Happy ST. Paddy's Day!

Was up early today.. have a lunch appt. and Joe is going with Joseph to our credit union to see if they can help him buy a vehicle.. a lady who works there we have done most of our business with said she would explain just what he needs and how to go about getting it... have to go pick up our Tahoe sometime this morning too... then have to come home and do something to my house while Joe is with Joseph.. one of my sils is coming over tomorrow evening- she is in town from Az for her job and is not to far away so wants to visit... then Fri our new dishwasher will be installed... and son is coming Sat to see if he can fix our water heater for us.. he has become fairly handy at fixing stuff... if he can it will help save big bucks- evidently it will cost about 1200. to get a new one installed... don't want to spend that if he can do it for 100.

Sunny hope you start feeling better soon.. I know just how long this flu bug can last- still coughing at night- seems like the minute the sun starts going down my congestion comes back and I get to breath or talk but not both... days aren't to bad unless I do to much... so rationing my efforts at doing stuff .. rest a lot between still... but at least the body hurting mostly quit...and I can walk without having to rest every two minutes.. drove myself nuts trying to help hubby do stuff and then having to sit down when I did, I am not a very good sick person...LOl!

Well off to get my breakfast and shower... have a good day all!

Nana

It is hard to be sick and rationing your energy. Get completely well soon, Nana.
Good morning. I slept in. But I don't have any big plans for myself today. My kids are going out today to find something fun to do for Teddy. I am grateful for that.

Ted had a great time today. They went to the Rain Forest Cafe and ate and watched the animated animals. Went to the Disney Store and into Build a Bear. They came home and Teddy crashed out. So I know he had fun.
I hope Carol had fun at her dinner.

Sorry guys...I know I came back in here several times...and I know I posted at least once...I was in just after nana came in. why

Anyway, I did not get to go eat with my MIL. she got her days mixed up they brought her lunch----I was mad but I had to get going so I could get lunch. I fully intend to call the home tomorrow & questions will be asked..

Rod needed some help with some computer stuff, so I got to go see my Grandsons tonight. That was fun..

Glad to hear that teddy had a great time, Tina.

I am now going to bed now too, g'nite everyone.

Good morning.

Tina it sounds like Teddy is going to have a great March break with the others spoiling him so and you get to rest from it all thumbup

Nana, rest up while you can...I am slowly on the mend as well.

Dodge, I did my spring cleaning a few weeks ago but Winter will stay for a bit...we are having another snow storm as I type.

Junie, I hope you get the situation cleared up...and glad you got to see the grands as well.

The way it is snowing out...I think I'll get to stay home today.

I hope you are getting some rest, Carol. I'm sorry you missed out on the special dinner.
Good morning. I am ready for this day. I plan on going out and getting some banking done today as well as some shopping. I haven't been further than my mail box for four days. Teddy will go with me.

Sunny: it is snowing again ?? I am so sorry. The weather lady here said last night we could get some again yet---I do so hope she was talking in possibilities & not actualities.

Barb: I am hoping that this bad weather thing is just something we will have to deal with in the winter. I will say that is has been cold on Easter in the past...BUT I will hope for at very least a sunny day.

Tina: enjoy your time on Break with Teddy. Sometimes doing nothing is the best.

I took my grandson his Easter garden flag & a blue wire bunny last night, & he thought he should get to wake up the next day & go on an Easter egg hunt... lol

I am soon off to take my taxes to the accountant. That would be better if he were not so far away---it is a 60 to 90 minute trip. BUT that is ok I will stop at Wal-Mart & the dollar store afterwards.

I wish everyone a great day.

Water is low, the drought is here to stay for the next few months. I am glad everyone else is getting plenty. We will all feel it in the pocket book though.

And I've done my shopping. And I went to the bank. But we skipped Walmart today. Ted's legs weren't up to it. He'd done enough for this day. So I've got a pork roast in the crock pot for roast tonight and for pulled pork later. Along with potatoes, carrots and parsnips. I've got a cucumber and onion salad to go with. I can hardly wait

Can I come for salad too?

