OK, OK. I opened a new one. I did a bunch of rearranging of my indoor storage. Moved all those bins of photos into my daughter's cool room. I'd love to put them into one of the sheds but those get way too hot in the summer. I freed up space for some of my food storage on the deck. Moving along on that.

Good Afternoon. Kim, They like to close the current Coffee House when it has 100 posts. Then open a new one. Sometimes there are a few more made though.

Cindy, ya wanna come & vacuum MY floors ??? That's funny.... I don't know why I hate to vacuum...it's right up there with washing dishes. I love to do laundry, but hardly ever get to do that anymore. I wait til I'm on my last t-shirt and pajama bottoms then I can get a full load. I've been on a salmon binge the last few weeks...just open a big can and dump it in a bowl and eat it. Drives the cats crazy.

I bet it does drive the cats nuts. Do you share? Vacuuming is not high on my list of beloved chores either.

I bet it does drive the cats nuts. Do you share? I have to share...or they would kill me! Went to feed my stray cat outside yesterday and now there is another cat. I'm beginning to think there is a website somewhere that has my address on it for people who want to dump cats. I just had Abacat spayed and her shots...over $100. If I can catch this one I will have to have it spayed or neutered. The stray outside I recently had neutered is very friendly now. All my money that I don't have (borrowed) goes for taking care of animals. Good thing they like tuna and salmon...it's cheaper than cat food...

Finally made it back from my phlebotomy...4 big holes in one arm and 2 in the other. After the phlebotomy I went over to play backgammon with Dad. He beat me decent the first game, then almost skunked me on the second. I at least had 2 off the board, so it wasn't a 'skunk'.

I will have to go over on Thanksgiving while dad is left alone and try to get even. I told him that "parents usually LET their children win on occasion just because that's the right thing to do...you know, build self-esteem and stuff". He said "That's not gonna happen here!"

Good morning... Too funny Cindy maybe he'll let you win this time. Piling next year's wood today...getting ready for Winter this late in the year is not the greatest plan.

That's one of the jobs I actually enjoyed at the farm...splitting and stacking the firewood. Used to split wood every morning as the sun came up...summer and winter. It was kinda my Zen meditation time.

Good morning. I do understand that, Cindy. Doing anything by rote that is productive can be soothing. Weeding, laundry, dish washing. You can get them done while your imagination is off in another place. And then, when finished, there is something accomplished. I have never gotten vacuuming into that category in my mind, though. I would like to but it just doesn't happen.

Just you and the bears, Sunny? I also like raking. I love to see the piles build up. I have been chugging along. Doing a lot of housework that avoids the use of a vacuum cleaner. Soon though.

My older son and Jonni are off to Vegas to have Thanksgiving dinner with her boyfriend's parents. And to that Rush concert on Friday. Not sure what day they will be back. I'm thinking Saturday. I do not envy them the drive up today though. The traffic to Vegas is always dreadful on Thanksgiving. A 3 1/2 hour drive turns into 6+. Or more. Happy to be staying home and happy to be able to nap.

Was a beautiful day here in Pa....I baked my pumpkin pie in the am. Have to admit been sampling it ever since....Turned out gorgous. I read online to heat the filling after I mix it before it gets the oven . Man most perfect pie I ever made of pumpkin.I just had to have that one.
Happy Turkey day folks.

My youngest DD is having thanksgiving this year. With the little one it is probably best that way. Baking my Pecan Pie as I type. It is my youngest DD's favorite. Soon I will go and bake a Pumpkin Pie to leave at home for Rod & I to eat here at home. The one thing I hate most is when going out to other people's houses for a holiday meal is that there are no leftovers at home---so now I make myself a pumpkin Pie to come home to. I am taking the mashed potatoes and I will be making the gravy, I am sure. I wish everyone a Very Happy Thanksgiving !!!

tHANKS JUNIGIRL,
I baked my pumpkin pie the am.....an been sampling. I too dislike eating away an no left overs. So I have a 6 pound chicken I will roast in the am.. May just eat alone this time. I been eating at others houses for 2 year now an I am starting to want my own home cooking. None cook like me. They use gas stoves an I use electric...I swear it tastes different. Also no one at my sisters house like my cooking except my sister. So I dont usually take anything ..But done feel comfy going an doin all the work for the lazy kids grown an children over 12 who need to help her......I may not go this time.
Of course son will come by over the day.. But I dont want to go to his inlaws to eat. Restricted eating...However he provides the free turkey from work. Mostly Ive a cold an they kids dont need that .
Happy thanksgiving to you an Happy thanksgiving to all on Garden Helper gang.. Love, dodge

Since I have no one to cook for I hadn't planned anything for tomorrow except to go play backgammon with my dad. But, I was in the grocery store yesterday and saw this tiny turkey breast...so I bought it. I will have turkey, smashed potatoes, stuffing (from my leftover cornbread) and broccoli.

sounds yummy Cindy & Dodge--- we will have turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy corn & I assume rolls of some kind & pies--if there is to be more I am not aware if it. I will take the pecan pie--Emily's grandmother-in-law will bring the pumpkin pie. I am making a upside down cake also--it is supposed to be a cranberry one but NO ONE, not even the fancy grocery stores) had frozen cranberries so I bought mixed berries & I will use them  barb, if you freeze half of your goodies you will not have any leftovers---

That is what I made for Christmas last year, Cindy, and it was yummy indeed. -- then it was just Rod, his mom & me. I think this year my sister is having Christmas dinner & I can go there if we want. We shall see.

I am not cooking this year. I will miss the leftovers. Even when we ate at others homes, I made turkey and a lot of sides for home too. I love hot turkey sandwiches. But I am enjoying having just Ted and I alone. My oldest daughter thought that sounded lonely and offered to come over. I told her that I appreciated it but please don't. I really love my quiet child. And we are never lonely. I ordered a bread machine on Monday and it arrived today. So I'm thinking of testing it out. I don't really want to bake bread in it but am looking forward to it making the dough for me. I have a tiny kitchen and no really good draft-free, warm places to let it rise. So the machine can do the beginning labors and I will finish it the way I want it.

Happy thanksgiving all. Pie is done, Stuffing made last night, Pop the bird in around 11 this am. Then just the few extras. Simple but yummy, I hope. I got a fresh turkey this year from a local butcher. No flash freezing, no pumping it full of liquid. We shall see. Going to work out this morning in the basement as the gym is not open. We all made a stink asking to have it open sometime today, but no go. It is supposed to be nice so I might bike ride. Talk later ladies. have a nice day.

Well I'm having leftover ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni salad, baked beans popovers. A very self indulgent meal. But the tire disintergrated on the car and I can't afford to fix it until payday so I figure I'm entitled since the tire just blew the christmas turkey dinner out the window. That is unless I can get a coupon or something at the food bank. It's been an unhappy year here but I keep plugging along hoping things will look up soon.

It seems alittle quiet here too. I didn't invite a crowd in this year. I just couldn't figure out a way to afford it. Yes I'm still out in the country. I understand what you mean about your plants taking a beating. I tried planting a deck garden but the cat made mincemeat out of it. A friend brought over some horse manure and it was full of seeds and roots. Now I've got to dig all that stuff out and get down to the good stuff. I young man in the neighborhood raked up my leaves for me. That helped although I really shouldn't have spent the money on that.
