Watching Gardening by the Yard right now - he has a great idea for plant markers. I hate plant markers - they don't last, I accidentally rake them out, they are tacky looking, etc. Here's a great idea I am going to use - when it stops raining. Take a smooth rock, write the plant name on the rock and place by the plant - won't blow away and looks more natural! I love it!

Also, he had a solution to use for cleaning teracotta pots - you know, when they get that white deposit yuck on them that's impossible to clean? I have to look it up again, but will post it after I try it.

That is a great idea!! I really like that one. I could even do that in my pots. I hate the markers sticking up in them or the sticky I put on the side of the pot. Thanks for sharing that Patty!!!!

I think this idea is so cool!!! You could even go ahead and paint the rest of the rock in a color, or with flowers.

I did a few the other day and used just a permanent marker, but next time I get to town I'm going to pick up some sealant to spray on my mod podge birdhouse and thought I'd try spraying the rocks too. Think that would work?

thats what i do. i use the sealer spray for my ceramics, if you dont seal it . it will eventualy wear off.
i dont mind the plant markers. the plants hide them when they fill out, but i do tend to loose them alot, rocks has a more natural look, ive got them mixed up wile weeding, ill pull out a nasty weed and the rock gose flyin!
i have no luck nomatter what i use, its best i wright down what i plant and were :}

another idea, not as creative, but works, is to use the handle of a plastic knife. write with a permanent marker, then put tape over it. stick the blade in the soil near the plant, and the foliage will hide it but you can find it easily, and it stays better than regular plant markers.
