My whole family used to go to the Isle of Palms for Thanksgiving and stay for 4 or 5 days. It was great. The older the kids have gotten the harder it is to get them all together. This year Johnny and I are going to Ginger's time share in Hilton Head. Her in laws are coming and that's it. My sisters are doing things with their own families and my mom and dad are staying home. It's so hard with everyone spread out everywhere.

What are you guys doing?

Think I will go to my sons the day before turkey day.
Then stay home on Real turkey day so he can spend the day with the inlaws. I am invited to 3 places but dont feel like going .. All do the same thing. Eat drink same foods ..Nothing special of any of it .

So I may just make a fat chicken an indulge alone......Better than having to worry of doing something wrong at someones house.. I usually just end up doing the dishes , to entertain my self.LOl
I get bored easily

Well hanksgiving Day proper I wll be going to my youngest DD house. Oldest will spend the day of & day after with her DH's family--possibley the day before as well--- Youngest just texted me 2 days ago saying that she is not serving a meal until 5pm--but we can come over earlier-- why--She will be serving an injected Nu-Waved Turkey--some oven dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, et all--I will be bringing some homemade cranberry salad from our church for one of my sides--we all bring a side dish AND a dessert---there is plenty to pick from then.

If I am lucky I will get to have the carcas to make soup form the next day grin

Then on the following Sunday I will have a "Dudley Thanskgiving"--I will host it this year--it is
where all the Dudley's (my sister her family, my brother his kids & me & my family--- get together & we have an Italian meal---This began the first year my sister's girl was married--she was going to her new in-laws for Thanksgiving & my Emily was going to japan to get engaged over that holiday (her DH was stationed there that year) We had it the week before Thanksgiving that year-- so this way we all still got to be together..
so that has now become a tradition---but with deer seasons it is hard to have it early so this year it is the sunday after, and is my turn

Hi , Most of my kids will be here too.. it is same menu as everyone else- turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, gravy, cranberry relish, deviled eggs, olives, green and black, celery and carrots tray.
green bean casserole, sweet potatos - with marshmellows and without... pumpkin pie and lemon meringe pie too. the leftover turkey will be turned into enchiladas and tacos.....

Dodge we used to ride 4 wheelers on Turkey day - when we were in AZ and family was all closer, my bro and sister in law lived in Gila Bendl about halfway between Yuma and Pnx.. we used to all meet there and my all , it was around 150.. pitted the turkeys and venison roasts, briskets,, and everyone brought the sides... lots of kids - lots of desert to 4wheel in ,some of us had trailers and tents for the kids .. rest slept on floor or home was close enough to get to if we had too- lots of time it was a 4 day event for us.. when I was working I went back and forth a couple times - kids had a wonderful time... they still talk about it.

Well it's almost my bedtime... tired tonit - so heading to my pillows.

We are planning to go on a walk in the morning. We were invited to go with a group who has been walking together on Thanksgiving morning for a few years. They bring their dogs and everyone donates what they can and the money goes directly to buy food for the hungry. The person who organizes it matches the donations 100%. The woman who invited us adopted one of our foster dogs about a year ago and we've kept in touch. She is a wonderful person and the foster dog is so happy with them.

My mom has her own house for the first time in about 20 years, so she is inviting my family and my husband's family over. She always makes the same thing, too. I think I will bring a vegan dish to share. I eat very little meat and I'm working toward being vegan. It's not something accepted or understood by my family so I'm thinking if I can bring something everyone can try, they might see it is not so strange.

I find the holidays a difficult time, but I enjoy them a little more now because my daughter is little and finds everything so exciting and fun. It's hard not to share her joy in the small things.

We usually don't eat turkey on Thanksgiving or any other time for that matter. One year we had lasagna. With it just being us, Ginger and her in laws we definitely won't be having Thanksgiving. Ginger eats very little meat and I don't eat a lot so her mother in law is in charge of the meat which think will be ham. Ging and I will do the side dishes.

My entire family usually runs some type of Thanksgiving morning 5K, a turkey trot, or something of the short. I imagine Ging and I will do the same in Hilton Head.

We're leaving in the morning to go to my daughters condo at North Myrtle Beach for Thanksgiving. Her inlaws are coming too. This year Ging and her husband will be running the 5K and I'll be walking and pushing the baby in the stroller. Might run a little bit but mostly walking. I'm old and he's heavy.
