Golly there have been a lot of fires reported of late.
Tina, I am glad that the fires are not coming your way, that is a relief.

Sorry for the loss of the trucks & cars though. I do so hope that no one was hurt.

Wow

What a blessing the platoon folks were at that time.
Glad he didn't get hurt or anyone else.

I am safe for now and probably for good with this fire. But it was sad to see about 20 cars on the jammed freeway going up and the people told to leave their vehicles but not told where to go. The elderly, some with walkers in 99* heat. 15 homes destroyed at least.

OH MY Tina--when you said cars & trucks were burned, I assumed a car lot or something. The roadways are in jeopardy ?? Goodness. I would like to think that TPTB would send help for theses people. gracious. Thankfully you and your family are ok, but gee this does not sound good...I am so sorry for everyone.

I'm glad he had people around that helped save the plane. Was it his or a rental?

It was his plane. He just recently bought it...well, not him but his millionaire girlfriend he has been with for over 20 years. I reckon it totaled the plane. He hit a log in the water. Last week he flew to Ohio and landed in the Ohio River because the other pilot that was with him needed to pee and the nearest runway was closed. He is going to get killed in one of his planes one of these days...he has three now, and one is a bi-wing stunt plane. I guess he will die doing what he loves the most...being in an airplane.

Now that would scare me to death. I am so afraid of fire. Many (23) years ago before my mom's house burned down she called me, frantic because there was a forest fire near her house. (Her property is surrounded on two sides by the Daniel Boone National Forest). When we got there the fire was almost at her house. It was so scary...but the fire people dropped something from the air and got it out just in time.

Good morning. Waiting to see the state of our fires this morning. A second fire started late yesterday about 15 miles from the first.
Cindy, I am very glad your brother got out safely. The stuff they drop on forest fires is called foscheck, a fire retardant that is a miracle stuff. My house has been saved by the foscheck drops twice.
I don't know what I am going to do today. We will see.

Cindy, I am glad that your brother is safe & sound.

Tina, I hope that you continue to be safe.

This morning was productive indeed.
Rod took me to get a blood test that my bone Dr. wanted me to have. Then we went to breakfast (don't get impressed, we just went to McDonald's.) Then on to my MIL's bank to do some banking for her. Then on to OUR bank to do some banking for us. Home a bit before 10 am.

Tonight we have an 80th birthday party to go to for the husband of a ceramic's friend of mine.
Then tomorrow afternoon there is a party for my nephew who is home on leave for 11 days. He is in the army. I am certain this boy was just born....LOL

I am thankful your brother is safe also Cindy.

Dodge, DD has reproduced...she was broken up with the father before she even found out she was pregnant.

Junie, hey breakfast out is better than being home....even if it's McD's lol

Calling for rain here for a few days...I just made molasses cookies and put the bread in the oven. May as well bake and get fatter haha

I am waiting on the rain we are supposed to get. It will do a lot to lay these fires down. I've gotten my house rain ready. I won't bake though. It is too hot and steamy.

I do hope your rain arrives soon.

I hear you on the hot and steamy...I should have waited to do all the baking, now I have all the fans going. I also have a large pot of strawberry jelly waiting to be made on the stove. My mother bought a very large amount of tame berries and say that they are too ripe for eating touched I have never heard of such a thing....either way it is free jelly to me thumbup

Jelly or jam? With the fruit in or just juice?

Jelly. I made one batch of jam with wild strawberries, one batch of jam with crushed tame ones then one batch of jelly with processed tame berries pushed through a sieve and added liquid pectin.

Good morning...pouring rain out there. It's going to be a long few days with this cold damp weather.

Good Morning !!

As I have said, I so miss my homemade jelly.
I let the berries drip thru a bag then I forced the juice thru the bag..it gave me the spreading consistency of jam but no seeds, or pulp. The first time was a mistake then I did it that way all the time.

While trying to get some fruit and doing it again this year is out of the question, I think I will do it next year. I may even make some strawberry. (I made blackberry all the time) Rod likes the strawberry.

Raining again here.

Good morning. I got up with my cup of coffee with my dog and went outside to pull weeds. It is so much easier when it's wet out. We may get more rain over the next couple of days and every drop is a blessing.
Today I need to go out for a couple of things that I have put off. There is no more putting off or we will starve. Well, we won't actually starve but we do like our sandwiches around here.

There were 3 fires down in the valley today (one caused by fireworks) but thankfully, they were all put down before they spread too far. It has been many weeks since we had any rain, and none is in the forecast. Today the temperature hit 103 uhuhh
