Good evening.
I had a full day today...weeding, lawn mowing and brush cutting. Then a good scrubbing in the shower.
I also just finished the food and party prep for GG's birthday party tomorrow. We made her pinata last night.

Good morning. The fire is laying down a bit and was headed away from me. So I am good for now although I feel for anyone in it's path.
So I need to go out today and pick up some things. I hope I can get out and home quickly. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep.

Let's see. I packed up my trash and took it down to the dumpster. And stopped to check my mail. Then I went to the bank and took care of business. Then off to the grocery store for $140 worth of groceries (no meat). I brought it home and had some help carrying everything in and putting it away. (Thank you Teddy and Jonni).
I'm going to toss a load in the washer and then nap.

Glad that you were able to get your errands run, Tina. Glad to that you had help hauling them in. I got my MIL some shoes,....although sadly the white slip-ons she wanted did not fit. I got my mom to her eye Drs. appt. One eye is doing good & she got a steroid shot in the other. So, I do not have to make that trip again for 6 weeks. I am bitten up on my one leg---I wonder if I didn't bring in chiggers with me a few days ago.

Yay for ceramics! Good morning. The fire is still there and growing, only 6% contained. I am including a map/article of the current situation. I live just to the left of the point where the 15 and 215 merge. The closest part of the fire is about 14 miles from me as the crow flies. But it's about 28 miles away by road through the mountains. I had a nice day at ceramics, and I also went to lunch with 2 of the girls & a granddaughter of one of the ladies.
She is soon to be 8 and is cute as a button.
I stayed up to watch the news, which was on late b/c of the Olympics, to see a story about one of the people from News 5 who had a premature baby girl & then began having health issues of her own. I have no plans for tomorrow. We shall see what comes.

Today Teddy and I have an appointment at IRC. It is his first appointment since the place got shot up by the terrorist couple in December. It will be mildly interesting. It's harder to get in than an airport because of security.
And then I'll take him someplace more fun.

The fire is about the same as yesterday, just more acreage burned, no structures. Yet.
I made my appointment today. I can't believe the security measures implemented. I was talking to the worker and she told me a story about a client who couldn't come in because her newborn had no ID. Insane.
I took Teddy for a shake afterwards.

He gave me a sip of his. I had coffee.
Like I said, this is the place that a lot of people were injured or killed during the terror attack in Dec. It's a matter of closing the barn door after the cows escaped. I do have to get Teddy some real ID though. All I have for him is a school ID and that won't do much as an adult. It worked today though.
I'm not even sure where or how you'd get an ID for an infant. A passport, maybe?

Here in Illinois, one can get an ID card from the DMV. It looks just like a drivers license but it is just an ID card.
Also here, I think they automatically send the parents a SS#. So I am thinking that would work---the only other thing I could think of would be a birth certificate?? Otherwise I have no idea either.....I guess they would issue babies a passport.....
I sent my Grandson a set of Gardening tools. Valarie sent me 2 videos of him opening them. (it took 2 videos as it took him a long time to open the tools)
I cried & cried for Happy. Best part was he kept looking right into his mom's phone so it was the best video ever.

I got it done enough for the propane delivery. That is good enough for now. And I am good for the next 6 months and more.

It was a wonderful gift (the video) the best part is I can watch it any time I want to see him.
Glad that you got enough brush cleared away for the propane delivery, Tina. I remember those propane days.

Hi all, I couldn't get into my computer at all. It finally booted but now my email account isn't working at all to send or receive...guess it is going to really fail this time. Also my keyboard has stopped working altogether.

Hope you get things fixed soon Sunny. And Tina, I'm all about security too. People are nuts and I suppose if you have a baby you might have a diaper bag or bottle or blanket which can disguise all sorts of things.
I quit my job Tuesday because I can't breath with the mold in the building (that is well known but the county continues to deny) and they called yesterday and asked if I'll work from home. Sure.

I have only watched bits of the games. I can't settle into them this year too much.
I am going to take Teddy through the carwash tomorrow and then into Michael's to look for things he would like. That should be a couple of hours of fun.

IN all honesty, I just turn them on around news time, as after the coverage is over for the night, the news comes on, on Channel 5 (KSDK) So I usually see the swimming & sometimes a bit of the gymnastics.
Sounds like Teddy is in for a good day tomorrow. Have fun at Michaels. I love going there & looking around myself.
I am waiting up to hopefully see the meteor shower...

