My Oak toilet seat split in half in the front........I had to go out an get another one.
Got in a snow storm on the way home. Now warmed up an is melting.

Couple weeks ago my Oak table top which housed my tv, split in 2 places.. Is this annual split oak year?

Good gracious Barb. I am so sorry. Is your house dry ?? perhaps the oak is drying out too much ?? Can the table be repaired ? Oak tables are lovely and are not cheap to come by.

You make me remember to clean mine off & put liquid gold on it.

OH MY, I am ever so sorry, Barb.
Also, it makes me smile to hear that you have so much Oak. I have cheaper woods stained to look like oak, so it makes me happy to hear of others with actual oak.

I do have a dining room set, an end table & an entertainment center that are oak. Fire place mantel, ALL trim, & my stair railing are fake oak.

That is good shopping, Barb. My dining room set was bought from my uncle who had an antique store. Mine is a medium Oak reproduction claw-foot table with 6 matching chairs. I have no idea how much cheaper the table was, but at the time, I paid $69.00 for each chair & ones much smaller than mine were going for $169.00 each. I was a happy camper.

I got one of my 2 oak end tables at another antique store. They were new but the owner had bought them & did not like them...Lucky for me.

dodge, Johnny is a plumber and he says on the hinges on the oak toilet seats spread out as they age and it causes the seat to split.

????
The hinges were so tight I used dw 40 to remove them.
It split in front right in the middle .. I am assuming it is over 7 years old. Was.
I got another one , it isn't set up the same just screws into the plastic bolt at the bottom.
They eliminated the part that goes on top between the two screws.....

Whatever. Still wonder why the oak table also split?? Must be 30 years old.
I am thinking the odd weather......
