tk, you're so funny.

It rained yesterday which is really good for my straw bales. It's too windy today. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks, Dodge. Got my "English pea" seeds today from my Mom. This will be my first time planting them. We'll be planting them this weekend along with the potatoes. I hope its not too late here for the peas.

My row of carrots got tilled up so today Colby, my 10 year old grandson, and I planted more carrots, lettuce, radishes, and put up another trellis and planted green peas. I've got squash seeds planted in pots in the greenhouse. I'm planning on a great garden this season.

Weeded about 2/3 of the sidewalk and about 1/2 of the sidewalk flower bed. Spread 5 gallons of compost around the roses and other plants in the sidewalk bed.

Dug up 5 - 5 gallon buckets of compost to put around the fruit trees and to prepare 2 of the tire raised beds for tomato plants this year. I'm trying for a 50/50 ratio of compost and garden soil for the tomatoes.

Sounds like you getting a nice start on the squash.

Today was grocery day so all I did for the garden was to unload the mulch from the back seat so I would have somewhere to put the groceries.

I need to make more time for the gardening or the yard isn't going to look good this year.

Well today I stopped at the local Wal-mart wanna-be (Alco) and one of the things I bought was some romaine lettuce starts----

I will plant them in my raised planter boxes after the severe weather we are supposed to have over the rest of next week....

now to find some onion starts---I have herb seeds ready to go

Oh how I am itching to get out & "get at it" !!!!

Its been busy. Weeded the blueberry bed, put down the sulphur additive, compost and a pine bark compost.

Weeded 1/3 of the sidewalk and added more moss.

Weeded 1/2 of the sidewalk flower bed added compost as needed and mulch to the part that is weeded.

dug up 55 gallons of compost. Piled up the unfinished compost into a 3x4x5 ft pile.

Added compost to the birdbath flower bed.

Took out the rotted landscaping timber and replaced them with good ones. I'm glad I only do a few of those each year. It would be expensive to do them all at once.

Planted kolrabi in deck flower planters.

transplanted 3 miniature roses into better potting soil. They have new leaves comming up already. They are much happier.

I put out tomato plants, egg plants, beets.

The squash in the straw bales has sprouted. The carrots have broken ground. The peas haven't done anything.

Does anyone grow asparagus?

Hey JunieGirl, I'm trying to make up for last year lol. The indoor miniature rose that has survived well has a beautiful orange bud on it. It's looking alittle weak in the stems right now but that's not unusual their first year out. At least not the ones I've gotten. They strengthen up pretty good after a pruning.

I planted two tomato plants in the raised tire beds. That's a 75% compost 25% garden soil mix. I didn't have any epsome salt to amend it with. Hopefully that won't cause an end rot problem. I'm putting epsome salts on my grocery list.

The climbing roses got pine bark mulch added to their feet.

I need to work on the overcrowding in the ditch bed. I'm just not up to it so far. I did pull away the winter debrie so I could at least see what I was dealing with. Now I need to weed eat that area and catch it after a good soaking rain.

Every year I get some type of weed in my flower beds that will eventually burn it's self out but it's too aggravating to leave it that long. It's actually easy to remove because it sort of rolls up like a carpet. That's what I did today. It comes back every year no matter what.

Today was a really good day in the garden. raked up 99 gallons of leaves for the compost pile. Planted two sweet pepper plants. weeded the sidewalk. Added two bags of sand. So I'm feeling good. I look forward to doing as much tomorrow. Unfortunately since I didn't exercise this winter I'm feeling the burn.

well, That is great, TK !!! but, I did not do as much---:(

I weeded my main flower bed.....and I put some things back out where I will keep them i n the yard. Then I planted some basil to ensure that I have some this summer---you know in case mine does not come back---and that is all really---I was feeling pretty good until I read all that TK got accomplished.

Junie, at least your weather is letting you start doing something. That's a good thing.

Today I planted a row of cucumbers and a row of bush beans

We went to the nursery and got a beautiful black iron arbor with a little gate at the bottom, new bird bath, and some really cute garden row stakes.

Wow Best the garden art sounds fantastic.

Junie you are so funny. I'm making up for last year when I didn't do anything. I'm figuring I need to double my spring working schedule just to catch up with everyone. And the dead fall that is hung up in trees is going to be a major pain.

Today I have a pretty heavy list of things I want to accomplish. So cross your fingers for me. I'm waiting for it to warm up a touch before I head out there.

today I raked up about 198 gallons of leaves. That's the leaves between the shade bed and the foundation bed. I weeded the sidewalk bed. I put another bag of mulch down. I moved the rust/bronze mums from the sidewalk bed to the birdbath bed. I put bloom booster fertilizer around the minature roses that are already in the grown and winterized. They all survived really well. I'm excited about that. Two of them have very upright growing habits at the moment. They look like little climbing roses. They are so cute.

I cut up the smallest of the hung up dead trees. It still wanted to bind my chain saw. It took more work to cut a way to the tree than it did to cut it up into firesize pieces.

Well today I cut grass in the ditch and at the top of the lawn around the new climbing roses down to the electric pole. Then I raked it all up. Only about 33 gallons of leaves but these were mixed in with grass clippings so all good.

Then I enlarged the bed around the spirea so that it has room to grow this year.

Then of course there was repairing the weed wacker, a very delicate piece of equipment. Then of course it had to be reloaded with line.

So I done good I think.

Now it's time to run off and do things in town. Wish me luck.

well here is what I did the 17th:

My DH & I emptied several of my flower pots with the older soil in them, so I could start over with fresh dirt when the time comes. With it so wet it is easier to see where the low spots are now....
THEN:
I weeded the beds up against the garage & back of the kitchen---(the 3 beds by my rock garden as my SIL calls it)

then I weeded my asparagus bed and part of the rest of my veggie garden. My herb garden had only 1 weed---I was so happy to see that !!!! The portion that needs planting yet, will get another layer of dirt this year, as I am slowly trying to build it up.

I then began to clean off my gardening bench/table....
and I forgot to mention----it was 80*F today.... bop

Today it's raining so I'm not doing much.

I love it that you only had one weed in your herb bed. I'm looking forward to the day I can say that about my beds if ever.

My flower beds do not have many weeds but my vegetable garden plot is a constant weeding job. Mulch sure does prove the difference.