And we're back. Teddy enjoyed the car wash and then he spent a long time figuring out what he wanted from Michael's. $77 later we are home.
What fun I had with him. Normally he doesn't want anything. He looks at stuff in the stores but usually places things carefully back on the shelves. This time he was putting things in the basket. I love that. And he put things on the counter for checkout and paid his 4 twenty dollar bills and collected the change. He carried the bags out to the van. And then into the house.
I am pleased with my day. And with him.

I work at the health department 2 days a week. It was a year in January. The program is called Care Coordination For Children. I'm not sure how it's going to work because I don't speak fluent Spanish and have to get an interpreter help me all the time, but the higher ups think it will so we shall see.

I just got back home. As I was coming out of a store, my cousin stopped, said come with me to see my great niece. (she weighs a bit over 8 pounds & came home from the hospital on Monday.) It was a good time.

Well phooey. The post I wrote earlier didn't post.
Teddy got some plastic animals and a lap desk with markers, crayons and stickers. He got a workbook and a bath toy. He chose well and it was his shopping trip for this year.

The not posting happens to me too, Tina--but oh well. We just had a rain storm here. Rod cut grass tonight after we ate, so then I went out, swept the garage apron & the front porch. Then, I set all mu pots from the porch out into the yard so they would get the benefit of the rain that was to come. So far we have gotten 1 & 2/10 inches. My flowers & tomato plants are so very happy (I am sure).

I am taking GG to visit her mom today, the are going to a festival...I'll just drop them off then head to the new place to start prep for painting the whole house this week. Sunny, yes be careful in the prep work for the painting. BUT I am glad you are doing it before your DD moves in. That is ever so much easier. Tina, I could not sleep either. I ended up being awake until 2 am  Rod let me sleep until 8:20.... Today we are going to my great-niece's 8th birthday party. It is always a good time as we all get to visit with family. (& we get to walk out & not clean up.)

I missed something. Sunny is your daughter moving in?
Our program is supposedly paperless so everything is put in a program that is on the computer. Paperless is really a joke though because we have this massive form that we fill out and then type everything we've written into the program. The program does allow other people to read the information but it's definitely not paperless. I also use the phone because I have to talk to my clients at least once a month.
It was 94° at 6:00.

Good Morning. WE are not going to church, but there is a full day of running in store. We are making a Wal-Mart run for one thing.
It is raining. I am glad that I left my pots out in the yard. Today when the rain stops, I will put the pots in their places on the porch.

Thanks Tina. I am glad too. When we got home, I was going to put the pots back on the porch--Rod said, well ya know it has not stopped raining yet---supposed to rain off & on until sometime on Tuesday, so I left them in the yard....

Sheri, DD is moving to a house from an apartment.
I went to clean...the house is so dirty that I cleaned the kids rooms to prep them for painting then sat there and cried. I called my daughter and told her once again that she had no business signing a lease to take the place as is....and that she can clean it herself.
I'll help her paint but that is it. She is going to learn a lesson the hard way. She has two weeks to houseclean the whole house, paint it fully from top to bottom...pack and move there, then clean the apartment where she is from top to bottom. Did I mention that she is lazy as sin? I am fed up.
I am glad that you are getting rain Junie, how did the b-day party go?
Tina, I hope you are spared from the terrible mess...the news stated that the Cali fires jumped a fire line.

Good morning. The fires that you may be seeing are not in my area, Sunny. The one that was closest has been put to rest with no buildings destroyed. The current fires are all north of me. And I feel for them very much.
I think I'll go out today for a few items. We need some milk and things around here.

Tina. So glad to hear that the fires are not so near you. I had heard that 10 houses were destroyed by fire out your way. So VERY glad that that is not in your area.
The party was nice. Thankfully it was not so warm that we could not site outside. Rod asked me why I did not get into the pool. I pointed out hat I had no suit. I missed my girls and their families. Valarie was planning on coming, but they had a family wedding to go that night and school begins today. But the rest of my family was there all but Brandon, so it was nice to see everyone.
so far today it has rained another 1 & 2/10 inch of rain & it shows no sign of stopping.
Good news is the high today is supposed to be 75.

OK I just emptied the rain gauge. There was 3 inches of rain & it was just beginning to let up some---it has stopped for now & I think there is another 1/10.
Great news..not...Rod is home. It seems the rain messed up some equipment at work & everyone was sent home.
Bless the Lord, I was putting supper in the crock pot so that went well---BUT then he says what is the stew for. when said lunch, he said well I will eat my food from work then for my lunch. SMH The boy is going to want me to cook 3 meals a day when he retires---you know, when I am that old myself ?
oh well....

