my movie--perhaps today..we shall see.

I wish everyone a good day

We are supposed to be getting snow then be below freezing, 9°, in the morning and Sunday morning so the whole state is on hold until it warms up. Hope everyone got to the grocery store. I'm just hoping and praying our power doesn't go out. We have gas logs, a kerosene heater, and a generator that will run some stuff but we won't have water and I can't stand that. I turned over the raised beds in the hopes that the bug larvae living in the warm will get murdered by the cold.

Good about turning over your raised beds, Sheri. You were thinking, good for you.

We always have water in the basement, for "in case" sometimes it is cases of individual 20 oz. bottles, sometimes it is gallons of water. we are mindful of the expiration dates and then use it before it goes out of date & then we buy more. Soap & towels & first aid kits in basement also. I guess I am also supposed to have meds in the basement as well, but I cannot afford to do that never mind the insurance companies not allowing me to buy extra...
Sheri, I am pretty sure our water works w/o power, we may not have heated water, but we will have water...why would you not have water???

I have no water without power either...mine is because I have a private well with a submersible pump. We always have drinking water on hand, at least 5 gallons at a time. Sheri, fill the washer for flushing potty's. Hopefully it will pass you by.

I just got back from making a quick produce run at the local store...frozen veggies were on sale as well, so I stocked up. I used the last of my frozen veggies from my garden last week. I need to be planting more in spring.

We had a well out at the farm. I for the life of me cannot remember how the pump worked. I am guess we too did not have water when the power was out.

Frozen veggies...I am down also...I usually buy them when they are on sale for $1.00 a bag. But apparently last sale I di dnot buy enough. All I have extra is corn and some asparagus.

I do not consider corn a veggie and DH will not eat Asparagus...so after my bag of broccoli is gone, we too are out of veggies. I do not buy canned with the exception of tomatoes.

I loved my garden out at the farm. I had potatoes for the 4 of us thru January and corn, zucchini & such for all winter. I froze my things instead of canning them. I also miss my Lodi apple tree. They made the best tasting applesauce. made a good pie as well, if you did not mind eating an applesauce pie. (they cooked up really fast.)

Brrr, that's cold, Sunny.
Busy morning. Cleaning my bathroom and emptying ashes up on the hill. I already half filled one bucket back up with hot ashes again. I brought in some firewood. I will have Jonni bring in more. Keeping the home fires burning.

HI !!

Home fires...wow I am envious, Tina. That is the best heat ever. I am glad for you. So glad that Jonni is there to help you.

Wow-- that IS cold, Sunny. You and yours stay safe. I am here cold with my temps (low 20's..but at least above 0*F ) and I was feeling bad for that....

I hope everyone stays safe & warm today.

Hello:

I have been cold all day. I have bene doing various chores all day. Making supper now then I will resume putting away my Christmas decorations.

I seem to work better after Rod has gone to sleep. That is a throw back from when he worked afternoons & I could work all evening in peace & quiet.

Have I said how much I hate winter ?? well in case I have not, I sure do hate it.

I dislike excessive cold or heat.
My phones went out in the rains today. Now they are back because I had an incoming call. Screwy.
I may or may not be able to come in to say it. So sweet dreams.

Good morning.

I dislike the heat more than the cold...that tells you a lot because our cold outweighs the heat where I live lol

It is still freezing here but weather like this keeps the snow at bay. We will not be venturing outside today...mind you DH just got called in to work to deal with drifting snow. It is so cold that the wind has dried out the old snow like grains of salt, it then drifts onto the roads.

I hope you all keep safe, there are storms everywhere. My cousin messaged me from Ontario...they had to shut down the 401 because of a 100 car pile up due to road conditions.

Good morning. Keep warm and safe, Sunny.
My new modem is up and running just fine. The phone lines however.... egad I have really had few problems with my phones for as long as I've had them. Especially being as my individual line runs through trees to get here. And we have gale force winds often.
I guess Verizon sold our services to Frontier and they tend to take longer servicing things. I will see how they do.
Today I have a new guy to work for me. I have high hopes. My land needs cleaning.
I hope everyone has a good day.

