Good morning. To bed at 2 am up at 7:30...I sure coulda used a bit more sleep--oh well. last night at midnight I put some chicken in the crock pot on high (the new pots do not get so hot apparently) I was to let it cook on high for at least 1 hour then turn it to what they call low in their cookbooks (looked like medium to me) When I got up this morning, the meat was falling off the bone, but I really didn't smell that chicken smell. why so I turned it back up to high now that I am awake & can watch it.
here in a few I am going to put together some recipe that Emily asked me to make with the cooked chicken. you put the shredded chicken, cream of mushroom soup & crushed ritz crackers together. then you put it on buns for a sandwich...

We shall see.

today is my grandson's first Birthday party. I am SOOO looking forward to it.

Our hottest month is usually September. Then the next 3 months start chilling gradually and are very windy. Blow you over windy. That is our highest fire season as it is so drying. I live in a very interesting place. And I like it for the most part. It certainly isn't boring. And then you toss in the occasional earthquake to shake things up a bit...
Water, water, water. That is my schedule for now.

We get the 4 seasons here...in all their radiant glory.
Now that I am old I could skip the summer and winter and just keep spring and fall.

Rachel left awhile ago and my eyes are swelled back up again from crying. Brennan is so much taller than me it totally blows my mind every time I see him.

Hey! I got my first seeds today from my pink dinnerplate hibiscus awhile ago! I have 4 seeds now, and lots of pods that are going to give me LOTS of seeds! party

I would have problems dealing with the chill anywhere else now. I have lived in the northeast and through some powerful blizzards and such for several years. In my 20's it was kind of fun. But even then I knew I would want to spend my old age in a milder climate.
I am feeling very sorry for those people at the outdoor concert at the pavilion up my road. It is one hot day to spend in the dust. I am sure their first aide stations are full of overheated sickos. Tomorrow it is supposed to drop almost 10 degrees for them. But I still would not go out into 95*.

HI !!! I am back home---it was a great party !!! MY daughter pulled off a great party. ..The only thing is, she made a "different type" of cake for Luke's first birthday.

It is applesauce (natural with no added sugar)
......a banana &
......King Arthur's Flour. The icing was ok, Luke ate it--but when he put a big piece of cake in his mouth, he spit it back out..(I tasted it later & he did the right thing )!!! LOL

about the weather----we have 4 seasons here too----BUT while we "like" to have spring, summer, winter, fall---a lot of the years we have all 4 seasons within 1 season & then repeat... why

I cannot live in /c. I like the coolness that it gives sometimes but it messes with my sinus' almost instantly. I can get pretty sick if I spend too much time in it.
It is cooling off as it gets dark here. So I have a load of laundry in. I can keep the cooler on back there until after it dries.

Good morning...it is freezing here again, in the low 30's outside.

The local farmers lost a lot of their gardens...thankfully I picked mine clean before the frost hit.

Good morning. Raining here----so that is nice---perhaps it is in time to help the beans---they look good yet, so this should help the pods make.

It is supposed to be hot again here this week--but then wait until tomorrow they might change their mind--

I have a headache---a bad head-stuffed headache---I hope it go4es away soon egad

Sunnny, glad that you got your garden harvested. That would be sad to lose it all after all the hard work.

It has cooled down here about 10 degrees from yesterday. I slept late for me and then grabbed my coffee and went out to enjoy it while moving hoses and pulling weeds.
I had my computer scanning itself while I was busy elsewhere. I got my laundry completed today as well. I came in and took my vacuum apart to clean all of the filters. I bought one that had all washable filters. And I bought extra filters so those could dry and I can keep on working. What a blessing that is. I live with so much dust.
I plan on doing some fall deep cleaning the next few weeks.
I don't like a/c but I can use my evaporative coolers most of the season and they work very well. Those will not work in humidity very well though. They are much kinder on my sinus'.

Once again, there is Tina, working all hard---.

That was a very smart idea about the vacuum, Tina. thumbup

Today I am just washing clothes. I will have so much to do outside the house next week, so I thought to do the "house" stuff while I am home today.

My DD just texed me & "thanked" us for the lovely ATV we bought their son for his birthday. She says she is going to record it's sound effects & hide it in our house so we can "enjoy" the sounds non-stop as well... haha why

good news is we got him other "quiet gifts"...

