Hi all,
I've had my miniature hawaiian palm for about 2 years now. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what it said it was on the label when I got it. Could have got mixed up over time though.
Anyway, this guy's always been fine and has grown well since I had it. However, I got back after 2 weeks away over xmas and almost all the leaves had shrivelled up. I was very surprised as it doesn't need too much water, so two weeks away shouldn't have been a problem and hasn't been in the past.
I watered it, and have been keeping an eye on it since, but things are getting worse, not better. Even the little new leaves coming through are dying straight away.
Extra plant info - sits on my window sill above a radiator - but has been for the last half year without difficulty. Was given a compost stick about 3 months ago, but one that said it was suitable for palms and it's only just started dying. Last thing is that over xmas it also seems to have had a strange growth spurt - from what I can see it looks like it suddenly grew fast whilst the leaves died.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and what I could do? I've checked for parasites and I'm out of ideas now.
I really love this plant!