So glad you did, Tina. And we will know what is going on if you do not show up for a period of time. So thanks for letting us know.

My internet is off & on from time to time also. I used to call my provider every time, but I now know I have to disconnect my modem & then my router and then reconnect thenm---or the other way around..but it happens a LOT-----and sometimes my computer will just reconnect itself---

I hope your new worker is going to be a keeper.....

Tonight, after I pack my DH's lunch for tomorrow I will probably go to sleep as I have to get up early tomorrow for a Drs. appt. (just for lab work) and then I will go visit my sister & we will have coffee & nut roll together.....I get hungry just thinking about it.
Then I have grocery shopping to do, for the upcoming week.....next Thursday thru Sunday is supposed to be BAD, weather-wise. They are talking low temps & ice.

So, I will say goodnight as well. Sweet Dreams to everyone. snooz

Good morning. Here comes the rain. I love listening to it.
I was so tired last night. I just collapsed before 9. I rarely do that to my son but he seemed to be ready too. I am glad we have all that we need to wait out the week of rain. Watching the morning commute on the news. Glad I am not part of that.
I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning.

I hope the new guy works out Tina, manual workers are hard to find these days.

Enjoy your day with your sis, Junie.

It is in the minus 30's again today...I just called to cancel Grandboy's immunization this morning. It is too cold to be out with a baby today. I will not even take a chance of trying to start my car in these temps. Let alone getting stranded with a car freezing up on the highway.

I took GG skating last night....it is a 20 minute drive to the arena but she had so much fun. I might make it her 'bonus' activity if she is good for the week thumbup I have no problem using bribes to get the days going more smoothly.

Sunny I prefer cold over heat too but I don't know how much I'd like -30°. We were at 9° yesterday morning and I was frozen. For Christmas Johnny gave me a coat that weighs 3 ounces and says it's good for -8° with no activity and even colder if you're moving around. I wore it yesterday out to lunch yesterday and was nice and toasty except for below my knees. Guess I should have worn my ski pants :).

Our power did go out at 5:00 AM Saturday morning and came back on at 3:30 PM that same day. We turned on the gas logs and turned on the generator for the frig and TV downstairs. Was nice we didn't need to use it for lights. I could have actually done without the TV. Did you guys ever watch Green Acres where they had a certain number they could plug in at one time before breakers would start tripping? That's how our generator works. Johnny set up our Coleman stove on the screened in porch and I cooked eggs and made toast in my iron skillet.

As far as water, the well is wired differently than the generator. Every time the power goes out Johnny says he's going to fix the well to work from the generator then never does it. The stove is also 220 and won't work on the generator. We do have stored bottled water but it's just not the same when I need to wash my face or brush my teeth or wash out the kitchen sink. And I had begun to wonder what we'd do about Andy if the power stayed out a long time because he drinks 3 gallons or more a day.

I forgot to ask Sunny. Do you have spiders and snakes? My friend who used to live in NC but has moved to Maine says they don't have either because of the cold weather. She said the cold makes her face hurt sometimes if she doesn't wear a ski mask but it's a fair trade off from the bugs.

I think I'd store more water for Andy, Sheri. That would worry me.

That's a lot of water that he drinks....I'd keep extra on hand if possible. I buy large jugs of bottled water, they store for a year at a time. It sure is a mess to deal with either way.

We do have snakes and spiders here...none of either are poisonous. We only see them from May until October as well.

WOW< Sheri--I had no idea it ever got that cold in N Carolina. I am so sorry. When my oldest DD was going to University in Nebraska, we bought her a $200.00 coat (back in 98-99 when she was a freshman) that was insulated with down & was good for the likes of Nebraska...she loved it--said is was so very warm....

