One of my close friends gave me a baby Japanese maple tree last year. It was a happy tree and went to sleep for the winter. It decided it was time to come out recently. It was having new growth and looking completely happy. Yesterday I noticed it was looking rather wilted so I gave it some extra water. The weather has been crazy here and my friend with the parent plant, all her maples are doing fine. I noticed some white powdery stuff on the trunk of the tree. I am not sure when the white powder appeared, I have been busy taking care of my 2 baby ducks. Can anyone tell me what this is and if it is killing my tree?
