I have a small Christmas cactus I'm trying to save. I'm not sure how often I should be watering it compared to other succulants. When I put it outside it was getting too much light and the ends got scorched. It appears a bit shriveled, but I'm not sure if this is due to over or under watering. I repotted it into a smaller pot because it was in a much larger container, and it sits next to my patio door. I'm not seeing much improvement and I would love to know how to make it happier! Thanks!

Shriveling is usually caused by under watering a Christmas cactus during the summer months, but it can also be caused by over watering, which can cause the roots to rot.
What was the condition of the roots when you re-potted your plant?
For most of the year, you should water thoroughly as soon as the soil is completely dry. Cut back on watering, keeping the soil barely moist from late fall through winter until you see signs of new growth in the spring.
