IN the last CH it was brought up about the bad weather in the midwest & I was worried about--(thanks so much)

Well just to tell you all, the tornados went north of us, and south of us, but we just got the rain & the very strong winds.

It looked scary, the TV made it sound scary, but in the end we were ok---

But thanks for your concern.

I am glad you are safe, Carol. I was happy to see you come in today. That told me things were pretty good for you.

Zoom! There went Suzydaze.
Ted and I are ready for the new school week. The bedding is all fresh and clean. I am not as organized as I would like to be, Carol. I have a constant fight with clutter on flat surfaces. I tell myself that as long as that stack of junk mail is there, dust isn't.

Hello all, I am so glad you were out of harms way Carol...that same storm is bringing us heavy rain, thankfully it took the warmth with it so we won't be getting snow.

Does anyone have any advice with dealing with anxiety for me, seems to be taking over my life again.

I am sorry, Sunny. I just read something about herbal remedies for this but unless I can find that article again....
There may be some such available online for herbs and things. I have never needed anything for myself but the happy pills they gave John while he was ill saved both of our lives.
Good morning. My cold is staying in my head so far. That is very good. I can deal with that. We are ready for Monday.

Junie, I've never watched Duck Dynasty but I know a lot of people who do. I have been watching reruns of Modern Family and The Middle. I can never seem to find them when they're on new. Both those shows make me laugh.

I am sick today. I have a terrible cough and maybe a temperature. It's nice not to have to worry about going to work.

Is it too personal to ask if Obamacare is going to work for some of you without insurance? Johnny's daughter works full time at a school. Unfortunately for her she was hired when the schools started hiring on an "interim" basis when means you are full time but we don't offer you any benefits. She was one of the ones who was able to register for Obamacare but listening to the news it may not be what she's hoping it will be. She was told when she registered by phone that she will be covered starting January 1, 2014. I'm just not sure how this is going to work.

Good morning--yes I missed the bad part of the storms, thankfully.

All I know about Obamacare for sure is that our medical thru my DH's employer WILL go up from 30 to 70% in January--That from the insurance rep when he came to talk to the company & workers this month.

I know insurance companies are having to revamp policies and the cost of those policies are changing. I am not sure what it means for me yet. Jonni's private insurance went up by $24 a month, $288 a year, beginning in January 2014. Ted's insurance (same as Jonni's) is demanding he come in for more various appointments than they ever used to do. This is due to requirements of the new healthcare laws. But overall, I am not sure what it all will end up meaning. I can only hope it is good things.
We were without power this morning. So I got home and began organizing one of my sheds. I got stuff put away that was cluttering up my deck and I am pretty happy about that. Power is back. I heard a vehicle hit a power pole somewhere. It has been a productive morning already.

about the health care--all we can do is wait & see, I guess---it is just in the mean time I will worry. It is a good thing we have The Holidays to distract me.
I am glad that the kids policies will just go up that small of an amount---I have heard of people having their policies double or that they lose all coverage. Hopefully they will get this all straightened up soon.

Back right before the first frost, I cleaned off all my tomato plants of the green tomatoes & put them in my crisper..

SOOOO, at lunch today I had fried green tomatoes & homemade potato chips----I am one VERY happy camper. shewinks

I been doing Oven frys.. Slice them like frenchies.. Put on a ungreased cookie sheet, at 20 for 20 minutes, flip them an do it again.

if I am making them in the oven I do it like you just described. Except that I either spray them with butter flavored pam or put them in a bowl after cutting them up & sprinkle with oil, mix, then put on the cookie sheet & proceed as you do.

But this afternoon, I cleaned a potato, shaved off most of the peeling and then thinly sliced the potato (to make the pieces look like chips) & fried them in a skillet filled part way with canola oil. When done, I drain on paper towel & then sprinkle with salt.

I slice the green tomatoes, sprinkle with lemon pepper seasoning, coat with flour & then fry as above.

Good Morning,

Up early today... got an apt with financial guy.. then turkey day shopping to do- have to sign my old car over to grandson- go drop the insurance on it... do laundry some time - probably this evening...

I go to get my bone density test tomorrow- did the blood work yesterday... hubby did his doc apt too .. now I have one more next month with dermatologist and that will be it for this yr...

It's chilly this morning but supposed to warm up later.. then get colder tomorrow and next day and the dreaded s word happening , 2-4 inches expected.... lucky us wish the mtns would just keep it... LOL!

Well off to get myself ready to go.. got my list made for store- hopefully won't forget anything critical...

