This flower bed is starting to take shape. It has been hard to start but I've been determined.

I've tried a couple of things in it and they just wouldn't take. So last year and this year I've been adding compost. Last year I also added money plants. 2 of the three survived. So this year right around the base I've added a clump of bronze/rust mums. So I have spring, fall, and winter interest. For summer I'm thinking portulaca. The bed is full sun and on the dry side. I have some seeds but they are not fresh. Should I plant them in pots and watch them carefully or wait and see if I can get any plants later in the season? I know they don't transplant all that well.

Your comments are very welcome.

Also I only made the bed about 18 inches wide from the base of the birdbath to the outside ring of stones so in total maybe 42 inches across. Should I make it wider?

I'll take the camera out and see if I can see anything but it's grey out so I may not be able to capture anything with my cheapy camera.

Not clear on what you have here. Is it like a bog garden? I have some water irises you can have if it is.

The bed is full sun, the soil is clay amended with compost.

I increased the size by about 6 inches all around. I'm much happier with that. I probably won't be when I start weeding but for now I am.

I'll try and get pictures tomorrow. I don't think I can do it today and the other day the pictures just didn't come out all that well.
