I'm not a good pie maker because I'm too impatient to make a good crust. My sister makes a great apple pie - bottom and top crust. Tina mail me a meat pie por favor.

I'm working my part time job today and for some reason this has been the looooongest day ever.

I thought I was staying home today also but school was cancelled because of freezing rain this morning. My God daughter and her kids have the stomach flu and her BF had to be at work for lunch so I had to head up. After that I picked up my daughter and grands and had to take them for groceries and such. What a long day.

Tina, I make my meat pies with 5 parts beef and 3 parts pork, 4 large chopped onions and beef broth. I shred up my meat like you would for shredded pork sandwiches after slow boiling it for 3 hrs. I mix it all, cool it then stuff my crusts. It is a traditional Christmas breakfast here.

It sounds delicious, Sunny.
I am very glad I kept Teddy home from school today because a court investigator was supposed to come to the house to check if he is properly cared for. I am very glad I did. Carol messaged me about an active shooter in my town. So I turned on the TV.
The shooting was a few blocks from Teddy's school and school was in lock down. So I would have been there to pick him up about then and stuck. I called the investigator and we decided to redo his appointment. It's a good thing because that office were locked down shortly after.
So 14 dead an an initial 17 injured at this time. Now all kinds of stuff is happening a couple blocks closer to Teddy's school. Maybe the shooters, maybe not. It's an interesting news day. And I am happy that I wasn't part of it.
Inland Regional Center (IRC) is a federal program that coordinates services for disabled children and adults. There are similar regional centers all over the country. Teddy is a client of IRC.

Oh My Tina... so glad you kept Teddy home... we watched the news all afternoon too... these things are getting way to frequent... feel sad for all these people....

I spent the morning with Nicoli doing social studies .. Derek had a half day so we came here when he got out and finished up his project for his portfolio .. 4 page report on the southeast part of the country.. I am not that good with word but with Timothy's help we got it done.. we are trying to get him finished with this semester so he can enjoy Christmas vacation. They lost me yesterday on the math.. went to measuring angles... with a protractor... I don't even remember doing that in high school , much less in 4th grade!! Jon had to do that chapter with him...
Well I am cold.. my poor knee is aching up a storm.. sure will be glad when it warms up... going to head to my tub and Epsom salt.. so tired... am so ready for school to be over..

I am so glad Teddy was home safe with you Tina, the world is getting scarier as each day passes.

I had to head back up to town after posting in here last night...now GG has the stomach flu. What a long evening we had...she is finally sleeping at the moment.

The washing machine repair man came today and has to order a part. I had my older washer 15 or more years and when it broke that was it but never had to have it repaired in between buying and dying. This is the 3rd or 4th time on this one. New stuff is crap.

Hope everyone is well and safe.

Thanks Tina, she is feeling a bit better...in fact I have a banana loaf in the oven for her at the moment (at her request), apparently it makes kids get well really quick haha

Sheri, I had a washer from Sears that broke down three times in the first month, they deemed it a lemon and sent me another of a different brand. I went through 3 washers in my daughter's teen years....all from breaking parts and pumps from those cursed wires in bras.

It's snowing out...such pretty big flakes.

Glad you weren't involved in that tragic event. So very sad. When I got home from town I saw that on the news and wondered if that was where Teddy went. You just never know anymore where you will be when something like that happens. People think stuff like that only happens to "someone else"...until it happens to them.

That's a point, Cindy. And I am very happy to see you.
Teddy got to school in time to get on a bus and go see the Nutcracker. He enjoyed the ballet very much. When they got back I was there to pick him up and dropped off some boxed juices for his class. It was a good day all around. Hard to believe that yesterday was not so much.

I agree completely, Cindy !!

We are home from Rod's Christmas Party. It was nice but not fancy. We went to a sports complex, ate at a Buffet & played in the arcade like kids. I have a stuffed minion & a tiny blue race car. thumbup I am sure the grandkids will be happy with my "spoils"

Ahhh...The Nutcracker. We used to take Rachel when she was young and into ballet. At the Opera House in Lexington, and got to dress up fancy. I loved it!

Carol, I wouldn't know how to act at a Christmas party...lol Never been to one.

Sounds like you used to have a grand time, Cindy. I am sure Rachel remembers those times as well.

