The first set grow tall and straight and have a branch habit of radial random - bark is a real nice color. The leaves are short and bluish in color. Makes me think it's something like a blue spruce but it might be greener than that.

The second pic are probably something like Eastern White Pine - I make a medicinal tea out of the long pine needles - doesn't taste good but it probably has a lot of Vitamin A and C, and it seems to make my root canal issue heal up some. One must be careful as a small number of pine needles are toxic - like Ponderosa and some dwarf species - I forget.

Anyway, just curious - they are two different species of pine tree that grow in my neighborhood - just not sure what they are.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you.

Ok, Junie Girl gave me a link some years back to arborday - I'll also look at that site. I tried arborday.org but I cannot answer their questions about the trees. Perhaps I'll keep trying but the questions asked are very difficult.

I am sorry. They look like pretty trees to me. But I have never gotten any good at discerning evergreen types. Maybe someone can come along and help you.

The first looks like a blue spruce that doesn't have enough acidity to keep the true blue throughout...only on the tips of new growth. The second pic can be figured out by counting the needles per stem, Eastern pine have groups of five. A Pitch pine has groups of 3 and the others are in groups of two.

Ok, I'll go out and count the long needles.

The other tree has a really nice tree trunk and like you say, it's mostly green, but it sometimes looks bluish so perhaps the new growth I'll check when the spring comes. The trunk is attractive in color - sort of an orange-brown that goes with my staircase nicely - I left the railing of the stairs unplaned to match the color, otherwise it would be the color of brazilian walnut which is orange-brown. haha
