Merry Christmas Eve to all!

Just finished baking my banana bread, well 2 loaves- 2 are in the oven, inbetween made a batch of fudge... it's cooling.... and made a gingerbread too... Timba asked me to make it cause all he had ever had was the cookies... so hope he likes it....

We got a few extra stocking stuffers today... and found the George Forman grill Joe wanted on sale too- so saved a bunch on it... his Christmas present...LOL ! we usually wait till after to buy for each other.... so mine is still waiting in the store... LOL!

Well it's getting to be time to eat... we have shrimp, corn, and a nacho plate to snack on... it's our tradition since it's been just us on Christmas... then for New Years we get tamales....

Joe has found Chritmas music on Utube... don't know why he just doesn't play the 45 cds we have,so far we have all the ones he has found.... kids showed him how to do it the other day , he doesn't usually play with the comp much ..

Merry Christmas! We are getting snow... so we will have a white Christmas this year....
Stay Safe and enjoy the day!

Zoooommm, was that Sunny?
Nana, I have tamales for tomorrow but think they will go into the freezer for New Years. We had shrimp yesterday. Great minds...
Keep safe in your snow.
I am very glad to have no stockings to stuff tonight. And no bags of Christmas litter to clean up tomorrow. I am happy and my kids are happy. And everyone is having a fairly stress-free holiday. Tomorrow will be spent relaxing and reflecting.

I have not been doing graphics. My old computer does not like to move around the net to find them, store them to Photobucket then post them here. It freezes up on me. I think I will be getting a new desktop sometime this year. I have a backup netbook but I prefer a big screen and big keyboard.
I will be going out today to take my older son to town. I wonder if Mac Donald's is open for my younger son? I guess I will find out. I did French toast for breakfast. With a couple McDoubles and a shake he will have a lovely Christmas.

Merry Christmas! We are mostly relaxing today. We did presents yesterday. I am cooking but nothing difficult. I've got stuffed mushrooms that will be done soon and then in goes the prime rib. Making broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes to go with it. Should be yummy.

I didn't get to go to mom and dad's today for Christmas. I didn't have anyone to take me and I can;t drive. I asked my sister for a ride and she said she wasn't going becuase she is always mad at my mom and dad. She will regret that one of these days.
My eye is worse. as soon as RCHEL GETS HERE TOMORROW we are going to the hospital. It hurts so bad. When i cry blood comes out of my eye wiyh the tears.

I saw your pic of your eye on FB, Cindy. Take care of yourself.
I am also weather watching the nasty storms and tornadoes sweeping the south. Not good on Christmas Day.
We are to get more rain tonight but not the flooding that I saw on the weather channel. At least not right here.
Everyone take care.

Cindy I hope your eye is better soon, nothing is worse than that pain.... take care of it as soon as you can-

We had a lovely dinner at Carrie's tonight- she did prime rib, mashed taters and gravy , had a lot of relish stuff- shrimp and crab... Teresa brought green bean casserole too,,, was so good and Carrie said it was really easy to make ,even got to take a nap today while it was cooking...

My son and his family didn't make it- they got a lot more snow than we did and he didn't want to drive in it so they will come next weekend if we don't get more snow...we can have another Christmas with them....

My oldest dd and her hubby gave me a new digital programable crock pot- it 's really nice and big- 7qt... I love it ... my old one is at least 20 yrs old!
Carrie and Jon gave me an I Pad, I was so suprised! Jon got a big bonus and she said it was his idea.... can't wait to try it out.. got it charging now... just amazed about it still...

Well have the baby tomorrow so need to get myself reaady for bed.. been a long day and it is really cold tonight... 7*.... and dropping.... may go take a hot bath and just veg for a while...

What storms Tina? In California? Stay safe.
I tried to copy a piece of something you wrote on the other Coffee house thread but there was no option.
What the Heck is a "BugOut" bag?
Never heard that before.
Also anyone know why I keep getting bleeped? I do not use curse words on forums.. or even in real life for that matter. Cannot figure it out.

Kim, I am thinking that there are just certain words that are not allowed..nothing personal just "the rules"...

