I went to the store after dropping my kid at school for Teddy's bananas. But Nana got me craving Stew so I splurged on a couple pounds of stew meat. I had the vegetables I needed here. I browned the meat and some of the veggies and de-glazed the pan with beef broth. Now it's in the crock to finish. I can't wait.

Sounds good, I haven't had stew in a while. I have to make a run to the butcher shop next week though....I might treat myself as well.

I wish I had remembered mushrooms for my stew. They fill it out beautifully.

I Like beef stew but it seems that even though I do not make it often, when I do make it I feel like I have just had it.

Mom would make it with fried Yorkshire pudding. MY grandfather was born & lived in England until he was 14. He would make the pudding & then fry it in a 10 inch iron skillet. I have never had a baked Y. Pudding.

I hope you ladies enjoy it very much though.

Well DH ruined the starter in his truck...trying to crank it over when it is frozen wasn't a good idea. Now I have to wait for a tow truck to haul it to the garage and wait on a big fat bill. I am fed up with Winter.

Good afternoon, I dropped off one grandchild and picked up another. March break begins today so GG said she will be staying here for the 9 days off. I am one busy Grammie.

Teddy's spring break begins the 18th and he goes back April 4th. Two longs weeks we get to relax. I think it's the last day off until memorial day.

Tina, the kids here used to get a two week March break but with all the storm days they wanted to extend the year until the first of July. The parents voted and a one week vacation was put in place.

DH's truck is fixed, $500 later....guaranteed it will stay plugged in on cold days.

I was told that I am going sliding later...after I snow shoe the sliding path down to make it go really fast GG really knows how to give orders.

Sunny, even my older kids got only one week of spring break. I'm not sure why it's two now. Probably has to do with all of the testing they have in schools now.

Sledding in the snow doesn't even sound fun anymore. I must be old.

Sledding doesn't sound fun to me either... sounds like I might break something...LOL! Got to sleep in today , first day all week... sure don't like Carrie training, they are redoing all the registers and way they do stuff at the store and she is training to take over the bookkeepers job soon so she has been putting in 10 to 12 hour days... good news is Nicoli and I are ahead a week or so in our lessons...

Well have neglected my house , have a ton of laundry to do and dusting and vacuuming... not to mention getting tax stuff ready for the taxman... almost put it off to long....

I did house work today. And waited for the rain. And then I took a nap this afternoon. It doesn't sound like much but it was nice to be home all day to do it.
I'm going to say good night while I can. I'm half expecting to lose power tonight.

I've had a busy day. So much needed to be done after the heavy rains. I got some done before the next storm rolls around tonight/tomorrow. And I get chilled so easily these days. I need to go fix a warm meal to warm up inside.

I had a long day yesterday..it was above the freezing point so we were outdoors most of the day. My old bones can feel the effects today

I have errands to run this afternoon.

Sunny, hate that about the $500.00 for the truck. You could have done a lot of fun things with that much money. And you're going to have a grand child with you for 9 days??? More power to you. I'm worn out just thinking about that. At least here we can always go outside for a while.

spring break for everyone here doesn't start for a few weeks. I think it starts Good Friday and into the next week.

Did I tell you guys that Colt had the flu. He acted sick off and on for a week or more and Ginger got a call from school that he had put his head on his desk one morning (very unusual for him so she went and picked him up) and the day before he had sat under a tree at recess instead of playing so Ginger took him to the doctor and it was the flu. He didn't complain of hurting and only ran a low grade fever for 1 day so it I wouldn't have thought flu either. Ginger felt so bad about it.

It is spring here. Everything is blooming and it's beautiful.

My cousin called this AM while I was still sleeping. I am supposed to be at Mom's right now.

Mom did call & I am taking her to the Drs. tomorrow. you know in the heavy rain & on Tuesday.
(not her fault though, that is when the specialist is on town)

Good morning. I am sorry for all that are ill. It is so sad when kids get the flu.
I slept well but woke to a sick computer. I had to do a total reboot this morning. And run scans and things. It seems better now.

