Good morning. Happy Friday.
Carol, I hope you slept well. Burns really eat into my sleep.
Sunny, I wish there were a simple fix for your situation. It hurts all when a child hurts.
It's supposed to get hot and windy today. I'm as ready as I can be today.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning !

Tina...As much as I dread the thought of winter, I surely do not like the high heat either. I hope you make it thru the heat, It is supposed to be hot here as well for a few more days. Then into the 70's next week. I slept well but not long. DH wakes me when he is getting ready for work in the A.M.

Sunny: It is so hard to see little ones hurt, I hope that you get this resolved for what is best for your GG. All the changes right now are surely not helping..poor little thing.

Ladies: My finger is sore but I do not think it will blister---that is what I was concerned with. I keep Aloe Vera on hand & after soaking the finger in ice water I dried it and put a pile of Aloe Vera on it---I am hoping all I get out of this is a sore finger... why

Today I have to run a few errands as well. I do so wish my DH would learn to tell me he needs things BEFORE he runs out. I could have did this errand yesterday.. rolz

I too wish you all a good day.

I've been off cooking. It felt good. I haven't cooked much all summer. I have wider options now and an appetite that tends to come back about this time. Even with high temps outside.

Cooking--gee you sure could be cooking for me. I want a nap SO very bad--but nope, I am cooking bone-in Country Ribs & potatoes for mashing.

If I lived alone I would eat a bigger meal around 2 pm & then snack at night if I were hungry again.

I'm thinking after Rod retires, you may get him to fall into that pattern with you. It is pretty much how I eat too.

I sure hope you are right--but knowing him he will think "oh good, she is cooking me a big lunch--I wonder what is for supper"

Discuss it with him. Keep stuff around for snacking on. And paper plates to cut back on dishes.

While he's still working, I would not try it. A hot meal at the end of a work day is a comfort looked forward to.
But as I only have myself to feed now, I eat my main meals early in the day. And have snack-y foods in the evening. Sometimes it's a bowl of cereal or a salad or hummus and pita chips. Usually with fruit or a veggie.
Good night all. Sweet dreams.

Thanks for the advice, Tina...I think you are right about the food. Rod does not like to eat much lunch while working so when he comes home at night he is really hungry,

I am headed to bed myself, Sweet Dreams to you all.

Good morning.

My grandmother used to cook the biggest meal of the day at 1 pm, with extra meat so that the supper was leftovers. I hope it works out for you the same Junie.

How is the new helper working out Tina?

I am making a post in Hollow Log...

Good morning.
My new helper will be here to work on Monday. So I don't know yet how he will work out.
I'm out of it this morning. I'm glad I don't have anything major on my plate today. The day would be wasted at the end. So I have chance of making it better.
I hope everyone has a great day.

DH is outside with the backhoe he has rented. We have the trenches dug and will lay new pipe in a few minutes. We had drain tile but it was filled with soil completely....this new sewage pipe has no holes so it should work right this time to drain water from our basement. Tomorrow will be a full day of raking and cleaning the mess we made.

Tina, is it noisy from the weekend concert?

Whatever was going on with me went away on it's own. Strange. Guess it was a weird virus. And we finally got some rain. Things are all pretty and green again. My hair is a frizzy bushy mess but the yard looks good :)

I got rid of Jesus the yard man. I love Jesus but he just plain stopped doing a good job. It's been going on for several months. I now have Mr. Sullivan. He's been once and the yard looks better than it has in a long while. He said he's willing to do some handy man stuff too. Just hope he's as handy as Jesus.

I have a friend who is married to a big time farmer. Her big meal is at lunch with leftovers at night. It really messes up her whole day because she has to start cooking right after breakfast. It seems she's constantly cleaning the kitchen.

Tina: Sorry you were out of it today. I hope that you will feel better tomorrow.

Sunny: Glad you have the drainage pipe work done. Sorry you had to tear up the yard for that...We had to use a back hoe in the back yard to repair a basement crack. Luckily Rod cleaned up a mess.........Thanks for telling me about your relative, Sunny. I suppose it will work out. I am hoping Rod gets a part time job. That would keep him busy & we would have life be a little more like normal..we shall see

I am going to the HL when I am done posting here....

Sheri: I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. IMO there are all kinds of "new" viruses around these days.
A New yard man. Good for you. I hope this one works out for you.