Sheri, perhaps your parents got a good deal on it, since it needed cleaned so. When I went out to weed it was raining again, so I came in & stayed in. Then I just about fell asleep at 8 pm But knew I should not go to sleep that early. Tthen by 9 I was wide awake...I think I can soon go to bed now & sleep.(11:13) nite nite everyone

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get this laptop fixed so I can work from home. Union County's entire IT department is made up of people like me, no professional computer training at home or on the job learners, who have been hired to run the IT department. That's why we're in such a mess.
So hot and humid here. It doesn't get below 88 at night even.

I'm watching it. It moved a little closer but they are back on it with water dropping helicopters and such

Oh my Tina, so stay safe.. hope the water drops work and knock it out soon, we are getting a little rain tonit.. sprinkles but hasn't stopped so its good... first rain of any in over a month... have the water bill to prove it too..
Made chicken fried steak, mashed taters , gravy and peas.. green salad too... just felt like cooking today...
Our first day of school is tomorrow for Nicoli and I, hopefully he is cooperative and wants to just get it done... hubby checked out the best place to drop of and pick up Timothy at the highschool too...his first day is Thurs.. then Derek starts Fri... Timothy is working on getting his driving permit...next year he can drive himself and Derek .... weren't they just toddlers?
Well got to hit the shower and clean up my kitchen...it's actually cool here tonit... feels good... crickets are going crazy too... Sunny hope your Dd gets the cleaning done , sometimes it's better to stand back and let them dig out of the hole they dug themselves ..I know it's hard to do... hard on Moms too ,to let them but eventually they will learn..... eventually..........

Over night news on the fire has not changed much, still 82,000 people evacuated. 18,000 acres burned. Unknown number of structures demolished.
I do so feel for my neighbors. And I feel for the people caught on the roads.

Well, it's up to 30,00 acres burned. Now that daylight is here and they could crunch the numbers. All they have is dozens of buildings and that is a number I'd like to hear more about. I feel so bad for the people who lost homes. And grateful I am not one of them.

Well still 30k acres, and 1300+ firefighters on it. 10 fixed wing aircraft and 15 copters. Now they've brought in cadaver dogs because the fire came through so fast that they aren't sure everyone had time to get out.
We are to hit about 103 today. That is hot without a fire. And murder for fire fighters. I feel for them too.

Sunny, I agree with Tina about the beans. Did you cook any with potatoes for supper? THAT is how I like them. Tina...I will keep praying. Yes, thank God for the fire fighters. All of the fire fighters here are volunteer, so if your house catches on fire they have to leave work, or get up in the middle of the night, then go to the firehouse and get the truck. By that time your house is burned down. I have always been a big worrier about fire. I won't even go to sleep or outside with my dryer on.

Yes, I do like to stay up on the news. The fire more than doubled today to 65k acres. That a lot of fire. That mostly knocked the floods off my news.

They reported the acreage wrong earlier. It's 25,625 or so acres of burned ground. I can live with that. I can breath now. And I can go to bed.

Teddy is down watching them fill helicopters with Phos-Chek. That is the word for the red fire retardant. They brought tankers up to the ranch next door and are filling the copters up there. Very cool. Jonni drove him down in my van.

Good morning. It's going to be a good day. And it is Friday too!
The fire was creeping this way. At least one segment of it. But they jumped on it heavily and I am confident they got it suppressed about a mile away. I feel safe.
I feel for those who have lost their homes.

I am glad that the fire is contained away from you Tina....praying that it stays that way. I made 28 bottles of different cucumber preserves today...this crazy weather is agreeing with my cuke plants wonderfully

Great job with the cukes! That is awesome.
The fire burned 96 homes and 213 outbuidings. That number could change though.

so sorry for all the devastation, Tina. I so hope that it continues to stay away from your area. When you know someone who lives in the area, it makes the news of such things much more real.  Sunny !! 28 jars--wow !!! are those quart or pint ?? How much more will you do ?? Does your DH know how lucky he is ?? -this is me editing.my post....it is now 10:02 pm Just trying out my old tablet ........ I guess it works ..YAY

For the first time today I drove out to where I have a view of the tires. But the was no smoke or flames visible. So I am good and started unpacking my van. No evac for me. That a relief.

Good morning. I'll have to go out I think. I haven't been out because of the evacuation thing. It can be difficult to get back home when you live on the edge of the evac zone. It has been over a week since I have gone out and I need bread and milk and things. So I will go out early and get it done. As soon as the stores open in a couple of hours. I hope everyone has a great day.

Good luck in going out, Tina. surely even if the stop you, once you explain, they will let you back so you can go to your house.

I got back in without a hitch.I brought it in and put it away without a problem. And a hot meal is in the crock. I deserve it after all the work I've done.
