I do wish the northern Cali rains would swing south tomorrow. But it is looking like it will not be.

Welcome Annie... we got a little rain last night ... enough to wet the yard but was sunny and nice again today... heard as I was passing the weather man said snow in our 7 day forcast... sure hope he meant the mtns not us... I am so ready for winter to be over..

We are eating leftovers tonight.. need to empty the fridge... think I will make a trifle out of the leftover layer cake.. banana pudding- bananas and strawberries... that may just be my dinner...LOL! Kids ate all the bunny cake yesterday- even JR took some and he doesn't eat just anything- surprised his Mom- saw the other kids liking it and decided it looked good... he ate some carrots and ranch too cause he saw the boys eating it-

Well off to warm up leftovers and make my trifle.... and sweep the kitchen floor- forgot to do that earlier....

Nana

Good morning. We have a shot at some rain coming up this weekend. Rain in April here is fairly rare so any at all is a bonus.
Happy Tuesday. I am up before my alarm again. I would prefer an 8 hour bladder, thank you.

I hope you are at ceramics today, Carol. Sharing your baby joy with your friends.
I took Ted to school then stopped to shop. I only needed a few things but got more than I really needed. I must be into potato mode. I bought 3 different kinds. But potatoes never go to waste here. I've restocked my vegetable bins with seasonal stuff too. It all looked so good. It must be spring!

Good morning. Welcome, Annie! I got offered two jobs today. Decided which one I'm going to take. Need to get ready to head over there to fill out my back round check. This will help my financial situation immensely. Need to pick up a prescription today too. I forgot about it and I'm almost out. Gotta take my meds. I'd also like an 8 hour bladder. Woke up three times last night. Well, better go get ready. Talk to you all later!

Congrats on the job offers Cheryl.

Tina, doesn't it always seem like a quick stop at the store empties your wallet lol

It's so grey and gloomy out today...

NO no more snow Sunny... had plenty already... thought they said that word on the last weather report for this weekend...

Congrats on the new job Cheryl... we knew it would work out for you... I am glad you mentioned a pharmacy run too- I just remembered I needed to call mine in too- would be nice if they all ran out at same time...

We ran to the Depot this morning and picked up new garbage disposer.. don't use it very often but it's handy when I need it and old one was leaking.. now if Joe's allergy meds would work he could fix it...

Well off to finish up laundry and see what else I can find to do...

Well so far I packed up Ted and his lunch and took him to school. I came home and counted my cheap solar path lights to see how many I had. Almost every time I walk into Walmart, I grab a couple of 97 cent ones and tuck them away. If we have a power outage, they put out more light than a candle and are much, much safer. They will recharge during the day and put out almost all night long. I have 75 tucked away to be used in case of such an emergency. I figure if we are lit up like Christmas here, neighbors will be knocking. I also have other lighting stuff tucked away and the batteries or fuel that they need. I like light. Getting those inventoried and repackaged is a part of my spring cleaning. Sometimes it is the best way to get the dust off of everything. Moving the dust out a little or a lot at a time. But Mother Nature is winning that fight.
Now to fix some breakfast. I'm thinking burritos for dinner tonight. With lots of veggies on the side. It is veggie season.

What a smart idea Tina, I never thought about using solar lights for backup. I must pick up a few.

The rain is supposed to change to freezing rain through the night and snow for tomorrow. Mother Nature can be so cruel at times.

Got my grocery shopping done and bills paid. Fruit is at ridiculous prices here, yikes.

Fruit grows local here and it is ridiculous as well. I am so sorry about your snow, Sunny.
I have some solar lights out in my yard that I don't count as backup interior lighting. They are sold with a little tab protecting the battery from being squandered. I leave those tabs in until I need to use one or more of the lights. Then pop that tab and it is ready to rumble. Or at least safely light my windowless bathroom.
I have Ted home. I will be napping here in a bit.

First and foremost, I would like to thank you ALL for your welcomes (really brought a smile to my day). I relate a lot to all of your posts, aside from having a grand baby (my oldest of 4 is now 6 and I hope I have at least 15 more years until I am blessed with a grand baby). I don't know if you all do Facebook, but as a stay at home mom I love being on to see what everyone is up to. Since I have found this website I am happier than ever. I love reading through and getting to know everyone through their posts. I love the drama free and helpful tendencies of this site.
Today I ran the weed eater again.. for a half hour (tank of gas)... I got a lot accomplished, it turned my husband's head as he drove up the drive way. We did not get a lot of rain but apparently it helped quite a bit to fill our lakes that needed it during this drought.

Sunflowers, what is freezing rain? I have heard a lot of my eastern state bound friends mention this and some of those that were born and raised in California mention it. If it different from hail? Very curious about weather differences as well...

I am spring cleaning my house slowly- did my kitchen , some of it anyway...going slowly in my old age and aching bones... but it will get done eventually... I won't have boys till late afternoon tomorrow so will get more done I hope..

