forsythia blooms here very early too. Are you saying if I cut off a branch I can get it to bloom inside? I might find some bulbs at Lowe's and try this.

Yes Sheri
Cut some off now an put them in water inside an you will soon see green leaves an then they will bloom before you know it . I do it yearly.
Might cut a few today..
Try it .
Then they get roots on them an you can plant an grow more of them..

tHAT COOL BUT NOT THE WAY TO FORCE THEM.
You need to put them in a vase with water in it.. Not dirt .
The water makes them burst into leaves.

Just move them.
Leave one or 2 in the dirt an see what happens.

That pot has a vase with water in it, no dirt. Remember Jiffy? She sent me that pot last year.

and african violets are easy to root by just sticking them in the dirt. I haven't planted the seeds you sent me yet. Think I'm going to fix up a pot of dirt this weekend and plant them. Maybe I'll have silk road lilies soon.

are you going to transplant your lilies and Hollyhocks to outside when it warms up?

I don't have african violets anymore either. I really don't have enough sunlight coming into this house.

Yes after it gets warm enough.
Do you start tomatoes an peppers inside for the spring planting? I do but not just yet. Too cold here.
You probably can start the flower seeds like marigolds an such soon.Hibiscus

Well, it's not really a green house in that it doesn't have a sprinkler system and it's not really air tight. It's more of a storage building with big windows and a clear roof. Johnny did put a plug in there and I've got a little heater in there and there is water close by.

luv

Sounds good to me.
Friend here had plastic one, oval shape, wind did it in after a few years of freeze an thaw.
However she has $ to put up another one, larger type.

I don't need all that work for me.. She sells lots. ANd complains of all the work she has.

She must have a big garden and sell a lot. I love going to the farmers market. I'm sure it's a lot of hard work.

Her father left part of his farm to her.. Split it amongs 6 or 7 kids. Was pretty big to start with . Her son leases other farms for his benefits, so she isn't exactly alone in the projects.. All 6 of the families help each other , as well as grandkids.. So she must do I=ok......They try to lease my farm.. Naw.. Another successful neighbor , my ex neighbor I leased to him.. He pays 4 times as much for rent as they did.. And this man puts his manure back into my land......Very good college graduate farmer.

I do nothing in farming now.. Just my yard an garden.

That is good dodge. How many acres do you lease out?

I cut some spirea sprigs and stuck them in the pot of water with the forsythia. Will be cool if it all blooms.

The spirea has bloomed. I took a picture but the white flowers are so tiny they didn't show up. I'm going to add a sprig of the butterfly bush and see what happens.

I haven't gotten outside yet to get a spring of the butterfly bush. Maybe tonight.

I'm surprised at how fast that spirea bloomed.