I understand teh bug out bag--but Tina can explain it best, as she makes them.

Speaking of storms--we were suppoed to have 1-3 inches last night--well this morning, it is cold but, there is NO snow so far---I have not had the news on so I don't know what they are saying yet..

back to the real world today--errands to be run, P-coats to be bought... grin

Junie, I did retire. It's lovely so far but I really haven't had a minute to think about it. I think things are slowing down now that Christmas is over.

Morning,

Was up early today. have the baby and she is keeping me moving today... she is full of energy... Joe is off today too so when she got here we made a big breakfast of bacon and scrambled cheesy eggs... she ate more of that than she has ever eaten here before... typical 2 yr old ..only eats good once a day usually... we gave her the puzzles we got her for Christmas too..she likes them a lot... and the gingerbread man pattern socks I found for her... had to put them on right away....

The sun is out here but it's still very cold today... about 17* now... so will be icy for a while yet... we are staying in today... to cold to go out ... though I need to go out and get a cover and protector for the ipad... maybe tomorrow....

I got my new crockpot unpacked and ready to get washed up.. and Joe's new indoor grill too... we may have hamburgers tonit on it... or may make some tuna burgers up ... after all that rich food lately something plain sounds good to both of us..

Well off to change the laundry... and get a juice refill for Senika.. she loves her juice....LOL!

Nana

Good morning. It rained in the night and will rain again. But there is no danger here.
The midwest and southern eastern states had some bad storms that included tornadoes. I was concerned about all of those people.
Kim, I live in sight of the largest fault in the world. We could have a massive earthquake that could be pretty devastating. I believe in preparation. I have always kept extra food and emergency supplies in case I need to shelter in or around my home. I keep some things in my car in case I have issues out on the roads. These have been very helpful when wilfires took out our power, water and made traveling difficult for weeks on end in the past. And when I broke down out in the desert once, I was not too stressed because I had what I needed to be comfortable for a while.
Lately, I have been reading a lot and kicked my preparation up a notch. I am not a doomsday prepper. My preps are still geared towards local disasters and things. My kids have been with me in the small disasters we have lived through and see the wisdom in being ready for whatever might come.
A BOB, bug out bag, is just something to have ready in case you need to leave home. It is a backpack, ready to grab and go, that covers the basics, water, food and shelter for about 3 days. If you go to the FEMA site they have some good basic ideas of what they should contain. And then you modify to what types of disasters you may have to face in your area.
I now keep a lot more food stored at home than I ever have in the past. And ways to warm us and cook without electricity. I hope my kids' bobs get them home so we can survive and thrive together. I also feel that investing in food today saves me quite a bit of money in the future as the prices rise. I have also been studying ways to make my food's shelf life last longer. It works down a a hobby for me.

I am glad you are getting a screen protector, Nana. I think you will end up loving your iPad a bunch. I know that after seeing and playing with Ted's (when he is not around), I want a tablet myself.

I try to carry Extra things in my Jeep, Blankets Shovel, Salt etc. for emergencies in a snow storm on the road, But heck anything can happen to anyone. Even a fire where you just have to go. I have the Kittys Crates in the front closet by the Front door.
But I think it is a good idea to have what you are talking about for that as well, No one can collect clothes etc when there is a fire. Smart lady!! thumbup

Yes, Kim, keeping emergency gear in your vehicle is a good idea. Especially in winter for you. In my van I keep jumper cables and some basic tools. And in the winter I tuck some water bottles in with a couple of meals. Summer is more difficult and I change out water and food often. My van gets way too hot to just keep things in it for long. 140+ degrees is not good for storing much. I had a stored lighter explode once while my van was sitting in my driveway. I am much more careful of such things now.
I had a very busy day doing not much of anything. Tomorrow I will go to the store fore some basic things I am running low on. Vacations from school are nice and lazy.

Good morning. I also don't much care for crowds, Sunny. I hope you are getting a chance to rest up now.

Good morning---I'll be back as I can too. This is the last day of Dh's "christmas vacation"---he has to work tomorrow before he is off for the 2 day new year holiday...

We will go to a store or two--
