Good morning.

Tina, we do have a small hay baler(it belonged to my FIL)...hoping we get the big field baled and in by this evening. We are already getting calls from people looking for hay. We'll be lucky to get enough for ourselves this year.

Junie, I might have to get this netbook completely stripped as well although I have no clue how they'll add all the programs back in...there are no disc drives in it. Even my page formats are all screwed up. It took me three tries just to get in here to post today.

Nice to see Nana back.

Hoping you all get more rest than I have been lately...I need to clone myself lol

Good morning. It's nice and fresh in here. Thank you, Carol.
I was thinking of your hay and shortages a couple years ago, Sunny. I hope you can get it all done.
I have a factory backup on my netbook. I'm not sure how to access it if I ever need it though.

Yea..when Chris (my SIL) took the desk top he also took all the disks & pamphlets it came with.
AND now that you mention it, I need to look for the container that my laptop came in, to see what I have in case I ever need to reformat my laptop. I knew where I had it. BUT it is no longer there. I do have a disk drive though, so I guess there IS hope for me.

It is going to get up to at ;least 90 here today... egad so our cool front is long gone.

Morning all,

Just talked to my youngest- all 3 boys got of to school for the first day with no problems... YAY! only Nicoli has a full day though- other two have half days today... this is such an accomplishment for Derek and Nicoli to be able to handle this without problems... so proud of them... and Timothy started high school... that's a major deal too...

Well we are going to take out nephew out for breakfast... and I need to go get my glasses adjusted - nose pieces keep digging into my nose- hate that ...

Well have a good day all!

Nana

Congrats to all three boys, Nana. That is wonderful.
I got Teddy off to school and stooped to shop. And filled my tank. Came home and put that away and fived up Ted's lunch stuff for the next couple of weeks. Now I feel like I accomplished something.

Tina, you sure do accomplish a lot in one day. I have always admired that about you.

Nana: congratulations about the boys. My they are sure getting big aren't they ?

I picked up the few items we were out of and then I shopped for the bridal shower I have next weekend, I also picked up a gift for my MOM. Soon I will start supper. It will be pork/beef burgers, corn on the cob, & a large lettuce salad.

Then will be off to my mom's to pick tomatoes for her.

Afternoon all.

Out boys all had good days at school... Carrie said Derek met old friends and even helped some other kids get their lockers opened when they couldn't... Nicoli had a list of stuff he still needed and so did Timothy so we went to the store to pick up the supplies after school... got caught in a rainstorm and got soaked... thought we might have to change our dinner bbq to grilling inside on George Forman... but it cleared up nicely so we will bbq... nephew went to visit some old neighbors of his for a while so we may be eating without him, didn't say when he would be back...

We are supposed to cool down tomorrow and next day... that will be nice....

Well off to soak my corn for dinner for the grill.... going to be a nice evening..

Nana

It sounds like a good day for your boys, Nana. I'm glad they had such a good beginning.
Although I napped today, I'm tired. Really looking forward to my bed.

Yay, Ceramics! My Tuesdays are happy again.
Good morning. I am ready for this day. We have moved out of our extreme heat danger. Now if they can get a handle on the fires it would be lovely. Not that summer is over. We just have a reprieve.
I don't know yet what I will be doing with my day. But I hope to make something positive out of it.

I am home. it is a warm warm day. But hey there is no rain---yet...I did think I heard thunder in the far-off distance though. I do so hope that I was mistaken.

Good evening.

Keep safe Junie.

Tina, we did manage to get our hay in...but not before we had people calling to buy it. Not going to happen...it is going to be a sad year for a lot of animals and owners once again.

Good to hear that the boys are doing well Nana.

We are having an extreme heat advisory...with humidity it has been in the high 100 and teens for the past 48 hrs. cry

Well, I hope that you have enough hay for your own use for this winter. I do hope that you will not have to worry about it getting stolen. why

Such HIGH temps zoink That is terrible. I really think we have messed up the atmosphere for the earth.

All is quiet now. There may be another round of rain tonight---we shall see.

Good Morning !
Good Gracious. I just checked the rain gauge. We got 2-3/4 inches of rain last evening & over-night. Sad thing is, it is over-cast now, so the rain is probably not done.
Usually by now the yards are mostly brown & grass cutting is only done every 3 weeks or so. Rod has been cutting every 3 or 4 days, & truth be told it could be done a bot more often, but what would be the point.

Today I am off to my family DR. for a check-up.

Good morning.

Good luck with the check up...and no worries, my hay is all stored on the lofts in the barn thumbup

Tina, soon there will be nothing to share with anyone I am afraid. The news just brings more bad news for the agricultural farmers. I seen they were talking of your area and the horrid El Nino on the way, they said there was also another kind of system coming in and were unsure what would happen when the two meet.

Calling for thunderstorms for the afternoon....and I need a day of rest. Mind you my lawn needs a mowing but will have to wait.

