Good morning...it is still a wet day out there.

I am laughing at Tina's response about children. I have been looking after children since I was 12...used to do it full time when I had a home day care as well. I guess you just forget how tired you were for sure lol

I am glad you are enjoying the retirement time Nana...happy travels.

Does anyone want some mosquitoes? I have lots to share. haha

Good morning. I do not want mosquitoes, Thank you, Sunny. We do have our own but not nearly like a lot of other places get them. We don't have much standing water in our warm weather. I am sorry you are plagued with them.

No don't need additional mosquitos here.. lots of standing water with all the rain we are having.. they said they test positive for West Nile too.. really don't need that...

It's a lazy day for us here today.. even the dogs are sleeping.. bored without their boys to run around with I guess.. Carrie sent pics of the boys fishing, they are having a good time... so glad for them... they need some down time as a family...

Well I am going to go clean out the fridge, and run the dishwasher... that will be my major accomplishment for the day It hink... dinner will be something easy I think... no ambition today at all....

Does Ted start school August 4th?

I can't believe next week is July 4th. Time just flies by.

Not sure what whirlwind Colt and I will do today. He'll figure it out as we go but I think we're staying home.

Afternoon all,

Well kids are coming back from camping trip a day early- Nicoli woke up with an attack and she wants to be closer to hospital in case he needs it... at least they got to have a couple days of fun ... but I feel so sorry for him...

It looked like we were going to get some more rain for a while but it's clearing up now- craziest weather we are having... still breezy though which is nice , no cooler on right now... love not paying the elec company any extra to be comfortable...

Well laundry just finished another load so got to get another started... maybe we will take a trip somewhere tomorrow .. need some r&r time..

Have a good day all!

Nana

So sorry to hear this for Nicoli.

I feel I must mention. I know they have found the little guys problem, but could it be a few issues that are on top of each other ?? When my Niece was small..she would "get sick" with almost every vacation, holiday, etc. She would actually be ill, fever and all. An allergist finally found what was setting it off & allergy shots helped her...Just an idea...Poor guy

My Granson Luke just left---(his Mom & Dad too)---They were going to stay for supper but they decided last minute to go home. badday Rod will be so upset...

Hi Carol,

Yes the CVS and abdominal migraines have different triggers... his we have found so far are pineapple, chocolate, heat, excitement, there maybe more and probably are but for now those are the ones that are definite, no one seems to know why kids and adults get this but sometimes they outgrow it and sometimes they don't, may be related to his being a premmie but that's not for sure either.. very few docs know what it is or how to treat it... so far it's taken a team of them to get us this far with him... that's what makes it so hard... he was resting today when we took the dogs home... and he ate some so hopfully it won't be a long attack for him... Carrie was just afraid to be so far from his hospital in case he got worse.. his neuro doc left orders at our Childrens Hospital with a protocol just for him for them to follow... and they are good about doing it... just hope that isn't required this time..

Sorry your kids had to leave before supper time... I know Joe gets upset when he hasn't seen the boys for a while... not that happens to often with them 2 blocks away!

Well better go and finish up dinner and dishes... going to go to bed early tonit and see if I can get up early tomorrow and clean up the house..and maybe finish up early and go do something fun in the afternoon.

Nana

Thanks for explaining--again, Nana. Poor little guy.
And in your DD shoes, I would not want to be far from the hospital either. I hope that he feels better very soon.

Rod was disappointed. he said..well perhaps they will come back..I could just shake that Daughter of mine.

Rod is going out to spend some time at my father's property in the morning...but he is taking me to a Flea Market that we like to go to in a river town a bit from here in the afternoon. I am really looking forward to it.

Good morning. I was up much earlier but decided to go back to bed, simply because I could. I do think I will do not much of anything today. Right now a day of rest sounds good. I may change my mind after my coffee kicks in.

Nicoli is fine today- he managed to sleep last night... slept till 5 am and woke up feeling good... he is a little tried but okay right now... I sure wish he outgrows it soon too...

I want to go to the flea market too! maybe we will go to ours tomorrow.. it's a ways from here but sounds like fun as long as we go before it gets to hot... who knows may find something we can't live without... been yrs since we went.....

Well off to vacuum and dust and then come down to family room and do it all over again...

I feel sorry for Nicoli too. It's sad he has to go through this.

Colt is going home this afternoon. We're gonna be lonely. I know car seats save lives but buckling and unbuckling is such a chore.

Tina, Colby and Aubry are in year round school so they start back July 29th. Sort of wish they were on a traditional calendar.

I hated buckling and unbuckling car seats. And they do not make them to fit long, lanky kids that are under the California weight limit. I feel it is dangerous for those kids and the circulation in their legs.
Jonni and Ted were in year round school all through elementary and, for Jonni, through middle school. They were on C track which is off in Dec, April and Aug. John taught traditional high school and was off mid June through early Sept. He also had winter break in Dec with the kids and usually a week of spring break. It worked for us.
Ted is on a traditional schedule now with the extra month of summer session. The summer session is only offered for spec ed.
The traditional school year here has changed. When I was a kid we went to school from mid-September through mid-June. About a week and a half off for Christmas break and a week off for spring break. Now the kids are off for at least the week of Thanksgiving , a couple weeks plus for Christmas and 2 weeks for spring break. Those extra weeks were tacked onto the beginning and end of the year so there is only 2 months of summer break. But it is the same number of days I went to school each year pretty much.

I didn't know there were different schedules for school such as that. Here it is the first of September until the end of June.

Well, my shed is finally all shingled. DH is putting up some trim around the top edges for me as I type. Also got the back step stained today...I'm on a roll. lol

I hear you all on the car seat issue...they are a necessity but a pain at the same time.

