...............I am wide awake...which is silly as I just yawned..  But if I go to bed, I am suddenly wide awake... The good news is, I had the opportunity to open a new CH..YAY for us all. I guess I will put the coffee & hot water (for tea & cocoa) on & see if I can find something good to go with them.

Good morning. I hope you got some rest Junie. Tina, it is sad to see how towns deteriorate. In the past 5 years we have lost our restaurant, bank, post office and second hand shop. Now I have to drive 40 minutes to do what I could have done in a 5 minute drive. More rain for today....and I am waiting for the delivery of the toy box I ordered. Walmart contacted me to say it was too big to send by Canada Post and since it was not available in-store...they are forced to deliver by courier for free

Good afternoon (at least here it is). I didn't make any stops on my way to or from school today except to fill my tank. But I still didn't get much done. I had a lazy day so far. I will be cooking in a while for dinner though.

Lazy days are good.
I had to make a bank run....driving 45 minutes for a two minute errand really bites. Oh well, I stopped at the dollar store and got a wasp nest decoy and a trap at the same time. I am being bombarded with stinging insects this year.

Glad you were able to sleep, Tina. I was not--but as soon as I finish here I am headed to bed. I will sleep well tonight, I am sure.
That is a pain Sunny. I can only go to the Post office and the restaurant/bar in town here. The bank & the grocery store have closed here as well.
I only need to drive for like 15 minutes to get to a bank/ grocery store/ Dollar store & pharmacy but it is still a pain. The larger town with nicer stores (& heavier traffic) is like 25-340 minutes away.

Hoping your appointment goes well Junie.
We got a nice day here, cool but dry. I have one gable end finished...yay. On a yuckier note, I have a foot of water in my basement....as well as everyone else around here. The sub pump is working away at it.

YAY on one side of the gable getting done..One is better than none after all. Slow but sure wins the race. I watered my flowers and my tomatoes tonight...I am still hot from being out in the heat.

I feel for you all, Tina. Today it was 97*F here.
I am not ready for this heat either. BUT this heat is far and above better than any ice or snow that we could get....
every time I start to crab about the heat, I remind myself of the snow & ice. and I feel better.

I guess I made the official 'old' list for scammers. The IRS called me at 6 am with an automated call in a foreign accent this morning. It is kind of funny but sad that it has taken so many people for their cash.

I have heard of those scams but thankfully we have not had any calls. But then there is time for me to get them yet. Have fun at the dentist, Sunny.... I had a busy day. I washed a couple of blankets to put them away for the season. I've got a few more to go. Then I laid down for half an hour but was afraid of napping too long and messing up my sleeping schedule.

The dentist went great...then I got conned into taking GG to the school's variety show. Today I have many projects to attend to...as well as picking GG up after school for the weekend. Have a good day all.

Good Morning. After I scrub the floor, I am leaving to do some errands. Why, I may even do "Lunch out"..even if I am all by myself. It is MUCH cooler/less humidity & a cool breeze.  I am happy with that.

I would be happy with that as well. Our temps have been tolerable but we are going to move into some really tough heat soon. I am not looking forward to that at all.
I did take Teddy to school and stopped to shop. Then home to put it all away and now I'm going to do some quick things before I pick him up again. The abbreviated days are tough. But there are only two more weeks of them so....

Tina, I see the heat advisories are up for your area already...keep safe. We should be getting our last frost tonight with the changing of the moon in a couple of days. GG and I will put in our garden tomorrow. I hilled my potatoes and we planted up our containers and put them in the shed until tomorrow. My tomatoes and green pepppers have been hardened off and ready to go in the ground with the rest of the seeds as well in the afternoon.  Now if we could only get rid of the mosquitoes.

What do they use to spray for mosquitoes? We had a HEAVY frost this morning...the ground was covered in white. I am sure there are a lot of disappointed gardeners this morning. People try rush to get their garden in then lose it all. My mother and Uncle already lost theirs with the heavy rains....they need to replant again...thankfully my mother puts in a tiny garden so it isn't that bad. Today GG and I will be digging in dirt

Good morning. Congrats and getting your garden in, Sunny. That's an accomplishment.
Today is getting ready for school week ahead. But I am pretty relaxed about that because of the heat. It is supposed to be 110* tomorrow and I'm doubting Teddy will go. And I'm letting his beard grow out just to see. So baths and showers are a given just due to the heat and I love clean bedding but there's not much stress about the day. Tomorrow is going to be too hot to leave the comfort of the coolers.

