Last year I bought a red miniature blooming rose during valentines day. I just couldn't resist. Of course I knew that I couldn't keep it inside the house but I hoped I could plant it outside. Well last year we had a late freeze and the rose just didn't make it. So what did I just do? The miniature blooming roses were 2.99 each and I got two. Now the question is what in the world am I going to do to keep them alive. I watered them because they were dry and put them in a south facing window. But how to I winterize them at this time of year?

Sounds like you did the best thing for them for now. Just give them as much light as possible and a little water over the winter. Just enough to keep them alive. Mine grow outdoors and weather snow on them and light frosts so they are pretty tough plants. So I would not worry about your inside temps too much, just any air registers that may dry them out.

I did it again this year. But this year on the first nice day I took them out and gently separated the 4 plants that were in each pot. I left 3 plants of each color outside and brought one of each color inside. I'm suprised that the ones inside haven't died. Outside I'm not sure how they are doing. It's snowed, froze, and shined on them from one day to the next.

When did you plant them outside? If they've had time to acclimate bet they do fine.

I left two of mine out this year since I'm not going to be home to water them
