Outside, I have ramps up and down to most of the doors. It was to help a couple of our disabled friends be able to visit. And it also helped with moving firewood in via wheelbarrow. So that is a help to him. I have gates on both sides of my long front porch. It was to allow my toddlers to play out without wandering off. Butt learned to leap those easily. But I am not sure if he would be too willing any more. I keep them opened most of the time now.
I am just giving him lots of love and all of the special foods I can right now. He is still happy.

To me, you have just hit the nail on the head. He is still happy. If they are hapopy & not in pain then we do what needs to be done. thumbup
We just took care of Dante, fed him well & cleaned up after him because he was happy. BUT:
While I was down with my DD for that week he sorta gave up. Rod was hopeful that he would perk back up when I came home, & while he improved some, he never really did get back to where he was.
and as I have said, we had to help him stand up most times & daily baths were normal occurances.

gates are a good thing. They can be used for puppies as well as small children...

Good morning. Up too early and will try to capture another hour of sleep before I am up for good.
I am watching the news about Colorado tornadoes and wondering how Nana is. Hoping she checks in soon.

Good morning all.

My snow is officially gone...now if it could stop raining I could get some yard work done.

I am so sorry to hear about your dogs. It must be so hard to watch them fail.

I have been up for 30 minutes as well--far to early to my notion...

Clearly, I need to go get a cup of coffee & turn on the TV. Thanks ladies.

I hope that Nana checks in soon as well.

So good to hear that you got a bit more sleep, Tina. clap

I have made new hummingbird nectar & am waiting for it to cool, mopped the kitchen floor in areas & drank some coffee. Soon I will go run some errands for my MIL. It is a nice morning.

I got a cranky Ted to school and stopped to shop again. Came home and put it all away Then got on the phone to order my propane tank topped up. I only do that a couple times a year. I peeled and sliced kiwis and strawberries for snacking and dinner sides. We are really getting into fruit again around here. It is hard to walk by at the farmer's market without picking up some here and some there.

I love farmer's markets.

We have one in Saturday mornings in the next town north of me. I "try" to remember to go while they are open...BUT to the next town, south of me, there is a stand that opends right before Memorial Day & stays open until just after Labor Day--THAT one I frequent a LOT !!

Home now--I think it is nap time....

We have a Farmer's Market in town here on Saturdays as well...I have never been there. I must make a trip this year.

Hoping everyone has a good weekend planned.

Awesome, Carol! You will have a good time.
Good morning. I have been up awhile. Just now getting on the computer to check out the status of the world. And of my friends. The heavy rains passed us by and created havoc just to our north. I would have welcomed the wet but not the damage so much.
I have been sorting some of the extra foods that I have, to find homes for it elsewhere. I am picking up my older son to weekend here and help with some of the heavy work. I will drop off the boxes of food with his friend who will distribute it to the hungry people that are always hanging around his place.
I have moved to mostly organic, non GMO and fresh foods here. I still have a neighbor who brings a box of food to me every month. I told him I share it but he continues. So I will continue to share the wealth.

Good afternoon all, the wet weather has chased me in.

I have daffodils blooming though, so spring must have surely arrived.

It's nice of you to share the wealth Tina, I am sure there are plenty of people grateful for whatever they may get.

A family BBQ sounds great Junie.

I watched the weather forecasts for today. No rain in sight. And then early this evening thunder and lightning and pouring rain. The electricity went off and when it came back on I checked the doppler on my computer. One lone cloud in all of SoCal and it was hanging over my area. It only lasted a half hour or so. But we got a good soaking. Fun stuff.
Maybe this is the weekend that Nana was going to Az and that is why we haven't heard from her?

That can be a nice score, Cindy.
I have always handed out food when I could. My older son was pretty disgusted with that when I was taking it to the community center. He kept saying that people were getting it and selling it off for drugs or booze. I kept on saying that if it helps one hungry family or even a single child, I am happy. The community center no longer has a good storage or way to hand out food. So I began helping a friend who became guardian to her 3 grandchildren. They are on better footing now and that 2 hour drive to deliver was a bear.
So I have been looking for other places to give it away. Earlier this month the USPS was picking up canned goods on a Saturday and I left them a couple bags to take. But I have more; much, much, more.

Yes it is this weekend Nana is in Az.. it's a long drive and then we visited with the relatives... this is first time I turned on my computer ... so checking in- Nana is fine and enjoying the sunny Az weather... I should be asleep but I am wired I guess... we will go visit my MIL tomorrow and hope she knows us... sil says sometimes she knows people and other times she doesn't so hope it will be a good day- one of my BIL'w is coming up from Yuma- and my neice and her hubby are here too so it's a mini reunion too... we are all staying in same hotel so that is nice too... us girls can all go swimming or shopping when the guys go play golf on Sun,

We had rain most of way here .. and there were tornados in Denver the two days before we left- so wasn't on line a whole lot... had boys and they are terrified on wind so we were doing a lot of distracting ... we just got wind and rain at our house so that was nice for our area.. some places got floods again so that was not so good...

