Good morning.

I have been watching the news, the weather damage and death toll is so sad.

We had bad thunderstorms yesterday as well...and it reached 94*F here. Can you imagine? Just a couple of weeks ago it was snowing. touched

Good morning. Cooler here this morning. It is only to be 89* today. We'll see. I am not ready for summer full blast yet.
I am not sure what I am going to do with this day yet. But I will be sleeping on clean sheets tonight.

Oops! Hope it's all OK, Dodge.
I just ordered Teddy's clothes for the next year of school. He's so easy because he wears the same thing every day. Just the colors change. And the sizes haven't changed for a couple of years. Nice to have that checked off my list.
I'm trying to decide what we will have for dinner tonight.

:DAlls ok here.........

All I do it take a dry towel an wipe it down.
2nd time this year I got caught like that.I was in town for food, an it was all sun there.

By time I was almost home, My area was soaking wet........Funny how the weather moves in waves.

Do they have clothing sales right now at you area? For Teddy etc??

We have some here, Mostly I was hunting hanging baskets for $5.00 filled with posies.
Lowes had 2 for $10..

I used to order a lot of our clothes. in the last year or so Penneys has stopped carrying the "Penneys" brand (I am assuming so people would buy the brand name?) and so I go out & buy our stuff, because it needs to be tried on. why

I am glad that "fixing" your car was an easy thing to so, barb. That must be such a relief.

Rod is out buying us some chicken dinners for lunch & some groceries for next week.
he makes me laugh..
he said he is going to start using the credit card to buy food so he knows how much he spends...
See, he prefers to use cash for everything. BUT when he does he is upset when it is gone quickly LOL.
I know I have said how he has always been the type to want to take his $$. save some, pay the bills & then still have plenty to spend on whatever he wants to----as a result,HIM handling the finances is a very good thing. LOL
When I was in rehab yet, he was complaining about "he did not know where the $$ was going" I just said "yep I know what you are saying but it is your problem now". I loved that.....LOL

well, I don't know if they miss me, but I sure miss them.

And yes it could always be something worse. I have always said, when a person thinks things are really bad, they just need to look around. They will soon notice just how good they actually have it.
And that includes me. I know just how fortunate I really am. winky

I am glad you were close to home when the clouds let loose, Dodge.
There was a good deal at Land's End today, $50 off when you spent $150. They have the quality and fit I like and don't fall apart around a busy boy.
It always gets me how far money doesn't go. I shop often and when I count my money, I expect to be able to afford all the milk and bread I want plus meat and fun stuff. It is always such a shock how much stuff costs. It will be good for Rod to see where the money goes. It isn't always easy.

I had to laugh at poor Rod's expense.. Joe is same way- somehow he thinks things cost what they did 20 yrs ago... we really need to buy a new bed for guest room... told him I had to save up for it and it would take a few months after we get back from vaca... he said he would go price them... well after a few hours looking he came home and said okay save up.... LOL! He always has sticker shock... he did the same while I was sick and he grocery shopped- came home and asked when did eggs get so expensive? Then he decided we should just buy beans and I should learn to make tortillas... eat like his mother used to feed them when he was growing up .. there were 11 kids... well no we aren't going to do that... not as much as he likes to eat meat... LOL!

Carrie and I shopped yesterday for clothes for Timothy.. he has gotten so big nothing fits him.. Joseph did give him some clothes .. so Timba's got handed down to Derek, poor Nicoli hasn't grown to much so his from last year still fit.. he is still small for his age but slowly catching up...we are on month 3 of no attacks for him so we are keeping our fingers crossed for a long and permanent remission for him... this is longest he has ever gone...

Well off to finish laundry .. got my self a new swim suit yesterday too.. so had to wash that .. and keep the rest of our stuff up so I can start packing it up..found a couple more cooling towels for myself too... after I had heat stroke a couple yrs ago I don't want a repeat of it.. already got Nicoli 3 of them .. one of his triggers is getting to hot.Carrie got him battery fans too , one with a mister so hopefully that will keep him cool enough..

Have a good day all!

Nana

Thanks Nana: it was good to hear I am not alone. Watching mine figure this out is going to help me with passing the time..LOL

You should have seen him when I said That we had eggs that had to be used up so some night we would be having eggs for supper so they would not go to waste...If I had money for the look on his face, I would be rich. LOL

I love the cooling cloths also. Mine are all "dead" so I too need to replace them. Not that we will be going anywhere much this summer. Even if I would be cleared for travel, Rod is worried to have me on the roads LOL.

