I thought I would start the next thread for this topic since I'm working on something.

I found this beautiful pattern for a batwing pearl smocked sweater on another site. But it was machine made. So I thought I would try and tweak it. I'm not much of a knitter so this has been fun.

So far rather then doing the pearls and smocking I decided to make the front triangle out of a different color carrying the first color through the work so it creates little dots every couple of stitches that are sort of radom and sort of in a diagonal pattern. When I get it together I'll take pictures.

The next problem was the length of the front at the shoulder. Some how I went 317 stitches rather than 256 and the part where the shoulder seams come together actually extends over my wrist and onto my hand alittle. So I thought I would alter the cuff so that it would attach farther up the arm and the point would pierce the cuff and end in a point at the hand. Again when I get it done I'll take pictures.

Then the next big problem is the crew neck. I plant to knit it as a separate piece and then sew it on and double it. I may have to scrape that idea because it would be to thick but it's the plan for right now. Do you think I should do the neckline as rib knit to match the waistband or stockenette to match the body of the sweater?

I honestly am at a loss in trying to remember my knitting stitches. I have been trying to knit those mini sock decorations for the Christmas tree and have torn it apart three times.

Well I am no knitter, And just trying to get good at Crocheting.
I for the life of me am having the worst time understanding patterns. I can Single Double and triple crochet, can do the increase and decrease. Having a hard time with the circles.
I wish I had someone to physically show me certain things. Like some patterns go under the whole stitch, some go in the back part of the stitch, some in the front. Sigh..Any suggestions?
I got a simple pattern book for dishcloths. HAH it is anything but simple. cry

I still seem to suck at it, can do the stitches well but the patterns are still a mystery to me. maybe I should start memorizing the abreviations. Everyone seems to write the patterns a bit different! boohoo

Phototbucket is a mess so I don't have pictures that I can put up here.

But so far I've Designed one Neckwarmer, finished testing a headband, messed up one sock and one fingerless glove. Just finished designing and making one pull over sweater (it still needs to be sewn together.) and sketched a cardigan. So it's been a busy year so far. Now if more of it was successful I'd be feeling very good.