Well off to go to bed early tonit- want and early start tomorrow... rest of kitchen to do and living room to start on.... for some reason the spring cleaning fairy isn't showing up here ....

http://www.weatherdudes.com/facts_display.php?fact_id=24

I am happy that you found us. Again, welcome.

WE all try to help one another around here.
I figure together we are stronger than we would be if each of us were alone.

Wait !! Nana: There is a "spring Cleaning Fairy" ?? why has no one told me of this fact before ???
I want her to come here to MY house, & come here NOW ! teach lol

I am going to sleep soon, G' nite everyone--sweet dreams

Sweet dreams, Ladies. I have another half hour until I can expect to go to bed.
Annie. I am a widowed mother of 5. I had 3 in my 20's and the last two in my 40's. My youngest will be 20 in another week and a half. But Ted has down syndrome and is pretty much stuck around kindergarten mentally. It will feel odd to not have any teenagers left. My oldest is 41. I am 63.

Ok My Turn Annie:
I am a married 61 year old lady. (I will be 62 this June.)
I guess you can say I am a housewife---no outisde job that I get paid at, although I am plenty busy person.

I recently had my 35th wedding anniversary.
My Husband & I have 2 Married daughters. Oldest just turned 34 & the youngest just turned 28.

Oldest Daughter lives 3 hours away from us & just last Sunday had her first child.
Youngest Daughter, lives 40 minutes away, and has a 19 month old son, She & her Husband are going to have a second child in the fall.

I used to have a nice sized garden & raised enough potatoes & such to last me until january. I do not trust me in canning but I did make jellies & freeze lot of food. Now, with just the 2 of us here, I have a much smaller veggie garden, & mainly have flower beds. Sadly, I have yet to get blackberries to grow here so we could have homemade jelly

again, Good night wavy

Freezing rain is a cold rain that instantly turns to ice when it touches anything. We were unlucky enough to have some through the night, followed by ice pellets...and now it's snowing. I still have about 5 ft of snow everywhere in the yard and banks close to 8 ft on the edges.

It's a messy day, so glad that DD'd friend dropped off grandbaby to me last night on her way home from a visit to DD's.

Annie, I had Facebook but shut it down...

G'morning. Coffee drinking here.

well I got a good night's sleep. yay..Now I have many things to go. Will someone tell me how I can do things and have them stay "done" for more than 1 day ???

To this day I have NO idea how my MIL did that, I have tried & the only way it works for me is if I do it all last minute.

She probably did it by threatening her family with mayhem if it became undone.
I have a very large mulberry tree in full fruit outside. I have all types of birds hanging around to eat. And some squirrels. . At night there are other pesty critters and foxes scampering around to eat. And also some other predators. I have a hawk living right here and a pair of owls. It is fun to watch all of this going on.

That's how I do it Carol.... I am cleaning drawers and storage bins as I clean here and when I get them the way I wan them I threaten to make whoever messes it up with having to redo it.. as it's basically hubby and me that works.. course he has not been retired before so don't know how well that will work now....LOL!

Hubby is now fixing garbage disposer- well replacing it actually- so think I will go get my shower now and start on the laundry- want to do my big comforter too while it's not supposed to rain so I can mostly dry it outside... then will start my living room cleaning till he is finished and then finish up my kitchen.... baseboards and floor left to do...

Have a good day all.... !

I have been outside working. I was reaching down to pull a clump of weeds and saw a rattler. A full, slow rattler. That makes me happy because he was not hungry and mean. He also no longer exists.
That was my excitement for the day.

Well, If I had anyone close by that I could have called, I would have taken him a few miles up the dirt road and relocated him. I don't kill for fun.

I am taking a break from my pole chainsaw. Cutting out deadwood from my shrubs. My arms are out of shape.

Good afternoon. It's raining here. We have no coffee so I went to 7-11 to buy a cheap cup of coffee. The dog let me sleep longer today. Been catching up on my shows and will be getting ready for work soon.

I am done and done in. I will be napping in a minute.
Cheryl, I am glad the sweet dogs let you sleep in.

.<3 love hearing about your lives. Thank you JunieGirl for the information on the differences between the weather....
I did not know that there was a spring cleaning fairy, I thought it was a motivation fairy.
Since I have found this site I am rarely ever on facebook any more.
Congratulations Junie on your anniversary, I hope to be there in about 28 years. And on the new grandbaby!
Congratulations to you as well, Nana on your 37 year anniversary. I would definitely be getting your Grandkids to help this year with planting and watering. My kids help me with everything I do whether I want them to or not, but if I want their help they are no where to be found lol. I have learned a lot of patience over the last couple of years.
Last year when we built the small garden the girls gathered the rocks to build the perimeter and planted 80% of the seeds.
Well the timer is telling me that dinner is ready... better not burn it.

If I traveled to the end of the rainbow As Dame Fortune did intend, Murphy would be there to tell me The pot's at the other end.
