franny,

i'd have to ask what you meant by shrimp compost? if it is just the shells/heads from your eating shrimp, if you can bury it deep enough to keep critters out, then yes, we used to do that at home when i was a kid, living on the bayou. not with roses, but with fruit trees. but, if you are talking about a commercial product, i really don't know rose specific, although most compost would be good for most plants.

it would be fine. can't hurt, just make sure the nitrogen isn't too hight compared to the rest of the numbers.

the 1st # is your nitrogen.I think the shrimp waste would be close to the same as fish emolsion.Fish kelp is actually better, cause it has more trace minerals& is useually cold compressed/cured(what have you) I've added shrimp by product& crawfish byproduct to compost pile...along with bass /crappie/blue gill.I even recently sifted not one but TWO stringers from compost pile.....(neither was mine....but I KNEW who owned the green stringer)and a golf ball(go figure)