.........I have a friend (2 actually) that fix their main meal between 1 & 2 pm & then coast on the evening meal. It sounds like a GOOD plan to me but I do not think Rod will like it---I have a feeling that he will expect me to "cook" 3 meals a day.( I pack his lunch, & then cook one a day now) We were talking about retirement today & he seemed surprised that I would not be at lost ends as to what to do with myself when "he" retires...SMDH...I am so worried about what he is going to expect of me that I am not even going to think about it until he does in fact retire.

We watched 2 Star Wars movies together this afternoon--evening..it was nice.

I haven't watched any of the star wars movies past the first 3 (episodes 4-7). I am just not interested for some reason.
I hope you can figure a way to retire that is pleasant for both of you.
Sheri, I am glad you are feeling better.
I am going to bed soon. Sweet dreams all.

Hi all.

I have half the mess cleaned up already...I'll finish the raking later. I cut back and replanted the ninebark...I might wait and move the perennials back in spring. It surely was a big job.

I do hope it stays quiet for you Tina.

Good to hear you are better Sheri. I am glad that you have a yard/handy man to help.

Junie, send Rod over when he retires....I'll cook in exchange for some help with the farm animals grin

I just finished defrosting and organizing the freezer....good news is that there is supplies for about 40 meals in it.

Good morning. I slept well and woke well.
One last day of concert then it is all over (I think). It is going to be another hot day today. Not ideal concert weather. I already have my cooler on.
I only heard snippets of the concert people. Various car alarms and police sirens. The fireworks were a bit noisy last night. So it is all good.
How exciting. Your first granddaughter's first visit. That will be wonderful for you, Carol.
Forty meals is good, Sunny.
I really need to clean up and inventory my freezers but it's not happening today.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hi all,

Just finished cleaning half the house and doing next months budget... dinner is in crockpot. steak and gravy... potatoes cooking in smaller crock for mashed... we are going to Derek's baseball games this afternoon... about 4 . I will only stay for the first one... can't sit in a lawn chair that long... the weather is changing and making me ache along with the changes...
Sunny hope your granddaughter does come to stay with you... you are her stability it sounds like... kids need that...as seems like fewer get it anymore...
Nicoli and I have lessons tomorrow... he did well on getting some of his online tests completed and got a skip a portfolio item so he wants to use it on the social studies timeline we had just started.. fine with me.. it was going to be a pain.... and just busy work as far as I could tell...

We have been thinking hard about selling our house here and moving back to Az.. but to Sierra Vista area, weather is not so hot in summers and a smaller town... we do have to fix up house some first..redo bathrooms, replace bathtub... and flooring in both baths... had a guy recommended and he is busy for next 8 months so trying to get hubby to call his BIL who can so all that kind of work and would help if asked I am sure... why do men have to be so stubborn..?

Well gotta get taters peeled and get ready to go soon..have a good day all..

Nana

I'll miss Jesus. I like him and he stays here 8 hours but I think he's working around the pecan trees more than in the yard. I should have never given him the pecans last year.

We went to see the remake of the Magnificent 7 with Denzel and it's great. I was exhausted after dodging all those bullets.

Sunny: question: does your DH know just how lucky he is?? You do an awful lot around the house to say the least.

............I will be sure to send Rod right over for sure when he retires. He does love to eat.....
............I should clean out my freezer--there is not 40 meals in there but I think I need a refresher as to what is in there--and the freezer needs defrosted, I have NO idea what I was
............thinking when he bought a freezer we have to defrost.

Tina: I am so glad to hear your concert season is over. I am sure life will be easier for you now...well until next round of concerts. Yes, I am so excited to have the Triplets here.
.........I think everyone in my family cannot wait either.

Nana: Moving....we think of moving closer to my DD with the triplets. BUT I just do not want to add to her burden as I age not to mention There are not enough of the smaller .towns so I could get around to do my shopping. She surely doe snot need me to add to her complicated life. What about your Daughter & the boys if you move?? I think she would be lost w/o your help. why Sorry just me thinking out loud.

Sheri: I remember when you gave Jesus the pecans. Yes that was probably not the best of ideas. I can see where his wife kept after him to bring more home. I will hope that your new handi-man is as good as Jesus was. You got to go to the theatre. I am glad for you. it is nice to have some time out together.

I am going to go back to wrapping some Christmas gifts for Emily & her family. Rod may come & get me when it is time for me to go home after helping Emily. IF he does, he will bring out what I have already wrapped.
I wish everyone a great evening.

Thanks, Tina--it is MT favorite time of the year--I love giving people gifts !!