Andy ???...I am drawing a blank...sorry....

it is a shame that you deal with all the cold that you do and still have snakes & spiders...but I guess half the year is better than all year.

Cold here now---but it is supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow...I hope they are right....Have I said how I hate the cold........ why lol

Good morning.

It has warmed up here to the minus 20's...and GG is off to school. Crazy thing is that it is supposed to warm up in the next few days and hit us with rain, probably freezing rain mostly.

Either way...that means today I have to start shoveling roofs to relieve all the weight I can off the rafters. DH shoveled the roofs of the two sheds at the barn yesterday, luckily the barn is steep and the steel roofing takes care of that building. I am really debating to do steel roofing on the house and sheds....the older we get the harder it is going to be to take care of.

Take care of yourselves in the nasty weather you are all getting as well.

Good morning. I wish the bank was open so I could get in and out. But I will figure out a way to occupy myself until it is open.
I wonder if someone young and agile could make a winter living clearing the roof of peoples houses there, Sunny?
I hope everyone has a great day.

I am poking in.
I got my banking done. I washed dishes and got my trash down to the dumpster. And grocery shopped. Not that I needed to but I got some fun warming things. And salad stuff. I normally crave hot veggies in the winter but I've been craving a cold salad now and again.
I'm glad they are supposed to be here tomorrow to fix my line. It is still giving me trouble.
Now that I've rambled on, I'll be back in later.

So at Sunny's it warmed up to -20 and everyone went to school. At Sheri's it was 27F and schools started 2 hours late :)

Tina how much rain have you had lately?

Johnny found out tonight that his part of his medicine, because of dear Barack's insurance mess, will be $438.00 a month. There is no longer a gap where he will get to a level where he won't have to pay as much and then get to where he doesn't have to pay anything like in years past. For this entire year he will have to pay $438.00 a month on what he takes now. If any meds are added he will have to pay more.

Yep, I know--My brother LOVED getting insurance he could afford...with "Barack". Then 1 or 2 years down the road it changed on him &he could no longer afford it. Do not remember if it was because of the cost or if it was b/c of the charges after the fact like you are describing. Either way I am hoping that things are different/better by the time we go on Medicare & SSI.

I am scared to death...

BUT for now--G'nite & Sweet Dreams to you all. Keep warm & keep safe....

How funny. I forgot it was Tuesday when I posted that, Carol.
We have gotten some rains, Sheri. But not as much as northern California. Some of our burn areas have been hard hit but not me. So I'm good with it.
I hope everyone keeps warm tonight. Sweet dreams.

Honestly no...people wait too long then go in panic mode when they hear of rain or melting temps. My Uncle charges $50 a roof and has a hard time to find work...by the time most call him it is beyond his waist and he refuses to go. Then they complain of ice dams and roof leaks.

My mother learned the hard way one year....instead of maybe a $100 a month for roof clearing it cost her thousands for roof repair. Now she has him scheduled every two weeks.

We have 5 roofs here to shovel...and I keep on top of it steadily.

Sheri, that is a lot just for meds...I guess insurance does what they want.

Keep safe Junie.

Tina, I was just watching the news...what a mess in some parts of Cali. Keep safe as well.

Good morning. I couldn't get in through the heavy rains before.
Most of the worst you're seeing on the news is to the north of me. I've got it easy in comparison.
I have no plans today. Just puttering on house stuff. It's a very rainy day.

Johnny doesn't have Obamacare insurance but his private insurance has changed and it's being blamed on Obamacare because those that can pay are having to pay for those that can't pay or aren't paying what they should be paying. My insurance agent told me the same thing - that private insurance premiums will continue to increase to provide coverage for the subsides that go along with Obamacare. So private insurance is screwed and Obamacare is horrible. I told you about my friend who doesn't even qualify and Amy, who isn't offered insurance at work, was paying $50.00 Obamacare last year and is now having to pay $130.00 for the same Obamacare. Maybe we should all move to Canada when Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie McDonald go. Wonder if they really said that. Are they crazy enough to think anyone really cares where they live?