Sure you would know how to act. These are not fancy. We wore jeans. You walk into a designated area, sit down, eat off of a Buffet and then if you want bowl or play in the arcade. We chose the arcade. Rod's Boss was worried that Rod was going to let me bowl---you know as if I wanted to....LOL

I had planned on driving up to see my Mom early enough to talk to the Dr. I should be there now. BUT, there was to be black ice--so I am home. I will go up later. It is supposed to finally get up into the 50's.

Good morning. I am looking forward to our weekend. It is going to be quiet. I will take Teddy and donate some toys we bought for the fire department. It's a happy thing to do. And he enjoys it. I also have two boxes of food for those who it can help. So that is my plan. Besides laundry and general clean up.

Good afternoon.

Nice to see you again Cindy.

I miss my husband's Christmas party..it was just a bunch of people eating at a chalet type restaurant and the men getting drunk afterwards. I enjoyed the laughs....they don't have it anymore since they have a new supervisor.

Be careful Junie.

Tina, that is very kind of you to help the ones in need.

Junie that sounds like a fun party. I like fun more than fancy. The only party we'll go to is at church.

The dance of the sugar plum fairies has always been my fav part of the Nutcracker.

I've done most of the errands today so hopefully our weekend will be nice and quiet too. We've got our downstairs bathroom torn apart so we do need to go pick out a top for the vanity and a mirror.

Hi,

We got a lot done today , if finding a way to display my Christmas Village again counts... brought in our old patio table. put a shelf on the back made with old shelf and 2 coffee cans.. hid the legs of the table with silver wrapping paper.. covered table with extra large table cloth.. then fake snow cloth over it.. and then houses, trees, people.. then lights.. need to some more lights so will take a pic tomorrow.. came out kind of nice...

Poor Nicoli is trying to go into an attack.. his sleeping schedule is off.. usually first sign of an impending few days of sickness for him...just feel so very helpless , can't stop it and not a lot to do to treat it either... you should see the notebook Carrie has to take to the ER with her if he goes... at least Children's Hospital ER has his "plan" on record and knows what works for him now... just wish it wasn't almost 45 min away...

Well time for me to go hit my tub for my old bones... this cold weather ,then warm, and cold again is giving me fits... getting old isn't for sissies, as my Mom used to say...

Have a good evening all.

Nana

G' morning. The coffee is good this morning.

We are on our way to make donations to the local animal shelter and to Goodwill.

Then it will be Christmas decorating I think.

Good morning.

We are heading out in a bit to go cut our indoor tree then apparently DH has errands to run on the same trip. It is a milder day today which is good.

I have to make a drop off at our local animal shelter also later this week, they always want cleaning supplies...especially bleach.

I never thought of donating bleach. I think that's a great idea. Our shelter never asks for cleaning things.

It could be that my local shelters have a corporate sponsor for such supplies. So they can ask for blankets, towel and food and things.

We left the house at 10 this morning going to look at hardware and stuff for the bathroom, got home at 6 PM having never made it to look for bathroom stuff. We did everything else but that. Oh well. Now we're both exhausted and still don't have a counter top for my bathroom vanity.

I've never donated to the animal shelter. We have a "people" pantry at our church and it's mentioned a lot that people need cleaning supplies. I usually think of taking food but people need to brush their teeth and wash clothes too. I have never seen bleach taken in. Good idea. I love Clorox. I need to see if I can find an animal shelter list.

And I am about done. Only baths and stuff left to do. And for that I have to wait for the water to come back on. Plumbing is being repaired.

Hello Everyone.
I just sat and ordered 2 of my Grandson's Christmas gifts from Amazon. AND I arranged for it to be sent to them direct YAY !!! now I don't have to wait for it to be sent here & then pay to have it mailed to them. YAY !! Gram is so very happy !!!

My sister & I also went to visit my Mom in the hospital and decorated her little Norfolk Pine that we bought her to use for Christmas. I have had a full day !!

It sounds like a lovely day, Carol.
I am very much looking forward to my bed tonight. I have over an hour to wait though. Sweet dreams all.

Good morning. We are ready for the day. It is going to be a lovely one, I'm sure. I hope it is for others as well.

Went with Rod to the Drs. I so wish he could go alone. BUT alas, they dilate his eyes far too much.

Now I am waiting to go get the oil in the car changed, then at some point we will go clean Church. (we are on the committee to decorate church & each couple clean for one week. This is our week...I will NOT be doing it alone.

Didn't you break your leg during your week to clean before, Carol? I don't know why I thought so.
Hopping along today. Dust rags are flying.