Noisy gifts can be a pain. But children love them so much.
Some of my 'busy-ness' takes more time to type than it does to do. And I get to sit and rest when I do the typing. Tina is going to lay down and snooze a bit now.

Yes they do love them---LOL
But really "grandpa" didn't know it made a sound when he ordered it--he just liked that it was a small ATV & thought Luke would have fun with it.

I understand about the "taking longer to type than to do" thing---I feel that way sometimes too.

but oh well--that is a good thing to get things done faster than it sounds, right ?

have a good nap.

Parents learn pretty fast not to replace batteries in noisy toys lol Glad baby loves it though.

Glad you are getting some cooler weather Tina. It is cold this morning, frost again and in the very low 30's.

Time for Fall prep.

Well I have officially turned my grand daughter into a gardener, we took her to the store for a treat and she asked for tulip bulbs to plant in 'her garden'. lol Sounds cute but then after she got them, I was told that I am making her her very own flower garden in my yard haha

Good morning. coffee

Sunny, when I saw that your granddaughter had chosen the bulbs, I knew she was related to you---and then I also thought, she will have the flower bed at your house, & yep the next line confirmed that... lol But then you have the room, right ?? And, it will be that much less grass to mow--- shewinks

I will say that for such a little one, I am surprised she did not ask for a toy or candy---I am impressed.

Sorry about the cold. It is cool & overcast now, but the forcast is for a high of 94 today.

GTG--time to go take my MIL to get her blood tests.

Good morning.
I had thought my youngest daughter would be a gardener when she was small. She could name many tree types before she was three. And every time we got an avocado seed I would give it to her to plant out there. They almost all grew and I have a couple of her full grown avocado trees out there and there were more we gave away. But she lost interest in most of that as she grew and decided boys were more fun.
And Sunny, cooler is relative. Instead of 100+ degrees, yesterday was only mid 90's.

Good morning everyone!

We went by a landscaping shop last night and picked up 6 new roses and a ton of tulip bulbs; was interesting loading full plants into the trunk of a Cadillac lol.

Today I'm waiting on the landscapers to work on finishing the leveling of the yard; finally have something to show!

Yeah, I love the brick... The guy who came out for the quote recommended the color based on our planter boxes that we have on the front porch; we have more for the back porch but everything we bought for both yards at the beginning of Summer are sitting on the back porch so I haven't been able to really do anything this summer at all lol.

They're going to be putting a full patio on that second tier that the stairs lead up to and I'll have a raised bed to the right just off of the deck; but i think that's the last thing they're going to be working on.

The bottom tier will be all Sandy Loam soil and eventually have an above ground pool on it. The top tier (in the picture where the vehicle is) will have a shed and maybe a coop (haven't decided 100% yet).

Your yard is looking good, James. I am enjoying the work in progress pictures.
Got my boy to school and stopped to shop at two places. I still need to go out and get gas and to one more store that is not open early before I pick Ted up. I came home and put that away and got started on my fall cleaning chores. Getting the summer layer out of the house now. I will be leaving in another hour or so for that.

Looks great James.

Today I will be starting the Fall clean up out there...tree trimming and such.

I hope you can rest tomorrow too, Dodge.
Good morning. I have most of my late summer, outdoor cleanup done except for maintaining it. I am concentrating on what I neglected indoors. And getting in my firewood.

Good Morning. breakfast

wHILE I was getting ready to go to ceramics, & Emily phoned to have me come & watch Luke this afternoon. It seems she was going to take him to a friends, but he woke up with the sniffles. As I am having trouble with allergies all of a sudden the last few days, I think that is his problem, but I will go so she will not worry.

Sunny: fall cleaning & tree trimmimg---I really need to think on starting my fall cleaning I guess, esp since I am so slow--dont work too hard.

Dodge: I am with Sheri...I hate the mess, but the end product is great. your mess is started. That means it will be done soon.

Tina--OMG--fall clean-up outdoors. I did some preliminary weeding, & cleaning out a few days ago, but I will need to start preparing for winter soon--but I think I will wait a bit---it is supposed to be in the mid to high 90's this week.

Sheri: as stated I agree with you on the mess thing.

I will need to go some outdoor painting soon. Then DH says we will start paiinting the indoors in the fall---I am not looking forward to that---he is not the easiest person to work with. But I suppose it must be done.

ceramics this am & then some Luke time this afternoon. catch you all later.
