If you have ever signed up to receive special discount offers from LivingSocial, it is time to change your LivingSocial password. The daily deals site recently fell victim to a cyber attack.

Customer information including names, email addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords were exposed. Fortunately, credit card information was not stolen during the attack.

In an email to employees, LivingSocial CEO Tim O'Shaughnessy shared that the company would be expiring the existing passwords of the affected customers and reaching out via email to request that they create a new password.¹

Remember, LivingSocial will never ask you to provide your personal or account information via email. You will be prompted to log in to your account before providing sensitive information.¹

We are sending you this message to keep you informed so that you can take extra precautions to protect yourself. You do not need to contact LifeLock. Rest assured, LifeLock will continue to work proactively to help keep criminals from misusing your personal information.

Steps you can take to protect yourself:
1 Check to see if you received an email from LivingSocial regarding the data breach. Follow the instructions for resetting your password.
2 If you use the compromised password for any other online accounts, we recommend that you change those passwords as well.
3 Be cautious when responding to any communications coming from LivingSocial—they should only contact you by email and that email should only direct you to LivingSocial.com to change your password. Keep in mind identity thieves may attempt to phish for more information with a disguised email.
4 Visit LivingSocial.com for additional details and answers. madd
