Good rainy morning.

My car is beyond repair....I am praying it will last another month at least. It is almost 14 yrs old and the rust has taken over, it will not past an inspection. rolz

Good morning. I am up early this morning.
I drive an 8 year old van. It has been a wonderful workhorse for me. I am not looking forward to when I need a new one. Inspections and insurance are a fact of life here. I need to get an oil change again.
Not much on my plate today. I'll see what damage I can do to my list.

Aftre spending 30 minutes on the phone with "Max" & "Celeste" (from India, I am sure) who work for Target.com, I got transfered to a floor supervisor in the U.S. that took care of my problem. I bought a potty chair for my grandson, it was not right, so I called & they sent out a replacement. Apparently it is not possible for me just to return the one potty to the store.
They will send me a packing slip & I will then try to find a UPS store so I can send the wrong one back.

I think I will not order from Target online again.

after my coffee it is "errand day" here.

I am glad you got the potty chair figured out. It's got to be frustrating on your end.

I told the agent..IF the target site had of just been updated when they stopped making the one type of potty, all of this could have been avoided. why

back from my errands. I got most everything accomplished.

I know, Carol. You expect the product you order. Not substitutions.
I have gotten a little raking done today. In the shade. It is near 90* today.

My friend & I always clean church for the month of May. Last night "Joyce" called me & said that the cleaners for the previous month had not & were not going to clean for the Wednesday night services. So we went & did that. Tomorrow we will go & clean for next Sunday.

I should go to sleep. Sweet Dreams.

Good morning. I am sorry your church job began early. It is a wonderful gift to bring.
I slept poorly last night. I think I'll go back to bed now that the dog is back in.

Good afternoon.

I only have one thing to say...men should not be allowed vacation days unless they have a plan to do something with them besides sitting in the house driving their wives crazy thumbup

I will say that retirement wasn't too bad. He helped more around the house. He got more done outside the house and had time time and energy for some of his projects as well.
People who retire without any plans seem to wither away and die. John didn't want to be that and worked right up until the day he died.

I know you are right, and I felt bad even complaining. I am sure you would put up with anything if you could just have John back.

My dad retired at 58..He worked for Exxon. They were buying out higher/older employees. Daddy was happy to take full retirement from them that early. More time for him to hunt/fish/garden & all the other stuff he loved. My FIL however just sat in a chair. I would like to think Rod will have things to do, but the things he is interested in take good eye site & fast reaction times..so we shall see. perhaps I will be able to get him to travel some & go see Henry a bit more often. I can hope, right ?

He works with wood, right? I remember the chest he made for the girls a couple years ago. Can that be a hobby that he likes. Or something like that? It really helps.
Anyway, anything that keeps them moving and mentally challenged is good. And if you start asking them to vacuum or sweep or something, they'll find something.
lol

Rod hates working with wood..which is odd, he welds (a welder/fabricator) & cuts & measures metals all day every day. One would think that wood would me much simpler to do.

You have a good memory !! Yes, he did make the girls wooden chests a few years back for Christmas. Since I know how much he hates working with wood, I knew he really wanted to do that for the girls. (To me) it made the gifts that much more special.

IF I were to ask him to help me clean or do anything, he would start in telling me to/making me get rid of about 90% of all of my stuff. He (and his youngest DD) are minimalists & LOVE to get rid of most anything they are not using that minute. Never mind if it were MY stuff we were taking about. They certainly do not need anything of mine.

I will not be in until later in the day tomorrow. I am going to my DD's to watch Micah for her. Emily is having a yard sale. I do not think she has ever done this before....It should be cute to watch.

I too am going to bed soon.

Good morning...don't buy too much at the yard sale Junie lol You know you just might.

Tina, I agree...hobbies keep a person going.

My DH just got a lay off from work for 6 months along with most of the others in their division...guess there is no Summer maintenance to be done this year on the roads. touched

The sun is shining and if this keeps up in a week or so I might be down to bare ground. applaud

Good morning. Have fun with Micah today, Carol.
I am so sorry about your husband's layoff, Sunny. I hope he has something to fall back on.
I didn't sleep well. I hope to get this straightened out by the beginning of the week. I do plan on taking Teddy out to shop. Something for his birthday is needed. He turns 21 on Sunday and I am fresh out of ideas.

OH MY !!! Sunny, I am so very sorry to hear of the layoff. I guess I should be happy there is a return to work date. Will he got some compensation while he is off??..That would be ever so helpful I am sure.

At least you will (well, should) have some help with the Granddaughter for a few months...Gotta look at the bright side.

Teddy will turn 21, huh Tina? Wow, how time does fly. A day out looking for a gift might be fun for him. Good luck on finding the right item.

While at the yard sale, I only bought a little vest to give to Valarie for Henry. Tomorrow, though, I will take Luke in a stroller & see what I can find at the other sales in my DD's subdivision. If nothing else. Luke will be out in the sun, and I will get some exercise.

OH!! I did buy a book:
"If You Lived Here You'd Be Home by Now by Ed Briant"
it is a book with No words, & lots of pictures. About what I call a "leaf monster" that only children can see. Luke loves it. His parent hide it, so I bought one for grandma's house.

Good thing is I know they hide it, so when Luke says "he has looked & looked & cannot find it", I just ask his Daddy to see if he can find it for us. I read it to him this morning before he left for school. he was ever so happy.

Junie, why do they hid the book?

Sunny, sorry about the lay off. Hopefully it will be a nice time for the two of you.

Johnny says he'll never retire. He doesn't play golf or hunt so it's a good thing he'll keep working. My step dad retired at 50 and was bored out of his mind even though he has hobbies and money to travel. It's hard for a man to keep busy all the time at that age. Men just are made like women. I'm never bored and always busy. Too busy some of the time.

Mine retired at 52 an was more busy......
No regrets on that.

If a man is bored he can get another part time job or volunteer at church an places.
Or travel.
Mine loved traveling out west.. We did it 9 times an loved it all........By car.

Mount rushmore an Terry redlins art meuseum was a sight to behold.

We did get to see madinsteamrollers in person. Free concert.

Good morning, the sun is shining and my snow is really taking a beating.

Oh I have lots for DH to help with...*I need two new cedar clothesline poles to be cut to start. He has already lined up some part time work as well. His horses keep him busy as well as a lot of the older farmers that need help with things...that is where he is at now, helping with some farrier work.

I have been doing some clean up work outdoors as I can...it is nice to see bare patches of ground here and there.

Good, Sunny. I don't like hearing about snow in May. I hope it is gone for real. I have got my morning done. I had to go out and buy a snake. Now I get to work on my plumbing. Fun, fun, fun.

Good morning. I haven't tackled my plumbing issue yet. I am just glad I have my tubs and washer on a grey water system, though.
Are you going to try to grow hay again this year, Sunny?