It's a rainy day here too Tina but I have already been to the gym (I'm trying to support Shelley in her efforts because she gained like 75 or more pounds when Colby was in the hospital) and to the library to pick up a book, and I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon. I'd rather take a nap.

Sunny do you climb a ladder, get on your roof, and sweep or blow off the snow? Is it your house, garage, and outbuildings? That's a lot of roofs.

Good morning.

I just finished making some rice pudding. MY grandmother used to make it all the time when I was little. I finally found a recipe like the one she used. It is basically a custard recipe with rice and raisins in it. You cook it in a water bath and then you stir it at 10 minutes, and every 15 minutes afterwards...I still remember her reaching in the oven & stirring hers. It made me happy to make it like she did and it will make me happier to eat it I am sure. BUT first, while it cools, I will make roasted cabbage "steaks" for my lunch...I cannot wait.

Sunny, you stay safe as well, we do not want you to fall off of your roof & get hurt.
Tina...so glad to hear that you are not getting the worse of the weather that California is getting. That is comforting.

Sheri: Our deductibles are horrendous..as are our payments.......
we pay like $400.00 a month for the 2 of us and then have very high deductibles (one for each of us) and High co-pays for Drs. Before all of this "Healthcare" stuff began, we had $1000 dollar deductales but then only $1500.00 for the 2 of us per year, so we were given a break small if we both used it in one year--not any longer, we just each have a deductible and the deductibles have tripled as have co-pays in the last 8 years..
WE would be far better off economically if Rod did not work (I do not mean retired) I am sure.
You are being a good Momma going to the gym...and you will get some benefit as well--a win-win.

oh well..I wish you all a good day

I

Sheri, I have one house, one garden shed, one storage/wood shed and two machine sheds by the barn, DH does the machine sheds. I use a large snow scoop that is two ft by two feet and a push shovel. It took me over 5 hrs to do my share of the roofs yesterday.

Today it is raining, what a mess out there...it switches from warm rain to freezing rain. By tonight GG will be able to skate in the driveway.

Does your DH do the barn as well??? I guess you have the smaller roofs, but still, that is a LOT. DO be safe, Sunny.

I do hate winter. esp. when it cannot make up it's mind. I hope your "precipitation" turns into only rain, Sunny. All you need is GG falling on the ice when the roads are impassable.

I have stopped for a bit but Ihave a kitchen to clean up form when I made some rice pudding. As it goes, I will get it cleaned up in time for me to make supper...

She said her barn has a metal roof that sheds snow naturally. It is just her house and other outbuildings. She was wanting metal on those too.
I am also not fast moving. It takes me awhile to complete any one project.

Thanks Tina---I remember that now---

When I worked at a Nursing home, the girl working with me thought I was lazy & so she watched me work all one night---so when she saw how I worked & worked until I got my work done--she told me "You make me tired" (b/c I worked so slow so it took me forever) BUT she did help me when she could form then on.

I did not sit down much today but yet I accomplished nothing I had planned to do...I make myself tired too sometimes, I take so long to do things..... rolz why

I will say "g'nite" now incase I do not comeback in. Sweet Dreams

Good Morning,......I guess. I am up WAY too early. For an hour now. I woke up as Rod was going to work & I could not go back to sleep.

I have a lot to do today, as of will be staying home tomorrow. He will be able to get to work, but not necessarily not have a safe trip home. So, he has decided to take a vacation day tomorrow.

I am off to have my coffee now--- breakfast I hope you all are sleeping...

