Well, we got off to a late start. Planting season was delayed by about 2 weeks because of the cool weather. We started off with some moisture and I was also watering. The last few weeks have been so dry that my yellow beans were wilting. My new potatos weren't so new, I usually scrape the new skin off, but with mine, it was a real effort this year, not to mention they were too small to peel. The lettuce did wonderfully, the tomatoes, well, I lost 3 plants. We'll have some to eat, there won't be much or any left over for canning. Now it's been raining again for the last 3 days, so I will concentrate on my carrots and beets. I feel bad, I let my yard and garden get out of hand this year. All I want to do this year is to wrap it up, and start all over next spring. Forgot to mention that my peppers are getting nice and big, and so far, so good.

It seems like gardens either do extremely well or very poorly. You kind of get lucky getting a middle of the road year. But we keep on trying. Great on the peppers. That is one thing I have never done well with.

yes--I too do not even grow peppers any longer. Mine want to begin to do well around frost time...but yes all in all your garden could be considered a success.

Yup, it's a hit or miss. My garden this year has done beautifully...it has been the best year ever for peppers and tomatoes.

We've had a good year garden wise too. The weather has been so strange that the garden got confused and forgot to wilt. :)

I did not get much planted, what with all the rain & my yard being low--My tomatoes are just now ripening.

I've taken everything up. I'm sick of dealing with it for the little bit it's putting out. I might plant spinach in the raised beds. Not sure if I want to mess with it right now.

But you ate pretty well this summer, Sheri. And you have preserved part of your harvest? You will bless yourself this winter.

That's true Tina. Friday I made a blueberry cobbler with berries I froze. Good.

My 2014 garden was very diffrent this year. Do to the cold I lost most of my tomatoe plants and pepper plants and the ones that made it did terrible. I did have a very nice potatoe crop, sweet corn and a great string bean crop ever! oh I forgot to mention... my kale forest is doing great too :)

I'm wondering if I want to invest in a pressure canner. It will be nice to have if I ever decide to use it but I'm not sure that I every will. I keep telling myself it's cheaper to buy at the Farmer's Market than to grow so I'm thinking about only growing tomatoes and cucumbers next year. Johnny says I say that every year though.

I think my mom uses a regular Pressure cooker for canning. Have you checked up on that option ??

personally I just freeze my tomatoes in 15 oz. sized containers.

what all do you plan on canning ???
