Grandbaby and I picked up two trial packs of daffy bulbs to plant this week, although she wanted to open them up and eat that candy 'wight now' lol

Weather is staying cooler..so beautiful out. Trees are slowly turning orange and red.

We go to 100 posts in the Coffeehouse then close it and start another one...guess you noticed that by the numbers at the end of the Coffeehouse. We are up to 2,379 Coffeehouses now! breakfast party breakfast

These cats are killing me.....Spartacus wants out to kick the neighbor dog's @ss because it keeps scratching on the door wanting in. I got a dog house for the stray dog I adopted (still no real 'name' yet...been calling him DOG) and he is fighting the neighbor's dog to keep him ('Marley', neighbor's dog) out of his ('DOG's) new dog house. It's a freaking 3 ring circus here.

My swollen glands are not the size of apples today, they have gone down quite a bit. Still feel yucky and was thinking about hooking the vacuum cleaner hose up to my nose to pull all the stuff in my head OUT, but afraid my brain would end up in the mix so I think I will hold off on that idea for right now.

Cindy step away from the vacuum... remember your hair!
LOL!

It is snowing in our mtns and it is cold today..only56* right now .. 20* cooler than yesterday.
Our Timba went to Outdoor Lab today... our county schools take all the 6th graders up to a camp where they do lessons on all sorts of stuff... he is really excited about doing the astronomy part and the nature hiking... he wore his new hiking boots for 2 weeks to break them in... they dont allow any electronic stuff so he will have to write his stories the old fashioned way he says.. paper and pen...LOL!

Well off to finish my packing and see what else I forgot to do.... have a good day all!

Nana

I know you will really enjoy this trip, Nana. Safe travels.
I know the feeling of wanting to get rid of all the sinus congestion, Cindy. Unfortunately your head will just manufacture more. I hope it quits soon.
I am not yet ready for winter weather. Our school also takes all of the 5th graders to mountain camp for a week. And all of the 6th graders go to Catalina Island camp and do snorkel stuff and ocean studies. It is a blast.
I have done little this morning. I have no umph!

old I've been out tilling a previously uncultivated patch to start getting it ready for some fall transplanting. There are a ton of rocks to pick out, and a few more passes with the tiller, then I can start tilling compost and other good stuff in.
There are lots of perennials in other gardens that need rescuing. kilroy

I actually cooked dinner tonight...got tired of "instant" food (popcorn and pot pies). I made some chicken tenders and some "Bill's Smashed potatoes" and asparagus...and remembered why I hate cooking for myself. I hate washing dishes. boohoo

You need to teach Lola how to wash. Or Spartacus. One can wash and the other dry and both teach Abbacat how to take over when they are too old.

Spartacus would love the washing job. He lays on the counter when I am washing dishes and plays in the dishwater. And 9 times out of 10 he turns around and lays that huge tail right in the water, then jumps down and mops the floor with it. (That's about the only time the floor gets mopped...when I am cleaning up after his "tail mop")

Abby has about worn me down this evening...she has gotten into everything. Why did I think I could handle another cat??? (I guess because the alternative was the animal shelter). I love her, though...she slept in my lap earlier while I was in the chair. Spartacus has never done that...he is NOT a lap kitty.

Good morning, light frost here.

I am also in the works of some Fall transplanting(and giving away~my hostas have gone crazy). I enjoy this time of year for gardening, so cool and breezy flwr

Cindy you sound like my cousin, she just recently took a job at a veterinary clinic and is rescuing every animal that is being brought in. Her husband has drawn the line with the batch of kittens she brought home a few days ago. Those little critters warm your heart but they are a lot of work. She messages me constantly~ do you want a cat/do you want a ferret/do want a gerbil? lol

Thinking I might give my lawn a trim today...another couple of weeks and the grass will be done growing for the season.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. I slept well and am up for the school day to begin. It is to be pretty warm again but not triple digits. I wonder what damage I can accomplish outdoors today?
I have a wonderful dog. And my daughter has this large skink. I am so not willing to take on any additional pets right now. If an outdoor cat comes along and adopts us, I'll probably feed it.

g'morning everyone.