I seen tomato plants selling for $3.49 in Home depot today.
Thank goodness my seeds germinated an are growing well.
I plant about 20 an that would be a big loss to buy

yes, cuke and red onions sliced paper thin and covered in a dressing of choice. I love it. And tomatoes if they are homegrown. But even then, I'd rather have them as a side.
Some 'summer' veges are just coming ripe here. There may not be a long season due to the drought. I am going to enjoy what I can while they are still affordable. Produced only in California: almonds, artichokes, dates, figs, raisins, kiwifruit, olives, clingstone peaches, pistachios, dried plums, pomegranates, sweet rice, and walnuts. Other things that we produce the most of for the nation to eat include broccoli, avocados, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries and several other things.
Think about all you might have to do without or pay much more for. It is time to grow your own.

Tina, enjoy your feast while I famine. lol

Honestly it is sad though, we have to depend on Southern states for a lot of our produce. Right now I am paying .75 cents for one orange, $5 for a head of lettuce and it is $6 for a very small dish of fresh strawberries.

Oh my---While I would probably pay the $.75 for an orange, I do not think I would pay that much for the other stuff. You have my sympathies. Although I will say things are sometimes not cheap here either.

Today is gathering our clothes for a small weekend visit with Valarie. I am SO looking forward to that.

Good morning. I hope it gets better, Sunny. But I am very afraid it won't. I invested in seeds this year, lots of them. What I cannot grow this year, I can sprout next year for nutrition. My freezers are jam packed.
I live where you can grow all year long if you have water. And so far, I do. But I am very afraid for those who don't. I don't want to sound like a dooms day prophet. But I see things getting worse before they get better. And then throw in all of the genetically modified things into the mix. It is not a good thing.

Good Morning, Tina.

I think you are right about things getting better before they get worse. I know I said I wanted to make my garden bigger, but the ground is so low, I will need to be buying much dirt to make that happen. I may do that anyway.

My freezer is full too, I need to empty it out so I can restock for next winter as I do not can more than jelly or jam. I freeze what I want to keep for winter.

Grow in containers? I have buckets to grow some things in out of reach of the critters.
Today my kids are going to Bass Pro shop. It will be fun for Teddy to see the fish and the stuffed wildlife. ( and ride in the elevator). And my older son will shop for something he wants for his upcoming birthday. Its a win for me because I don't have to do the shopping.
There are only two Bass Pros in California and I am lucky that one is only about 20 minutes away. I haven'y been in it for a couple of years. Ted will have a blast.

Yes I do grow in containers, Tina. I usually grow my Cherry tomatoes & some of my herbs in containers. I have been thinking of trying the potatoes in them this year as well. Then my SIL bought me two decorative containers that I plants herbs & such in. This year I am going to plant carrots in them, along with my Basil.

That is nice that your kids are doing so much with/for Teddy. That makes me smile.

We have 2 Bass Pro within driving distance for us. One is just over an hour away but is not as big as some.(only 1 floor) BUT the one in Springfield, MO is huge & has 2 floors & a very big fish take & many stuffed animals. That one is really a weekend trip as we usually stay over night when we go there, but it is well worth the time. I am sure Ted will love it.

There are also a Gander Mountain an hour north of us & a Cabala's an hour west of us that we go to a lot. Soon there will be another Cabala's a bit closer to the south of us. Rod will be ever so Happy.

I love it when the kids pick up their own gifts. I think that way you know they are getting just what they want.

I always plant onions & try to plant lettuce & spinach if I can find a dry place early enough. Radishes too are planted. Cucumbers will go in as a plant. In May.

That sounds like a good mix, Carol.
Ted had a good time with his sisters today. My older son found a shirt and a hat he liked for his birthday coming up. So I had a good day without ever leaving the house.

Good morning. Happy spring to those who really have it flwr

This year I think I will expand my garden as well...with more freezer friendly items. I am also going to try buy organic seed. All that GMO produce scares me as well Tina.

I am glad Teddy is having fun and you get to rest through it all.

Junie, you need to get DH to build you some raised boxes. The ones where you don't have to bend to garden.

Barb, do you still put in a variety of items in your garden?
