Hello Newly registered longtime visitor!

Can anybody tell me the name of this tree/shrub situated in CA.
I was given it after it sat in a pot for years and was root bound i have replanted it now.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank You.

It looks like a type of native azalea. I had one in my front yard but got rid of it because it always looked so sparse.
