I see a titmouse once in a while but they move to fast to get a picture. Very skiddish birds. I love their hair though. Reminds me of my own hair sticking up like that.

Dodge - the cardinal is in a coral bark japanese maple tree. The leaves get red in autumn.

We have lots of titmouses here - they've been eating the catfood I put out daily for the one cat that's been coming around - crazy!

(never understood why the plural is not titmice, but it is not!) touched

Other people have said that the birds eat their cat food too. I've never seen the birds eating our cat food. I think I'd have more time to snap a picture if they'd munch on the cat food. Any movement and they fly from wherever they're perched.

We have lots of cardinals, robins,Eastern bluebirds, and chickadees.

Sheri - most of the birds here will empty the catfood dish very quickly - they hop down, grab a piece and fly off before you can blink. I have to look into whether is cheaper to buy catfood than birdfood, since they seem to like both!

Our cats killed one of our doves and it was like a blood bath in the driveway. It was horrible.

I love bird watching but I don't like the birders forum. I wish we could get the interest back on here. I enjoyed it when Thornius was here. Wonder where he is.

what kind of doves do you have in PA? Here they lay eggs 3 or 4 times a year so we have lots. Might be too cold in PA to do that. We used to have a couple living in a camellia shrub in the back yard but the cats have run them off.

Nice dove picture, Sheri!

Here is a red breasted woodpecker that was on my feeder this afternoon - we have a few of them - this one seems to be smaller than the rest. I never understood the name, as the head is such a bright red! I know they had already named the Red Headed Woodpecker, but surely they could have come up with a better name for this bird? The red on the breast is very faint.

do you take the pictures from inside the house? Maybe that's my problem. I go outside and as soon as they hear me they're gone.

yes that's a bluebird. Until this sleet they were everywhere. I hope they didn't start to nest too early.

I'm so happy to have woodpeckers show up.

the sleet was really coming down and I didn't get a clear pictures.

Yes, those are 2 different birds. I have 2 without the red and have only seen 1 with the red. I'll try for better pictures when it's not sleeting.

Last I heard from Thorn he had met a young woman online from England and was extremely interested in pursing a relationship with her. I haven't even seen him on Facebook in a while.