Good morning. Hope you have a good checkup, Carol.
I am glad your hay is in, Sunny. They are calling this El Nino a Godzilla. And there is something else they are calling the Blob. I do not quite understand the blob thing but it could make for a wicked winter for those who get winter. Hunker down and keep safe everyone. And store food!

That's the blob effect. Maybe they will cancel each other out. I hope for rain myself.

OH MY ladies..thanks for talking about this. I really do not have much stored...I guess I had better get at it.

Just today I was telling MOM about how to freeze tomatoes,,(I do not can) I guess I had better go to her house & get myself some of her extras to freeze.

My husband is a bit shaken up of hearing about how our Winters are changing..he is planning on replacing our wood stove. Although I like how it is encased so that you cannot burn yourself by touching it...a wrought iron type would be better for cooking on when power goes out, and it does a lot. They also use less wood so that is an added bonus. He already told me to start searching sales.

It is raining this morning...cutting my grass is now off my list for today. I do need to bake some sweets though.

I keep trying to make myself remember the bad snowy winters we used to have back when I was a child. I know we put on our heavy coats & gloves in late October and didn't take them off until sometime in March. Now we wear them just a few days a whiter...While I do not like it, I guess we have been here before ? BUT yes, we need to all get prepared for bad bad weather.

I do feel sorry for Sunny though. What could be worse that snow up past your roof??? yikes

I may go out today & weed some. IF it does not rain.

Hello. I am glad at least at least some of you are preparing for a bad winter. If it doesn't happen, that's a good thing. But if it does, you won't have to do without. I keep food stockpiled that we eat all the time. As we use up the older stuff, it gets replaced with new. So if I keep 15 can's of soup on hand, I am constantly buying new as the older ones get used. The same with pasta and sugar and flour, etc.

On a regular basis, I have extra bread, sugar & flour in the chest freezer. I have several boxes of various paper items ( sandwich bags, gallon & qt., aluminum foil, etc. @ or 3 large containers of coffee, extra TP & paper towels in the basement. and pasta & canned goods also. I used to have extra peanut butter stored in the basement, until Peter pan had that contamination scare. Now I just have 1 extra at all times.

But I guess I shall try to start a larger store of dry goods. IF the boy will let me. (he is the need it now, buy just enough type of person, and HE has control of the check book now.

I just got a text from Emily. Her DH got his official orders. he WILL be working in D.C. just as soon as the house sells. It will go up on the market tomorrow.
Is it bad of me to not want it to sell until after the holidays ?? why

Good on the things you have on hand, Carol.
I think he is very lucky to have a job that gives him time to move. It is not wrong to want your family near on the holidays though.

My SIL is a government employee, and in the Navy Reserves.

He has 2 years to sell his house. (which is bizarre to me, but whatever works I say) he has already flown to the main office last week. So I guess that is how they will work it.

Good news is I get to go spend the day with my grandsons tomorrow. Rod will pick me up on his way home tomorrow night.

Thanks about the extra items on hand. My MIL taught me that. She is a nice lady for sure.

Hi all,

I have been napping today so not tired yet... first day of school was good, second not so good but we worked it out and they are happily going again.. so want them to adjust and be okay... Nicoli has to go just 15 min tomorrow for a reading test... and no school on Mon for him... so we will have him all day both days ... health wise he is doing well... knocking on wood to keep it that way... Derek has had mostly good experiences...he is getting better about telling the teachers what he needs , extra time to write ... one teacher used my suggestion to let him take a pic of the written instructions on the white boards with his phone...he was so happy they let him do it as long as he just uses it for that and puts it away after...

Our weather is changing daily now... can feel fall in air... much cooler morning and nights... I too have extra stuff stored , big cabinet in basement with my extras... and freezer is full in basement too... never know when we get stuck inside in the winter , Carrie is hoping her hubby gets some kind of animal this fall , he has tags for deer, elk and something else... she will have to buy a freezer but sure would save her a bunch of money...

Well I am going to get some water and head to bed... will read till I get sleepy again... won't take long.... don't know why I am so tired today.. changing weather maybe...

Nana

Good Morning ! Cool this AM here. My coffee goes well. I did my exercises & put away my clean laundry already. Beowulf is coming again for awhile. So, I also cleaned off his livingroom chair. (he is allowed to sleep on just one of my chairs. I hate it really, but when all the kids are here it is needed.

Emily just texted me. Apparently the 2 boys took turns being awake last night, ALL NIGHT, so she is not coming to get me until after their realtor appointment. That is fine. I will not be so rushed this way.

Nana: It is good to hear that the boys are doing so well. I hope the trend continues. It is good to hear that the teachers are being so helpful. That is how it should be, for sure.

Those are good ideas. Happy hunting to your son-in-law, Nana.
I'm going to shop today for the weekend ahead. And then hole up for the duration.
I hope everyone has a good day.
