I have a copper tub that I want to use as a planter, but I don't want to put holes in for drainage. Does anyone have any ideas as to what kind of plants I could use that don't need drainage for their roots? (P.S. - don't particularly care for cactus...have dogs and the planter would be at 'nose' level...assuming that they don't need much in the way of drainage)

geraniums would look nice in it,, you can always put pebbles or rock at the bottom to provide 'some' drainage.

How about water plants such as water lilies?

The aquatic thing seems like the way to go.

Because with no drainage holes, water should slowly keep accumulating if there is no way to drain.

I have to agree. I think the water lilies would look great!

If you look into flood plain plants they can usually handle high water content in the soil and drought as well.