Oh, I love breakfast for dinner. And John did too. I lucked out with that. Deviled eggs is something else you can do with eggs that need using up. Maybe that would please him more?

We had scrambled eggs and pork sausage for dinner last night; little teeny tiny bites for me with the jaw issues, lol.

I haven't really thought about dinner tonight, and it's approaching that time now... Really getting sick of semi-solids and liquids at this point; but my jaw is doing a lot better finally, couple of more days and I'm expecting to not have any problems.

Yeah, we've got a Vitamix blender, so a couple of handfuls of spinach, strawberries, blueberries, some whey protein, and usually some unsweetened vanilla almond milk; a meal in of itself.

Glad you are on the mend James.

Can I join in on the food price topic. Prices are climbing steadily here...eating decent will soon be a luxury only few can afford.

I freeze stiff all summer, and can.
Come winter , lots of soup on the menu.

Lots of garden folks here. AN we share with each other.
Not only are prices rising, but they are tricking us by making the boxes, cans etc. smaller .
Like we don't know it .....

James I am glad to hear from you. And to know that you are doing so much better. and for now--YAY for soft foods. The steaks will be on the menu sooner than you think, I am sure.

Dodge, I used to freeze what I could and make jellies & jams.
Now I just freeze what I can. I have never canned anything. I am afraid of my lack of ability. I understand freezing.

This year there will not be much to put up perhaps a few containers of tomatoes, IF my plants do well after all. why

BUT yes, I too have noticed that prices are going thru the roof. It worries me, esp. since I cannot put garden in this year.

Good morning...hot tea and fresh date squares for breakfast luv

I preserve what I am able to and freeze as well but I think I am going to invest in a pressure cooker and a mini greenhouse if things keep up. My zone makes it near impossible to grow so many things.

You are right Dodge...cans and boxes are shrinking steadily as well.

Good morning. Waiting on the sun to rise to go out and commune with nature, my coffee in hand. Meanwhile, I'll take a date square. Thank you.
I often think of a greenhouse and you, Sunny. Wondering how you could make it work for you. Such extreme weather and snow.
I need to go out and buy a couple of things today and set up my budget for the month. I will also work on haircuts for both my self and Teddy. We need them.

I so envy your mornings outside, Tina. Enjoy it for me as well. A greenhouse...sounds good to me. But Tina has a point. I think you might consider possibly building it onto an existing building and make it out of sturdy wood & glass so it would stand up to your snows & such. It does sound like a wonderful idea though.

I will add some bread pudding to the offerings this morning, but please pass me some of the date squares. YUM !!

Speaking of haircuts, I got my hair chopped off in rehab (& I think it was chopped & not decently cut) so I could better care for it, but I do need to wash it this morning.

Well, most of my haircuts are chopped. winky
Yes, the idea of Sunny on a glass roof, sweeping the show off, is not pleasant.
I have taken my morning walk with my dog and my coffee. He is not long for this world. I'm sad.

well you are 100% right of a glass roof not being a good idea. she would need a regular reinforced roof and then windows on the sides==well 2 sides possibly.

But then I am sure Sunny would do it properly...

A nurse coming this morning to "admit" me to the home health program. Then at noon the physical therapist as I had said--busy busy day here.

Books are done and bills are paid. Dinner is in the crock pot. I cut our heads and we have showered off any strays so we don't itch. I'm trying to figure out what I've forgotten. But a nap will be taken while I stress over it. Or not.

I NEVER BEEN in a beauty parlor in my life.
Always cut my hair an hubbys an sons.

Saves $$

TIna good managing.. Did you ever take a week an blow all the rules of savings?
I do it on occasion.LOL

Carol do get your rest.
Sunflowers Even a igloo would not get sun for you in your deep snow.

I ran around mostly today with sis.. She wanted posies for the front of the house.
She is only 80.
So we shopped at home depot an got pre arranged ones.. Now she is elated.

Spent the day there, cause no sun here an only 60º

Apparently when Rod woke up this morning it was 50 (in the house?) So he turned on the furnace, warmed up the house, turned it back off & put an extra cover on me then went to work.

"I complain about him, so thought I should also tell you guys the thoughtful stuff he does for me..."
