Hello fellow gardeners,

I'm looking to buy a chainsaw as mine's just broken, I bought it quite cheaply and therefore have suffered because of it (aghhh!), there was no aftercare or anything from the company I bought it from. I'm looking for something that's good quality but also for a company that looks after you a bit once you've made the purchase too, any tips or advice?

Thanks so much

Go to a STIHL Chainsaw store. They are quality saws, and have a range of sizes & prices. From the dealings we have had with them, the stores where they sell them provide repair & maintance services. Also I think the company is very helpful as well.

___________

I should have added:
My Husband has a Stihl chainsaw & would not own anything else. I have taken it to the store where he bought it for him and they were ready & willing to help.

I sorted an Amazon listing of "chainsaw" by greatest reviews (you'll have to scroll through as they add suggested products as well that don't really have anything to do with the search parameters) here.

I wouldn't use one enough to warrant having it lol... I do however use my Fiskars Axe enough to warrant it lol.

Also, someone mentioned the brand Husqvarna, is it worth the cost?

Well, usually you can replace the chain if it breaks; I'm sure that's one of the likely causes when one experiences a "Break" with a chainsaw :P.

As for the Husqvarna brand, they seem to have a lot of positive reviews on Amazon for all of their products, so it'd seem to be a decent brand.

I have several chainsaws. In several different brands. They do some good heavy work but they do all take constant maintenance. To get the best work out of them you need to keep the chains sharpened. And chain and bar oil is important.
I have never had a chain break though. The vibrations can loosen bolts and cause the tension to loosen so the chain slips. I have had bars that bent.
The Stihl is the best I have had. But I have a couple of Echo brand that do the bulk of my work now.
The trick is in the maintenance though. I cannot do that myself so I have a couple of friends I can call on to help out. And a couple of small engine shops nearby that I trust if needed.

Yes she sure is !!

My Husband has had several brands of Chainsaws--we heated the house out at the farm with wood. And for his Money he prefers the Sthil.
