Lets hear from anyone on Starting new plants from cutting of the mom plant.
The type of plant an how it is started..Water, soil or whatever.

Or any shrubs outside you can do the same with..
Help us help each other survive without expenses.

Thanks....

Barb--nice idea.

I have started my Philodendron & pothos in glasses of water.

while my book says to put rooting hormone on the ends of cuttings & pop them in soil, I pop mine in a glass of water & they root like crazy.

I also did that with my bamboo. Now that too says use soil--but I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat..

BTW: I have lots of cuttings of the palm I would gladly share. They are about 1-1/2 tall these days. A guy Rod works with gave them to me---and really I have no place to put them were I to pot them up.

My MIL grew sweet potatoes in water also. She would add some of her African violet food to that water so they would root & grow greenery. That makes a very pretty plant as well.

I'm going to cut a branch or two of a gardenia bush and stick them in water and see if they'll root.

Speaking of sweet potato vines, the botanical garden in Belmont, NC (not too far from here) planted them everywhere this last year to build up the soil. I think they put nitrogen back into the soil.

I've rooted pothos and purple queen from cuttings. Two nice little plants to have.
