It is about 4ft tall 3ft wide bush has small well concealed thorns it has red berries that poen to flowersvery unusual plant. Thanks Betty

That has to be one of the most unusual plants I have ever seen. I have idea what it is, though.

the flower looks similar to anthurium or peace lily. are you sure that the bush/plant has thorns? maybe something else (a thorny vine) is wrapped around this plant?

I think it looks like an Erythrina of some sort.
Maybe Erythrina crista-galli?

it is a subtropical, I have heard it called a few things it is in the anthurium family
