So I bought one of these (well, two) a couple of weeks ago. Since then the flowers they had when I bought them have shriveled and died. But I can't find anything to tell me whether I should take them off or not. The flower shaft comes up tightly between the two leaves. Do I try to pull that out? So far I've just left it while I try to do more research. I don't want to damage them.

When I am in doubt, I assume mother nature knows what she is doing. I leave things alone to do what comes naturally. Unless the leaves show some damage or signs of dying,I'd leave it alone. Or if the shriveled stem annoys you, you can cut it off above the cleft.
I am not any kind of expert in these plants. The ones I have tried all died. I hope you have better luck.