I so wish I felt like doing outside work. Surely this cold will go away soon---why
I did pull a few weeds yesterday when I took Beowulf outside. But so much more needs done.

No more animals here--My one dog & then puppy sitting for my 4 grand-dogs is plenty of work, thank you very much--

I will be staying home from ceramics but I will still be going to my MIL's to fill her pills---hardly seems fair to me. why

oh well--I guess I could be feeling worse.

It is nothing to apologize about. We all learned this. It is just much easier to navigate if we begin a new CH to chat.
I have had a busy day. I'm planning a short nap soon.

I have sure seen a lot of pretty mums for sale everywhere the last week.
I just look....and don't buy.

It's been so long since I joined the forum I don't even remember the beginning very well. I do remember the reason I joined was to ask a question about pruning a maple tree...after I had already pruned it at the wrong time. blush I don't remember finding the Coffeehouse...I think it started (by 'Beth of the Piedmont'?) right about the time I joined, so it was kinda always here for me.
Damn, that makes me feel old. old

Went to the urgent treatment clinic this morning and got a shot in my butt... boohoo

The forum was under a different format when I joined.

I came & I asked my question---it was about the white flies (I think it was) on my Jerusalem Cherry bush that my dad had started. I was given great advice, I left & thought I was done--then several months later I had another problem (dont remember what?) & I came back---& then I went away again----I think it was the 3rd time I came back that I found out I was supposed to introduce myself & that there were more places than just to ask questions--- (sometimes I am slow) blush

I first joined in October of 2006 I think it was. why

This place is great for questions and help. My friends tend to think I'm crazy when I get excited about a plant coming back to life or something growing a new leaf haha

Good morning. I guess I joined and jumped right into the coffee house conversation. I like chatting with plant people and have many interests.
Today is to be warm and dry again. Pretty much the norm for me in the desert.

Good morning---I am feeling better today--which is timely. I am still sneezing every once in awhile, so if I go anywhere, I will wear a mask. A good sign is I slept well last night for over 9 hrs.

Well I am off to make my youngest DD some chocolate/oatmeal no bake cookies---everyone have a good day.

Back when my mother was nursing babies, the medical people all said no chocolate because it messes with the babies. When I had my first set of babies in the 70's it was still in some books and pamphlets about nursing. But they have stopped saying this. I guess our chocolate is better these days. Or we know more than we did back in the dark ages.
I got my son to school and the school secretary gave me a jar of home canned fig jam. I gotta try this soon. I stopped to shop on the way home and have put all of that away. There are some super sales on right now and I'm stocking up for the winter price rise.
I had a branch come down yesterday that I need to deal with. It is laying over one of my sheds and I don't want it to finish coming down and mess up the roof.
So my day has been set out for me.

Why do you have to wait for a frost to make the plum? They ripen here without a frost. I imagine the crabapples really make a push to finish after a frost.

The quick hard frost seems to bring out the sugars in them..kind of like what happens with grapes. Iced grapes make the finest ice wine ever.

My plums are a plum-prune variety..they seem to ripen just as the frost hits. thumbup

Good morning all, we did get the frost...had to cover my peppers. I see jelly making in the plans very soon grin

I'll be gone most of the day, DD has appointments and it's her birthday today as well.

Grueling day with running everywhere to get info and get my "papers in order" for the attorney.
Appointment with attorney tomorrow at 1pm.
I will die of stress before I get this done....then I won't need the damn insurance.

Naw--look at it like this---each morning when ya get up:
what do I have to do today---the big picture is what is stressing you--just see what has to be done one one day--then the next day, see what needs to be done that day--& so forth--just take it on, one day at a time---

we Are here to worry with ya later......if it ever needs to be
