Praying Cindy is o.k. Seizures are such a scary thing. kissie

The weather is a bit cooler today, rain is on its way. Tractor part landed late and we got to work in the heat into the dark of night, yay..not. lol Well, good thing is I have enough hay in to feed my horses for the Winter..now to work on hay for the cattle on our next dry spell.

Heat in the high 90's isn't a common thing here..my hands are swollen like a balloon. So strange how weather affects everyone so differently, it's amazing what a body can get used too and what it can't.

Hoping everyone has a good day...mine will be filled with more chores. Rain only starts in the late afternoon. thumbup

Good morning.
My grandparents retired here from Chicago. They use to laugh about their first couple of winters here. They would sit on their front porches in their light clothing wondering why people were wearing coats and parkas when they walked by. But soon enough they were wearing sweaters and jackets about the same time as their neighbors. Bodies do acclimatise.
Today is Ted's first day of school. In regular education he would be a college freshman, so that is what I am calling him. I am not sure what class he is in or what his school calls it. They don't name grades. Life with Ted is a lot of fun.

Good morning. Hot here again today, as usual in the southeast.

Morning,

Sunny we moved yrs ago to Az from Alaska.. we didn't wear coats for at least 2 yrs either and swam all yr... took us a long time to get used to it .. people thought we were nuts too..

I hope Cindy checks in soon too- siezures are a scary thing,,,,

Hubby is back to work now- after 2 weeks off , we didn't go anywhere but did get a lot done in yard and house.. finally got a small tree that was full of ants down in the side back yrd.. it was aspen but growing in a really bad place.. so he topped it and cut off all the branches he could reach then took the rest down in sections.. wasn't very big yet so good time to do it.. had a couple wasp nests in it too so was a good thing to go away...

Well got to go start the ribs in crock pot.. they are boneless beef and Joe's favorite thing at the moment- got to get them going before boys call to be picked up... have a good day all!
Nana

Cindy, Seizure meds do that. the good news is: 1) you should sleep more which in your world is a good thing. 2) You will get used to them a bit more over time & they wshould make you less groggy.

Also: they can & will adjust them so they will work right, but you need to go back & back until they get it right. back in the day I was going once a month until the dr got it right for my body & needs.
Not on them anymore thougth have not been since .

well I am running late so I must go so I can get some of my veggies in the freezer for the winter.

Ted is at school, I stopped to shop and now I have dinner in the crock pot. I budgeted and paid my bills. I went to the box to drop off my outgoing and today's mail is here early. So I get to go to the bank and deposit checks into 3 accounts. I dislike banking on the first. But I am so lucky to have an income, I will try not to whine too much. Off to go wait in my long line.

Good morning. Ted has a doctor appointment today so he is missing his second day of school. But they were forewarned.
I am looking forward to this day. It will move us forward on his conservator thing. I don't like all of the legal stuff necessary but I agree with it for his and others' protection. So we will wade through it.

we got about 3/10 of an inch of rain today---1/10 of it came pretty fast--BUt the second 2/10th came as a sl ow trickling rain---so hopefully that all sank in. Then it cooled down to around 81----this type of weeather should stay around for a bit.

I hope the rain did your gardens well, Carol. I'd like rain like that. I have gotten a few drops here and there. Just enough to make mud out of the dust on my van.

Long day...had to have 3 separate phlebotomies because my blood was so thick they couldn't get it to keep flowing. After that saw the doctor...some more bad news...my body is being consumed by iron, and i don't even eat much iron rich foods. Have Hemochromatosis and a HFE gene mutation. Whatever. I have 'mad skills'...and I can overcome anything!

Sorry to hear that Cindy..my husband is still have trouble with his hemachromotosis also. They are checking for 'gene' issues, his last scan showed a build up of metals in his organs. He has another doc app. today. Is that your same problem?

Thunder showers for today...it is dark and gloomy out there. Oh well, I could use some rest and some extra inside cleaning-up is planned. Grandbaby's b-day party is Sunday grin

Good to hear that Carol got her rain...Hoping that everything is going good with your legal process Tina. thumbup

Good morning. I woke before my alarm.
Cindy, John had the transfusions often because of his MDS. That also made him overdosed in iron. He had the option of sitting for hours several times a week to have his blood 'washed' of the iron or trying a fairly new drug called Exjade. Because it was so new it was very expensive, like $5k per month. And the insurance only picked up after the first 2 months of each year. But it was so much better than nearly living in a lounge chair at the hospital. See if that is an option that you have. I'm hoping the expense has come down in the last 3 years and insurance more accepting of it. It did work.
I just wish they had a way of washing the iron from the blood before they transfuse it into someone else. Too much iron is worse than a deficiency.
You have my prayers and very best wishes.