Day before yesterday I went to Belk and bought a blouse that had the sleeves rolled up and buttoned. Last night I was going to wear it to church so I unrolled the sleeves and the right cuff does not have a button hole; there is a button but no hole. So this morning I exchanged the blouse - thankfully they had one in my size. Shelley gave me a massage for Christmas so I had that today and the woman complained about the problems and woes of being a massage therapist for the entire hour. She hates her job. It was not at all relaxing. Yesterday at recess a 2nd grader wouldn't leave Colt alone. Colt said he kept pulling on his shirt. According to Colt he asked "him nicely" to stop bothering him but he didn't. Then, according to Colt, he told him to stop bothering him but he didn't. Said 2nd grader is sporting a black eye and Colt is in trouble. Ginger said when she picked Colt up after school yesterday the teacher didn't seem to upset about the whole situation but I imagine the parents can press the situation if they feel the need. Since this boy is 2 years old and way bigger than Colt they may let it go. I haven't heard from Ginger today so I don't know what's happened.

Well, I am glad that Cold stuck up for himself, but in this world today, sadly, that is not allowed much. It seems to me the aggressor is the one protected these days. I do so hope that the parents of the aggressive boy do let it go, but if the child is like that, then I am thinking the parents are too. I do hope that I am wrong.

I am glad that you got your blouse exchanged, Sheri. And I am so sorry that your wonderful Christmas gift was spoiled. I am so sorry for you.

Good for Colt. I bet it was not a relaxing massege, Sheri.
I guess the telephone people got here but decided it was too rainy. They are going to be back about the 24Th. I am rabid.

OK--I KNOW I came in here I posted after Tina's post that began "Good for Colt"...I wonder what I did so that it did not post...????

anyway. Sorry the telephone people thought to not help you today. BUT I have to ask why they think it is OK to wait so long to come back....

I am headed to bed now----2 loads of clothes are washed & dried, so if things freeze the basics are clean.

I'll see you all at some point tomorrow (I hope) if the power stays on.

Hi all.

Happy Friday the 13th.

Sheri, you should put in a complaint at the massage place.

I am glad that Colt stood up for himself...it is the only way to stop a bully.

I had a dr appt. yesterday afternoon that was cancelled, then the dr. called again to say he could take me after all. Long story short...I finally made it to the appt that had been cancelled twice already.

I also picked up the grandkids Valentine's gifts...I love clearance items lol

It was a name given by our single mothers. You'd have to be a Knot Head to celebrate a Friday the 13th. For we kids it meant sodas and chips and for the adults something stronger. We none of us could afford it very often so it was reserved for a special date that didn't come around often. I loved it.

Thanks for explaining the party, Tina. It sounds like it was fun. Glad your mom did that for you.

Sunny we had crazy winds a few days ago--but with it we had weather in the low 70's. now it is 28*F. perfect to freeze the rain....Glad we are in for the weekend.

Junie, how do you make rice pudding. We eat a lot of rice and I'm always wondering what to do with the left overs.

Tina, a knot head party is a fun idea. Sorry you're rabid :)

I am still working on cleaning up my little cast iron skillet. I've tried everything I know. Can cast iron get to a point of no return?

I need help with painting or covering a window pane that already has a design painted on it. The already on design does not cover the entire pain so if I hang it on the wall the wall will be visible. I want to put some type of backdrop so the wall won't be visible. I need a way that can cover the already on design but not mess it up. Hard to explain.

I forgot to mention that nothing else has been said about Colt's actions. Back in the day kids had disagreements that sometimes ended with someone being punched and the kids got over it and remained friends. Current day parents get involved and want to sue everyone but I'm hoping these parents are not that type. Maybe they're asking their child how he got punched out by a 5 year old or maybe they realize their child is a bit of a bully.

about the window pane==why not put a lace design of some kind on the back--the current design should not be hidden this way but the empty place would be...

The rice pudding is essentially a custard with cooked rice added to it and baked in a water bath. I have several recipes but if you look around the internet you will find some. I do have a quickie rice pudding recipe that you make on the stove top that is good also.

IMO since the boy is older than Colt, I would like to think that the parents of said boy are letting it go. As well they should.