I was gone most of the day yesterday...I try to put my errands all in one to save gas money but it is very tiring....Waiting at an auto shop with a hyper 5 year old wasn't much fun either.

I got a midnight call last night, scared the heck out of us...it was my cousin. She lives a 14 hr drive away and my Aunt and Uncle are visiting and decided to take her son back home for a few weeks (he was the one born with half his heart missing). They were leaving through the night but needed to reassure her that I'd babysit for them for a few days when their work shifts overlap. So after these 9 days with GG...I get another 5 yr old for 4 days

Sunflowers, you're a good sport. I love having my grand children with me and once Colt was here for 2 weeks but he was unhappy after 6 or 7 days and I felt sorry for him. He wanted his mother.

Junie, good luck with that check book. We don't balance our checkbook on paper anymore. Johnny checks the accounts over the phone every day and it seems to work. Hope your mother is ok.

We're going to a luncheon for a friend who is retiring as a nurse after 45 years. She's worked at the same hospital 45 years. That's a long time.

Good morning. Teddy was up in the night with a croupy cough so he is home with me today. I'll have a chance to get much more done around here.
Sheri, February was our lovely, spring-like month. March is stomping around like a lion and chilly.

Croupy coughs are the worse...I hope Teddy feels better soon.

Yes Tina, he was born with severe Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He has had 5 open heart surgeries plus other procedures. He had a stroke when he was one month old then last year his diaphragm was paralyzed for awhile. He is one sick little boy. He needs a lot of care and attention....of which I am happy to give. He is our miracle boy.

I just noticed the weather station is calling for freezing rain tomorrow. I was supposed to go to town...that trip will be cancelled.

Freezing rain is the pits, Sunny. I am sorry. Your little guy does sound like a miracle.

Teddy's cough is much better and his nose has cleared up beautifully. So it's back to school tomorrow. And I am so happy for him because I don't like to see him feeling poorly.

I went to ceramics today--then after lunch I took MOM to the Drs. for a check up. I wanted to go to the grocery but I did not have time. NOW, it is supposed to rain HARD from now until next Monday....so I hope I do not run out of food, or that there is a break in the weather so I can go out....well I have to go do 2 errands tomorrow anyway, so I guess I could get the groceries then.....

It is storming right now...6 inches of snow to be followed by freezing rain late this afternoon. We already received our 'stay home advisory'..of which I will gladly follow.

Other than that..it will be a day of baking, cleaning and playing with Play-doh

Play-doh was something my kids never got into much. I was glad.
I've been up for 3 hours. But I woke feeling rested. So I will go with the flow.

Tina. Sorry for the rains...If yours is El Niño then what is the excuse for us. It is to start raining at some point today & keep raining until say next Monday. I do hope they are wrong. Good news is side form problems with our basement, we have not had issues with flooding when they put out the warnings for it.

Play-Doh... My kids like it but I had so many rules for them to use it, they didn't really get into it much either.

Sleep--I went to bed at 12:30, after wanting to go to sleep at 7:30. Woke at 8 am & I am tired.

I have a dentist apt today & a meeting for my MIL tomorrow.

Yes, it is El Nino rains we are getting. They are more than welcome, they are needed. But, remember, after they leave here I send them on east. They are often not welcome there after they pass Nev., N.M., Az. etc. The southeast is definitely not needing more right now.
I stopped to shop after dropping Teddy at school. And then stopped for gas. I was really, really hungry by the time I got home. I put away my groceries with one hand while I put a banana in my face. I have burger browning now for dog food. He likes that. I think when the burger is done I'll cook up some eggs and hash browns. Did I mention that I was hungry?

Someone bought GG the Mega pack of Play doh for her birthday...a whole 36 cans of it. Of course her mother sent it here. It's not as messy as it used to be, it seems to clean up better than it did many years ago.

Now Kinetic Sand is the new terror toy and of course someone bought that for GG for Christmas. I swear I am buying it for every birthday party to punish the parents

We are getting ice pellets at the moment....even we have the effects of El Nino.

I am thinking Mexican food for Dinner.

OH MY--I bought Kinetic sand for both of my sister's granddaughters for Christmas 2014 LOL
