I just took a picture of my purple waves to send to my sister, and it looks like the plants may have a little problem with whitish things on the stem. I had just watered them so it could be a reflection on the camera , hope so, but if not, what could little whitish things be? I don't want to lose my plants. What do you guys think? [Linked Image]

I was hoping the picture would come in larger, but the white little things are on the stems.

I see one fuzzy looking stem but I don't think that's a problem.

Thanks, I did spray the stem in particular, but it just may be that when I was transplanting the vermiculite or whatever the white things are called ended up stuck on the stem. I never really checked since. I put them all in a cardboard box and I'm taking them outside and hardening them off each day, because they were getting too splindly and tall inside. Don't know what to do. They are all growing extremely fast this year and it will be another 3 weeks or so before the ground is warm enough to plant them? They have really bolted up since the picture above.

could yoiu thin them out as I suggested ? That would give the remaining plants more room. You could put the ones you removed in a new pot, spaced nicely & if they live, so much the better, right ???

Can't see them very well, but they look large enough to be either scale or mealy bugs. Both are difficult to get rid of.