I have all of Emily & her family's wrapped. Now, before you get too impressed with me, I did not have very much bought so it was a quick job.
One special thing though. I used special & different paper for "Santa" back in the day (when he came around for my little ones). Well, tonight I used the very last piece of one of the rolls that I had...it sure must have been a BIG roll is all that I can say !!!

I really should pack Rod's lunch & then get to sleep, as I must get up early tomorrow to go get my pneumonia shot... why it seems it is always something......

So, I will say goodnight to you all.

Santa used separate, special paper here too. He left me the ends of the used rolls every year and used something new the next year. It was cool.
I'm heading to bed too. Sweet dreams all.

Good morning.

I see everyone has been busy.

The weather is so cool now...the frost is in the air and on the ground. Good thing is that it means this week I can go pick my apples for jelly.

I have my tomatoes ripening also to make bottled salsa

Today is a clean and mop day...we surely dragged in a lot of gravel this weekend on my floors.

Good morning all.
That sounds wonderful, Sunny.

I was up and down much of the night. It's a good thing that I don't have much that needs my attention today. I don't have any. I am going to get some coffee and see if that helps.
I hope you all have a good day.

Apple jelly--My DH would be ever so impressed with me if I made that for him...I do not think that will happen however.

Tina..It was around 12 when I went to bed--then Rod had the bed so messed up that I could not even lie down, so I got up & stayed up until just before he got up--then I went to sleep in another room & he got me up to get ready for my appt. to get my vaccination before he left for work,

I had to have a nap this afternoon--now I am way behind...

I am off to cook supper now--- wavy

Tina why were you up and down last night? Plain insomnia or feeling bad? Sometimes if I eat late, like I did tonight, I don't sleep well.

We're going to visit Colt tomorrow. His school is doing something special every day this week for some reason and then Friday they have a fall festival of sorts. Nothing big, just each class has some type of game or special project.

Apple jelly does sound good. I should be so industrious because we have apple trees. If Johnny would eat this stuff I think I'd be more motivated to do something with all the good stuff growing around me. He doesn't even eat the strawberry jam I put up. I share it with Ginger, Shelley, and my mother. I might see if we have any apples the deer didn't get and make some anyway. It's hard to do anything with figs. They are so sweet I can't eat many of them and I don't like fig jam. I give them away to several people.

I don't know why I was awake so much. Probably the wind messing with me mostly. I hope I do better tonight.
Have a good time with Colt. It's wonderful that you have the time with him.

Yes, Sherri, relish those wonderful times with Grands...I know I do if & when I get the opportunities.

Some nights are just like that aren't they, Tina ?? I do so wish they were not though. I washed our bed clothes, so now I do not have to worry about a messy bed. I think I will sleep good tonight as well...at least I hope so.

I am itching so. I thought at first that I had ant bites form yesterday when I planted a red MUM that my BIL & SIL bought me as a thank you for putting them up for a few days. But now I am wondering about chiggers. I was on my kneeling chair that is close to the ground...

I have to make Rod's lunch and then I think I may be headed to sleep or the night Sweet Dreams to you all.

I watched the debate tonight. There was nothing else on. I did wander off and wash dinner dishes and folded some clothes. So didn't watch so much. I will sleep tonight. I got bored.
Sweet dreams all.

Good morning.

I hope you slept well Tina.

Junie and Sheri....homemade apple jelly on top of toast covered with melted cheese is my favorite Winter breakfast.

Today I have to take my grandson to see a physiotherapist...we are still at a loss as to why he does not want to walk.

Good morning. I hope you get good news from the doctor this morning, Sunny.
I woke up hot this morning. I'll need to wash my hair. Ick.
But in spite of the heat, I slept well. So it will be a good day.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Tina, the doctor said to leave him bare feet for two months..and to put anything he wants at a higher level and make him 'work' for it. We go back in two months, if there is no improvement then they will start exercises and special boots will be a must.

I went over my ankle at the hospital...it was a little sore, now it is aching. How stupid of me lol

Good Afternoon !!!

Sunny, good news on the baby. Sounds like the Drs. have this all under control That is good to hear.

I had a great day at ceramics. And a great time visiting with my ceramic friends over lunch. Now I need to begin organizing my house so I know what needs to be done before the weekend. It is a beautiful day here. I so hope the weather keeps this up for the weekend.

You should have had your ankle looked at while you were there, Sunny.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family, Carol.

Thanks Tina...I am really looking forward to it!!

Sunny, I agree with Tina. You need to take extra care of you now since you have GG to watch over.
