i was trying to figure out a soil ratio in which i could plant a wide variety of seeds into and not burn them. when i say organic i dont mean vermiculite, perlite, or peat moss. all those are mined or take a large amount of energy and time to produce and transport. im talking about things i can find locally and or in a back yard that can be processed, mixed, and pasteurized into something i can use.

Yes, I have a worm farm and use a mix of my mulched garden byproducts, sand and worm castings. I rarely buy soil mixes but I have. I don't use a set formula or ratio. Any one of those things can turn out different each time, even my local sand. I mix what looks and feels right. It seems to work well for me.

Here are a few words in seed starting to make one have more confident..
Tina show us you mix for your compose to start seeds.. Guess it takes a while to make this/

Starting plants from seed has many practical benefits: You save money, get a head start on the growing season, and choose from varieties far beyond those locally available. You also get to experience the joy of watching a seemingly lifeless seed sprout into a living plant.

A seed is a plant embryo and its initial food supply is stored within a protective coating. seeds remain dormant until a combination of moisture, temperature, air, and light triggers germination.

True storys here.. Ask any farmer or gardener who starts seeds inside.. Certainly is worth while if you have the room to do it.

Profitable too an more fun to see unique seeds grow in different climates.