We are getting hot weather also...well our kind of hot not yours. GG and I built a small birdhouse this morning....I love scrap pieces of wood laying around. We had an early Grampy Day this morning with cake and chocolate

Good, it sounds like you need the warmth, Sunny. I hope your gardens get just enough rain this summer without drowning. Birdhouses are fun.
I'm hot. One of my coolers broke, rusted through and I've been out running the hose over it to cool it off once in awhile. . It reached the promised 105* today. I have another cooler in storage in the woodshed but it needs more than just me to put it in.

I hope you can get the cooler out of the shed today Tina....time to call on a favor from someone. GG is still here, every time we get extreme heat she gets a fever and sore throat. This is the third year that this has happened. I'll see how she feels today whether it needs a doctor's visit or not. Another hot day ahead but I will take my couch and chairs outside and clean them with the Bissel machine, they'll dry nicely in the heat.

Good morning. I slept in for me. It was lovely. I have my cooler on already. It's going to be a tad warm today. I was going to wash and hang out my furniture covers today but they will wait. I'm not going out for much of anything. Even my mail will wait until tomorrow.
Sunny, I have my main cooler on the roof that is working well. I can use that. The ones that are broken are window units that help with the outlying areas of my house. They will wait for more moderate temps to be repaired or replaced. I wouldn't put my friends out in this heat for anything.

Good Evening !! I was online last night. I was sure I came in here...looks as if I did not--sorry.  I miss all of you as well. Tina, I read that you are having HIGH temps. I am so very sorry. I heard on TV that there are wild fires out your way, (well in California) are they very close to you??? Brian thought I was coming for one week...They both said I should decide how long I was staying. I told them both that I was there to help, not to be in the way or give them more work to do. So when they wanted me to go home, they should let me know & Rod would come & get me on the weekend. I am thinking if not before, I will be home by the end of July. I will try to come on every evening late, around this time, if I can. TTY all later--g'nite.

It was HOT yesterday...GG went home, then called that we need to go pick her up again. This virus is lingering with her.

Good morning. I'm up early. I turned off my cooler last night but turned it on again first thing. It warmed up inside during the night.
I am taking Teddy to school today although it's still to be over 100*. I need milk and bagels and things. So it's off to school for him and shopping for me.

I don't know how you can take that kind of heat Tina, it was 98* here yesterday and we were exhausted doing nothing.
The rain stopped and I went out to give my windows a quick wash....the dandelion dander stains the white frames if we don't keep on top of it.

Our heat is different than most of the rest of the country (ours and yours) most of the time. With no humidity to speak of the heat is much easier to take. And with a swamp cooler still better. The humidity outdoors right now is about 1% and inside is 60% and it feels nice. It also is easier to breathe with a swamp cooler than with central air conditioning. The only time a/c is better is when the humidity is up.

Ah, I understand.
I ended up having to take GG to the doctor today, 3 days of fever has been a warning that Gastro has hit....you'd think the school would tell us when flu cases are in a child's class. I have one sick little girl who is happy to hear she can drink all the flat gingerale pop she wants.

I kept Teddy home during the heat yesterday. 110 is too hot to go out in. I took him today as it cooled off a little. Only 3 students came to class yesterday and there were only 5 today. Yes, that is too hot for kids.

HI ! About the heat--we are having a break in the Heat these last few days. don't get me wrong--it is still HOT BUT IN THE MID 80's or a bit more---and the humidity is less... I will have to read about your swamp coolers again, Tina..I still do not understand. and I would like to. Perhaps the internet will help me to understand.  I kept the girls today for an hour or so by myself. While Valarie took the girls to the Drs. I kept Henry & he & I made breakfast. He was ever so happy. (we had pancakes) Good news is there is enough for him to have some tomorrow as well. Then when Val came home, she said gee I wish I had of gone to get my fitted sheet covers for the pack n play---So, I told her to go that I would keep the girls. So, she did & she took Henry with her..he was ever so happy to "get into the car". The girls slept for the most part. But when they are awake, they all 3 think it is time to eat....but hey you get to hold them then...

Good morning. Henry must love the added attention... for Grandma. Tina, is the heat forecast like this for the week? I received a card in the mail yesterday notifying me of a problem with a parcel I mailed...I have to go to the post office tomorrow to see what is the problem. I have no luck at all with mailing items cross border. Today I shall be mowing grass.

