I was given a large green spiny pod that's at the moment soft to the touch, it's big enough that when placed in my palm, I can't close my hand around it. I was told that it comes from a climbing plant of some sort. It creeps up into trees & anything it's near. Not sure about the flowers it gets. The pod looks sort of like a chestnut pod only more oblong.
Can anyone tell me what it might be? I'd add a photo but I don't see an option to do that plus my html is turned off in this forum & I'm not sure how to enable it.

Not sure, it's hard to guess at what it could be. We add photo's by posting from another photo site..I use photobucket.

Hi Sunflowers & thanks for your reply. I also posted on facebook & got a link to a website about them.
It's called Oregon Manroot, coastal Manroot, & it's botanical name is Marah oreganus. The link below has info and some pics.

I have a photobucket account so I'll give that a try & see if I can figure it out.
Thanks again!
