Some of you might remember that I had knit a bowl while we were in the old forums. I don't think I ever posted the final picture of it, after I had felted it - can't remember. Last night I finished knitting another one, and will hopefully felt it in the washer tomorrow.

Here is the first one, both before and after:

It does shrink quite a bit in the wash, as it's 100% wool.

Very nice, Lynne. How do you 'felt' it?
I crocheted holders for all sizes of my oblong pyrex pans years ago. I used jute. They were great for toting hot dishes to potlucks.

Thanks, Tina!

To felt it, you put it in a lingerie bag, and put it in the washing machine with a tiny bit of soap and a pair of jeans, or something like that for agitation. You only let it go through the first spin cycle and then check to see how much it has shrunk, or felted - where you cannot see the individual stitches anymore, and it looks more like a solid piece of material. Then take it out, and let it air dry over the shape you would like it to hold - I used a glass mixing bowl for the first one. This one will probably be smaller, as the yarn I used was not as thick, so I'll need to find another bowl to dry it over.

Stay tuned...