Yep...how do they scan for a build up of metals in your organs? An MRI or something?

AACCCKKK!!! yikes I can't imagine setting there for hours having my blood washed! I will Google that drug and see how much it costs now...my insurance hardly pays for anything. boohoo

Junie...been meaning to ask you if you have any trouble with your mesh (abdominal) reconstruction)? I see so many lawsuit commercials on TV and I'm wondering what is up with it.... why nervous

Thanks for all the prayers...all this sickness is really making me nervous lately.

PS....I had a sleep-over last night! Leslie came over and decided to stay all night. She went to bed before me so I told her which side of the bed to sleep on...when I went to get in bed she had her head on HER side and her feet OFF the bed on my side! Needless to say I slept in the recliner all night. lol

Sleep overs are often like that.
Good morning. I hope everyone has a happy Saturday. My plan is cleaning house. And watering outdoors. Not exciting but necessary.
I bought Ted an iPad yesterday. He is one happy dude with the apps I supplied for him.

It has me nervous too. nervous I have pain every once in awhile---I think it is from the intestine pushing out fropm under the mesh on the left side--(the right seems to be ok) A nurse told me it is common for the intestine to push out like that. why
I have massaged it back in before and then usually after a day or so, it must go back under teh mesh because the pain will go away. I have a bladder sling too (well unless they undid that when they did the mesh repair)
Yep My sister & I kid about all the money we could make if we sued on those grounds. But it scares moe too.
I asked the dr how long this surgery would last--He did not really answer me--all he said was they have only done a 10 year study..... why

Yes, I have seen those commercials too. And wondered how you were doing. The first time I had heard of the mesh was from you ladies. I have a single hernia when I have a very bad cough. I massage it back into place as well.

I made cornbread blueberry scones for breakfast,, The boys and I loved them . I guess I'm spoiling these boys with stuff like that But it's good for them to experience different kinds of foods they normally wouldn't if they weren't living with me. Plus I make them get in the kitchen with me and help, someday they will be on their own and will have to cook for themselves. Tre' can already make pancakes from scratch with/out reading a recipe and Breyton makes spaghetti sauce., Hoping there will come a day when I get off work and Dinner is made already notme ( yep they are in training lol)
Today I'm droppping Tre off at the Mall,, and taking the other two with me to another mall to get school clothes,, FUN,, zoink lol

I have pain all the time....and it makes me nervous. But, I had to have this done or die, so it wasn't really an option.
I always wondered about the 'sides'...wondered how far the mesh went at the sides. why I keep forgetting to ask my surgeon these questions.

The 10 year study is kind of scary....the surgeon said I would not live through another abdominal surgery. nervous

When I got back here from Washington (after we hit that elk) I had to have a single hernia repair...when the surgeon did the entire abdominal repair he found the mesh from the first repair all the way on the other side of my abdomen. yikes Guess the surgeon forgot to sew it in place or something...lol

I bet your mother really misses your little brother, Cindy.
I think, if I asked, my kids would cook more. I really prefer to have my kitchen to myself though. I know where everything is and where every thing goes after it is washed. My kitchen is too small to share. And I don't like cleaning up after others in there too much. Now if they want to take on cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, in any other room, I would not complain. Ted is helpful but needs supervision. So we work together.
I do need to get out my vacuum though, I have put it off.

I have a place for everything and i know where everything is when i need it...but if someone would come in here and clean up my kitchen right now I would let them put stuff anywhere they wanted. It's a mess...a whole sink full of dirty dishes and dirty pans, etc in the oven. I vacuumed yesterday and thought it was going to kill me...lol I hate housework... madd

I have continued putting off vacuuming. I will get the vacuum out tomorrow. Honest. I dusted today instead.
And I am tired. Going to say good night and go play some mind numbing games.

actually I do as well( Like My kitchen to my self ) BUT I have kids to train up and be self sufficient. They know to have a sink of hot sudsy water to wash dishes as they go including stove top and counters and believe me I'm adamant about putting things back exactly where they found it, they don't like it when I go nuts when I can't find something cuz it's not where it's supposed to be so they have learned to always put it back lol My kitchen is small too like a short galley kitchen I hate it boohoo the house I moved from had a huge kitchen. I've been here 2 years and still am not used to s small kitchen. we have a rule in this house,, who ever cooks does dishes as we go,, everyone else sweeps the floor and wet mops after meals and does the eating dishes as well. So far so good .

Good Lord, Rachel mops her entire kitchen and hallway every single day.
Do you want to know how long it's been since my kitchen was mopped?
No...you probably don't...lol