Henry is even warming up to me finally (although, Shirley (the other Grandma) wins over me, and Pa-paw (Rod) wins over me, he is asking me to help him sometimes & play with him....so this visit is a good thing. Why the "girls" even smile at me on occasion....

Strawberry preserves---yum !! I used to make Blackberry myself. I so miss the fresh jam (I made the jelly recipe into jam by forcing the berries thru the bag, so that I got some of the skin so that the jelly would spread like Jam...yum !!!

Good morning, well I made the jelly out of the tame berries I had...next year I need to add another variety to my garden though. I have been replanting suckers from the momma plants forever and they are slowly fading. It has been to hot to go wild berry picking. I don't know how you take this heat Tina.
Another hot day for today...and I plan not to do to much. I wish we had air conditioning.

Good morning. I was born and raised here. The heat is doable, just not my favorite thing.
I am up early. And turned on my cooler already. It's going to get hot today.
Today I will shop after taking Teddy to school. And that may be all I do get done other than dinner and dishes, etc.

Good afternoon. I got Teddy to school and shopped. (And forgot his bananas.) Brought that home and put it away and went back out for gas and picking the kid back up. I came home and laid down for a while but didn't nap. I made a lovely BLT for my lunch.
I may lay back down for a real nap.

I'll take one of those coolers as well.
I am going to head to town in a few to pick up the grandbaby for a sleepover....and hopefully find another cheap fan while I am there. The older I get the less heat I can take. I was hoping to buy an air conditioner this year but having to buy a new pump for the well over the Winter nixed that plan.

The evaporative coolers work great in dry climates. They don't work well with humidity. Our last heatwave was nearly 0% humidity and my coolers worked great. Today is 33% at nine am and it is struggling. At higher humidity it is useless except as a fan. And even then the water-heavy air is hard to push.

A good day with a nap in there for me. Another hot one tomorrow and I will cool down a little. We don't usually get so hot in June. The heat rolls in later. Usually. It doesn't bode well for the rest of the summer.

The humidity here is awful, we get thunderstorms then extreme heat....the kind of weather we usually see in August. I did find another cheap fan...and you can tell because it is flimsy. Mind you nothing is made like it was years ago no matter what the price. Grandbaby is sleeping and I am trying to persuade GG to go to bed as well. I plan to sleep good under the new fan.

ah a new fan, how wonderful---I SO miss our fan we had back at the "farm". It was a high velocity Patton (the brand) and it was so loud that I used it as "white noise". it was wonderful. It pushed around the air from the window A/C unit we did have. Central air is nice but I love a fan. I had a small one just for me. When I put it away last fall it worked great--this year it would not turn on at all...so it is gone. I hope to find a new one when I get home.
It is going well here....busy but rewarding.

The new fan is all plastic so I don't have much faith in it lasting very long. I didn't get my sleep last night, the grandbaby isn't comfortable sleeping anywhere except in his crib so he was up most of the night.

It's warming up here. But supposed to be a tad cooler than yesterday.
I got my boy home from school and am vegging now.
I had the last of the egg salad for my lunch. I'll have to move on to something else. And it's cooling off a bit which expands my choices. Decisions, decisions....

Good morning. Junie, if you have have control of the weather...then I'm putting in my order. Tina, you need to hook up a stove outside and convince your daughter to do the cooking with heat such as you have all the time, I bet a lot of fresh produce is eaten over big meals. It is raining and damp today....my laundry is piling up. It is too hot to use the dryer and too wet to hang things out.

I have a range top that I can hook up outdoors. (I have it primarily for canning.) Plus a BBQ and things. But the idea of eating hot food is not appealing. You are right. Produce is a big deal around here. Along with cottage cheese and other cheeses. And cold sandwich makings.
But the idea of Jonni cooking meals for us is quite funny. She has cooked but is constantly asking questions about it while she does. A kitchen is not her natural habitat.
So a day in my life is full of fruits and vegetables with a smattering of sandwiches, bean dips, hummus, a variety of salads and the like. And eggs. Lots of eggs prepared in a variety of ways.

I like cold pasta salads...in fact I might make one for tomorrow. I have a full day of grass cutting and such starting in the morning.

I am not fond of pasta salads anymore. I like most other kinds of salads. And I love pasta warm in casseroles.