Nana

My, my, Nana. You are very busy. Our mountains could also get snow this week. I am not looking forward to it.
I got Ted to school and stopped for 3 items at the grocery store. $80 later I got home and put it all away. I have been puttering around the house cleaning this and that without stressing about any of it. So my trash cans are cleaned up. And kitchen floor. How can my small family be so messy?

I feel like I am running and meeting myself lately.... should slow down after tomorrow... hubby goes back to work and I can get back to normal.......LOL!

Good news from our finance guy- we can retire in the next yr and a half or so... YAY! that will be nice for all of us...

I am feeling the cold weather coming already... or the increase in humidity .. need to go gather clothes to wash but all I want to do is sit... may try that for a short time then do laundry- I agree how do just 2 people make so much laundry... or make the house messy..

Joe just went with JP to sign the car over to him... then all that chore will be done... we picked up our plates yesterday... that was an expensive trip but done now- maybe we can get the other car taken care of tomorrow.. sell it to a wrecking yard so it won't be in front of their house anymore... and we get our truck back so Joe can drive it when it isn't snowing... save on gas...

Well my soap is almost over better go collect the clothes and get it started- think it will be a spaghetti night for us- something easy and fast is good on days like this...

Have a good afternoon all.

Yes, I too would like to know how 2 people can make so much mess & dirty so many clothes... why

Back from ceramics--and I am so full I could just curl up & take a nap. Instead I think I will be starting supper soon... rolz

Rod says it will be at least 5 more years for us before he can retire. Congratulations to you though Sherri.

Thanks Carol... we are just really lucky we invested in his 401k years ago and they matched up to 16% till this coming year, it is now a diff company- they have been bought 3 times now- Joe will have 41 yrs with them in Feb,, started before he was officially 18.. we may have to sell this house for a smaller one but that would be fine with me... eventually we won't be up to yard work and stairs..

It is faster for us to do spaghetti cause my sauce in made in advance and frozen- we just add the meat(usually precooked ground turkey) and boil the noodles... add some garlic toast and maybe a salad- dinner is done... and it's simple so I can usually get Joe to do it.... LOL!

They are back and car is now gone- can call insurance co tomorrow and cancel that one- Yay! Joe is so funny , he had to take his truck out for a spin.. it's his baby .. had it from brand new and he is glad he has it back now...

Well off to get another load started... and then start my sauce cookin....

Good Evening all,

Nana

We had to take our 401K out & put it into a IRA when the business Rod was working for closed & moved down south somewhere.
THEN the bottom fell out & we lost more than half of what we had in the IRA. Now we have to wait until Rod is 66 for him to retire---he fell into the age catagory of those who will not get full benefits if they do not wait until then...I so wish he could though. Not that I am anxious to have him around me all day- lol but I would be happy if he did not have to drive so far to work every day & work so hard. (he is a welder/fabricator)

I should go do some laundry, thanks for the nudge, Nana.

Yes, that economic crash in 2008 really made a dent in most people's IRAs. Ours included. And I am watching and expecting another one of those in the future. That is part of why I am stockpiling food and such. It will never be cheaper than it is now. And even now it is up so much from last year and the year before that.
My cold has given me a headache. I am trying not to whine about it.

That is a very good idea, Tina----I can see that I need to talk to Rod.

Whine away--if that helps then we are here to listen. Would a hot steamy shower help it ????

Good morning all...

Sorry you are feeling under the weather Tina kissie

Nana, congrats on the retirement...I agree with downsizing, most people hate to leave their family home but there comes a time when it would be just so much easier with less to do.

Junie, my husband will not be able to retire until he is 67. And the way that it is going pension wise...maybe not at all.

Very cold and windy here, brrrr.....

Good morning. I am a little better today, I think. The weather is cool but calm. We may get some much needed rain in a day or two. That will be heavenly. I may even light up a stove for the occasion.

Good Morning from me as well wavy

With the enconomy, I may not be able to stay in my house UNTIL he retires, never mind after---The taxes are horrid--and the assessor was here a few weeks ago---Illinois is in need of Money, & to raise taxes is one way to get more I guess. uhuhh

Yep, I left out that part....Rod may not be able to retire then either, at least until I am 66. Sad thing is he is hoping that he can do the heavy part of his job "until" he is 66--never mind after that.

And I cannot draw SS until he does, as I do not have enough of my own to draw from, so I must draw from him . I should be working, so that I get paid, and then could draw on myself, but apparently I am too old to get hired any longer- at least to the jobs that I am healthy enough to do--But we will pass that--I have beat that horse to death.

*We now return you to your regularily scheduled programming*

I am off to do a few errands & then I will do some window shopping today. Sounds like a good time to me.. shewinks