Tamara, the year round school year was set up here for school overcrowding mostly. With schools on four tracks with different months off track, the fourth track could move to empty classrooms each new month. More kids crammed into a single school. Jonni only had one year of being in a track that moved to a new classroom each month and that was in middle school.

Thanks for explaining Tina...no over crowding here. 3 local schools have closed in the past years due to low attendance. We went from 4 schools to 1. Fewer children are being born these days.

It has been in the 90's here all week...I wish I had an air conditioner.

Good morning. I wish air conditioning for you too, Tamara.
I have one window unit in the box. And if it gets very humid, I often think about pulling it out. But most of the summer my evap coolers are enough and so much cheaper to run.
This whole week will be in the mid 90's. It will be unusual for any daytime temps to drop below 90* for the next 2-3 months.

Good Morning.

Tina, you are so very lucky to have the type of weather that lets you get by w/o an air conditioner...I do not think I would ever come out of my basement if we di dnot have a/c in our house.

Tamara..if you were closer, I could give you a Air Conditioning unit. We have a 110 unit (it can be plugged into any regular outlet & does not need special wiring to be used) in the basement that we bought for my DD bedroom when we lived at the farm.
The girls bedrooms were upstairs & unbearable in the summer for sleeping...Rod has wanted to get rid of it for years, & I will not let him, as one just never knows what is going to happen.

WE are supposed to have some cooler temps for the next few days....supposedly in the mid 80's. WE can only hope...

Yes, that is why I won't get rid of my small a/c. It is just in case.....
I have done very little this morning. I did feed us breakfast and my kitchen is cleaned up from that. I need to go mop that kitchen floor. Someone spilled something sticky in there in the middle of the night. I am getting some leg exercise every time I walk through just peeling my feet off the floor for the next step.
And that reminds me of an ancient smile. In the 80's and before, I always mopped when my kids were at school or in the middle of the night. I didn't want the pitter-patter of feet dirtying up my floors. I always had my 3 kids and a couple of fosters. Scroll forward a few years and my oldest daughter was 16. She called me at work and said she wanted to mop the kitchen floor. I was pleased and told her so. Then she asked me how....
I wasn't teaching my kids much by not allowing them to see. But it was funny and she knows how now. It always makes me smile.

I am sorry she is so uncomfortable. It is miserable to be pregnant in the summer. I know because all of my girls are summer babies. My boys were both spring.
When is the baby due? And do we know a sex yet?

The baby is due October 6th. So, she is 6 months along...
She is constantly nausiated, cannot eat her favorite proteins, which replace beef and some pork in her diet. She is always tired & she keeps looking at Luke who is a very normal, healthy Boy--& as such he never stops "going". I can just see her thinking "how am I going to keep after 2 of him?" And she loves this boy to pieces, which is why she is having the second child. I must remind you that this is a girl who was "never" having children.
She is blessed to have such an understanding, helpful husband.

I hope her stomach settles in soon, Carol. Most of us become as strong as we need to be. I will pray that she does this too.

That is so true Tina, my God-Daughter has the same problem....she lost so much weight at the first of her pregnancies that they had to put her on a special medication to keep her food down.

Next year my bucket list includes an air conditioning unit...hopefully the stand up kind that can be moved room to room. It only took 5 yrs of planning to get my garden shed....hopefully the air conditioner comes sooner lol

In the high 90's again today...this heat is wearing me out.

Bless you ladies, for your kind words. If she would just feel better I think everything else would fall into line. I am so worried that she will not feel better until this child is born, as happened with her sister.....Come on October...

Sunny----you need to come along & make a budget for me...I must compliment you on your ability to save for the things you want.

I had errands to run today---but I heard on the news we were going to have very bad heat in the triple digets and storms so perhaps I will not.

You ladies keep safe in your heat and storms.
Good morning. This is my second time up. This time I made coffee. I will be hiding from the heat today.

Morning all,

Yes stay out of the heat , we ran to Home Depot yesterday to gets some flowers for a couple pots and it was enough to make me feel crappy the rest of the day... was 97 ... today is cooler thank goodness...

We will get boys later on today- Carrie says they are finally sleeping at night again so days will be easier...
I was pregnant twice all summer in Yuma Az ..in triple digit heat every day, was not fun and with the last one I had the nausea all the time- till the day she was born.... don't know if she has tried it but ginger tea worked wonders for me and you can make it iced too.. and there is ginger candy too... helps with keeping food in ..

Well off to get my morning stuff done.. going to try and get Nicoli's blanket done- hurt my index finger on my right hand and it made it hard to do most anything, but will try today- will be to hot to go outside soon so inside stuff for me today... will see if it lets me use scissors , think when the lid to my washer came down on my hand it did something to the knuckle on that finger, been swollen ever since...if I could just not use it it would heal faster but hard to do that when stuff had to be done and I am right handed ...LOL!

Have a good day all!

Nana

I will tell Emily about the ginger tea & candy, Nana...thanks so much for the advice.

Well I got a few of my flowers planted. Tomorrow night I will plant my succulents together and put out my mini-leaved coleus tomorow night--then I will be done with flowers for this year, I think---well almost done.

Sweet dreams all. I am not doing much with the heat. A lot of watering. I do things around the house in short bursts. Then rest.

That is how I work in this heat, Tina.
Tonight even I went out, weeded around my Air Conditioning for about 30 minutes, came in & then 30 minutes later I went back out to finish my planting/watering, etc...
At 8 pm it was still WAY hot outside--I just cannot take the heat these days.
When I was a sweet young thing I would go out of the evening & spend 2 hours watering trees & my garden just about every other night, and I thought nothing of it at all...but that was then & this is now....

G'nite everyone...Sweet Dreams.

and remember---Tomorrow is Tuesday... party shewinks