Well I am going to try to go to sleep now and see if I can get some rest... will be back as I can.... will leave the coffee ready to brew for you all... and will leave and order for breakfast to be made too..... nite all!

Nana

Glad Nana is fine.
One thing I have never understood. Memorial day is to honor the dead, RIght?

I never understood why people party on that day? I thought it would be more appropriate if they did some honor for the dead? Confused at that indeed.

I know most have the day off work. I say take the kids to the cemetery an teach them how to look at our fallen heros.

Good Morning.

Nana--so glad to hear that you are ok--I hope that you enjoy your weekend.

Cindy--nice to see you--so glad that your neighbor thought of you. So glad that you can take advantage of her offer and so glad that she thought to ask you.

Tina, I have said it before--you are a good person. I am s ure that very many peoiple are so happy of your generosity.

Barb---This is how I look at this weekend. When I was a child we spent every Memorial Day at the cemetary, where there were services. We were taught to understood what the day was about. We paid our respects and then we all went home & had a BBQ with friends or family--depending on who was available. I think the get-togethers began bacause as you say people were off of work--and then to my notion since they were all together at the cemetary & needed to eat, the idea of say a BBQ was hatched. For us anyway it was not disrespect---just how things worked out.
My dad and all of his brothers, (10 in total) and all of my Mom' brothers were in the military. Like I said we were brought up knowing what this holiday meant.
So, for many people to do one (party) does not show disrespect for the other (Our fallen service members).

Now a days, WE (my family) go to the cemetary on Monday for the services--or we go to the park in town where they have services. My SIL (my youongest DD's DH) who was in the Navy full time, is now a reservist, and is a VFW member participates in the services. So, as he is committed pretty much all day on Monday, we all get together on Sunday to be together.

I have much to go today--so I think I will head back to bed for a while. TTYAL. wavy

Good morning. I was up late for me but still up early. I will be napping today.
I honor the people who have died for my country every day of the year. I mourn the passing of all of the young lives lost to us all. But at any death, military or other, I prefer to celebrate the lives they lived and and the love they shared. Ted and I went to the national cemetery where my husband was buried and my grandfather and a variety of other family members, earlier this month. We go a few times a year and pay respects to many whom we did not ever know. And Teddy likes to feed the ducks and geese in the lake there. I do not go on national holidays because we don't care for crowds. I feel that any time friends and family can get together is a celebration for which our fallen died.
That being said, I don't have a party or BBQ or anything on Memorial Day, either. It will be a quiet weekend here.

I am sending you a dry day or two, Sunny. They may just take a few days to get there.
I decided to wash our bedding today. It is cool today and to be much warmer tomorrow. Today is a better day to run the dryer.

I am working hard on sending you at least 2 days in a row of warm sunshine, Sunny.
I would like some deviled eggs, Carol. I need to go out and buy some eggs first. And I do not want to go out. I will need to go out and shop soon because we are low on bread. Maybe then, I'll get eggs too.
I am still figuring out what I want to do with this day that I have been blessed with.

had a nice day---Luke ran around outside again & again saying "I'm having fun" He is so sweet, he didn't want to go when the time came.

Left my deviled eggs in the fridge at meal time---oops---but the good news is someone saw them & after dessert they all had a few...I guess now we have left overs...

Leftovers are always good, Carol. I am glad Luke had fun and the weather was good for running.

Thanks Tina---it was rainy the first part of the day..but after we ate it was nice--we were only out from like 2:30 to 3:30, so Luke could play. But he still had fun so that is the main thing.

When they left we went to the cemetary. It seems both our family's are in the same place. Aftre we placed new flowers & paid our respects, we came home & just rested.

Tomorrow will be a quiet day I think---Not sure we will go to any services this year. Although it is our church's turn to provide the clergy for the town's services...so we shall see... why

I am off to bed now--g'nite & sweet dreams to all.

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much. Benn working a lot. I found out a week ago that my brother and his girlfriend are moving to Utah. Was supposed to be the end of August. Then I find out on Friday it's now the beginning of July. I'm angry and hurt that my brother agreed to move early, knowing it didn't give me much time to save to move. I now have just over a month to find a place and there's no way I can come up with more than first months rent on a room. Needless to say, I'm just a but stressed. Hope everyone is doing well and I'll pop in when I can.
